“I was here this evening for dinner with friends. We had a great meal, great drinks, and our server was friendly and attentive. The only problem was the dessert which I ordered; sopapillas. These are traditional New Mexican soft, fried, puffed dough pockets, drizzled with honey or covered in cinnamon and sugar. Think small soft donuts. Well, what I got was a hard, flat, fried tortilla, cut into quarters, and covered in cinnamon and sugar. That is NOT any kind of a sopapilla I have ever had at any Mexican restaurant before. It was awful. When I told the server my thoughts on what was served, she argued with me that this was indeed sopapillas. Right. My advise; do not order this usually delightful dessert at Tres Amigos, because you'll get something other than true sopapillas!“
“This place I have been anticipating for quite some time now but today that came to an end as I had a great experience. Great staff great atmosphere great food. I'm a birrea guy and I officially love this place I can't wait to come back during “
“First time experience. Food was tasty but felt a bit pricey. Service was very slow. Soda was not correct syrup consistency but when asked the charge was removed. Not sure why there was a merchant fee. ?? They ran out of silverware.Vegetarian options: One of us had a taco that had a black bean burger in it. Excellent taste.“
“Been here 4 times and they're great every time. Huevos Rancheros are a go to. My favorite dish is the Chipotle Poached Huevos! The Cuban Coffee is a perfect blend of espresso and raw cane sugar. Service is fantastic. Dining area is vibrant for a bright morning vibe. Spacious with comfy booths or tables. Highly recommend this establishment for your next outing!“
“First off the gentleman at the front counter Sergio was so welcoming and went over and beyond to explain the fan favorites. It was our first time here, we are extremely impressed with the customer service which doesn't exist anymore Sergio is the real MVP and the outstanding quality of the food I can't express enough how amazing this experience was, definitely a must try!HIGHLY RECOMMEND!“
“Our new favorite Mexican! Owner very hospitable discussed our likes and made great suggestions that did not disappoint. Ceviche is fabulous- shrimp & squid!! On owners recommendation added shrimp & squid to the guacamole. Hubby had the chorizo& Mexican sausage burrito.“
“Wow wow wow .. that's all I have to say.. I haven't found a a restaurant that has ambience, food and service all bundled up together to make the experience AMAZING, And that says a lot because I am a big foodie. Would def go back if I was ever in Louisville“
“Sooo good. This was our first visit and rarely do I eat out and immediately want to leave a review. I had the vegetarian fajitas nachos and it was perfect. I usually want sour cream but this was perfect without it. The veggies, beans and cheese were evenly distributed, fresh snd flavorful. My husband ordered the stuffed poblano peppers with chicken, rice and refried black beans. He was impressed as well and the black beans may be the best refried beans I've ever had. We will definitely be back. Give this place a try- it is fantastic!“
“My wife and I believe that it may be one of the best kept secrets in Louisville. A person almost wouldn't notice it, as they drive down Frankfort Ave. But, this little gem of a food truck serves some of the finest Mexican cuisine you have ever tasted.“
“Absolutely the best mexican restaurant!! Prices and service is amazing!! Friendly, and attentive. If you want a restaurant that makes you feel like family, this is the place to go. Their steak fajitas are awesome!! Chili on the appetizer menu is phenomenal. Corn elotes, mmmm!!“
“This was our favorite food truck and now it's our favorite restaurant! The atmosphere is so authentic and sweet. The girl at the counter is so friendly and welcoming to everyone and our order is always correct and absolutely delicious.“
“A friend wanted to try this place out because she'd heard how good it is, so we went today for lunch. Absolutely fantastic. Authentic flavors, with offerings that you won't find in the regular chain spots. The salsa was served warm with the (also still warm) chips, and the flavor was like nothing I've experienced elsewhere. There was not a crumb left on anyone's plate when we finished. Prices were great. Staff is incredible, friendly, and efficient... which we saw first hand since the place filled UP for lunch. I am thankful we live close by because I'll be bringing my family in very soon.“
“Enjoyed breakfast at Foko’s new location. Staff were friendly and helpful. Tried the Wake Up Burrito, Dirty Horchata, and tres leches pancakes! All were delicious! A friend who was with me already made plans to return and bring her family! Love this place!“
“One of the best authentic mexican restaurants in L'ville! The options available are ever vast, and they don't charge extra for guacamole!!! I eat here about twice a week.Vegetarian options: Majority of what they serve is vegetarian. If you don't pay for meat you won't get any. They have bean options: Pinto and Black.Kid-friendliness: Desserts- cookies and cakeSpicy/non-spicy foodsChild seating available“
“Excellent food and service! I'm from out of town, and recommend this place to anyone passing through Louisville.Kid-friendliness: We had our 10 month old here and had plenty of options for him to eat. We chose rice and chicken, which was cut perfectly for him to eat in bites.“
“This is my favorite place ❤️. Everything in this restaurant is luxury ?. I have been visiting it for two years and I always leave very satisfied with everything. The best margaritas in Louisville KY are made at this place, everything is spectacular.“
“My partner surprised me on a lunch date here - and I was certainly surprised! The quality of the chik'n alone, but also portion sizes, and conversation with the owners there was phenomenal. This is the best fried vegan chicken I have ever had!Vegetarian options: The entire restaurant is vegan! The chik'n is made of seitan.“
“Stayed at the Moxy and decided to try the tacos here. I actually ordered the chicken nachos. They were very good. I ordered a side of the cilantro lime rice and shockingly it has no flavor to it at all. However the nachos were very flavorful. Staff was super friendly and the food came out fast! It was a great experience and will eat again when I return to town.“
“I love Mexican food and El Nopal did not disappoint! The margarita was so tasty and was strong but not overpowering. I also had the fajita quesadilla and it was huge and delicious! I enjoyed my trip there and will definitely go back when I'm in town.“
“Currito has become my new favorite. Staff is friendly and helpful. Food is so yummy and I love that I can eat clean, fresh food within my budget. I appreciate the menu choices and love the option of being able to customize and build my grain or salad bowl or choose from their already suggested menu items.“
“My wife and I came to Down one a few weeks ago. we sat at the bar on a pretty slow night. The bartender Dustin was very conversational, friendly and very knowledgeable. we had some great whiskey and a few laughs, definitely will come back great place!“
“First time here, my wife and I decided to try this for lunch. Everything was absolutely delicious! I love the condiment bar. The queso is full of flavor, unlike many of the more traditional more "bland" queso dips. Also, must try the elotes. They have four varieties to choose from. Prices were decent, and service was top notch...Nia was very helpful. We will probably end up making this one of our regular spots when we come to town.“
“This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Louisville. They are so nice and kind. The food just tastes higher quality than other places, particularly their beans. Their salsa also tastes fresher than most. The staff remember you and know what you are ordering even if it’s been awhile since you’ve been there. They ask about your family and seem to enjoy being part of the community. Lovely people, lovely place, lovely food.“
“This restaurant was our first time visiting and truly excellent. They serve authentic Mexican / Venezuelan dishes and you truly can’t go wrong with any of the Tortas! Gerardo our server was timely, genuine, & had excellent recommendations and the food came out quick! WOW money well spent and we will return !!!“
“My wife and I eat there often…. super attentive staff… Family oriented business that has a very large menu with great options The chicken steak shrimp fajitas ARE the real deal. Great food and great service. Buy one get one free margaritas tonight in six different flavors… Very reasonably priced menu.…. Their chips and salsa are super fresh…“
“The food is always delicious but 4 timed now we've tried to order online for pick-up on the way to work and our orders never go through. The last 2 times their tablet wasn't even turned on so they didn't even know there was an order. Luckily we typically have enough time to still stop in and wait and the food is definitely worth it!“
“My wife told me about Noche and we have been trying to make time to go there for months. The wait was well worth it! We had patio seating. The weather was ideal and the seating was comfortable. The brisket was delicious and the plantains were out-of-this-world good. Our server, Jeremy was OUTSTANDING. He made sure we were taken care of, and was very pleasant. Noche will definitely get a return trip from us!“
“We walked in 45 minutes before closing on a Saturday night and they wouldn’t seat us… there was 2 of us and we had traveled along ways so we were hungry. Well this nice game named edwardo(sp)?) said we can get it to go for you! And was so friendly after the rest of stuff wouldn’t serve us. He was a so friendly and the food was SOOOOO good. Like best mexican food ever. This young man is the staple of this place!“
“My family and I like the food here. They give good size portions. We've eaten in the restaurant several times and ordered takeout several times Like most places, eating in is a better experience but when you do order takeout they do a good job separating the hot and cold items.“
“Superior meat-like Panchos in Cville. Was surprised at the freshness. Very kind. I got there at 9:29pm and they still took my order with a smile. Great service and easy parking. I will be back when in the area. Kind hearted people!Dietary restrictions: Gluten Free-Carnivore“
“I got out from work later than expected while working in Louisville, KY. Hungry and tired I was just not going to do another drive-through this Friday night. I found "Mi Casita" and ordered the Taco Plate. I was planning on taking back to my hotel and although they were getting ready to close the staff and manager let me stay and eat my food comfortably. I am grateful to them for their hospitality but let me tell you, the Tacos were incredible with rice and beans. My wife got lucky she wasn't spending the night with me because I was honestly loaded with heavy ammo. ? Love this place and was very affordable.Parking: If you park and walk while hanging out in the local city this is convenient since city parking is not always convenient. Otherwise drive around a block or so and find a meter parking spot.“
“You'd be hard pressed to find a better guacamole in Louisville. I'm serious. Unbelievable guacamole. The rest of the items that I sampled this evening were above board, but the guacamole was out of this world. Will return. Also, the margaritas were impeccable!“
“Great atmosphere, food, margaritas and service. Reasonable prices too. It was very clean and organized too.I was shocked it wasn’t more busy.People of Louisville, you’re missing out if you don’t come here.I walked from my hotel and it was difficult to see in the dark because the building is set back off of 4th st and the windows are tinted dark.“
“Wow. As a Mexican... I approved and certify this restaurant! Totally amazing. GREAT food. Great Service. Quality was really good. I had Fajitas with Steak, Chicken and Shrimp and they were amazing. Portions are very generous and prices are totally acceptable. I also had Horchata Water and the flavor was really good. I totally recommend having lunch or dinner in this place. Will come back for sure.“
“Title: Delight on Wheels! The aptly named 'Hope on Wheels' taco truck has quickly become my go-to spot for an authentic and delightful taco experience. The quality of the food is top-tier and the flavors are unparalleled, reminding me of a journey through the heart of Mexican culinary tradition. The variety on the menu is just right. Whether you're in the mood for a classic al pastor, a succulent carne asada, or a creative vegetarian option, you'll find your cravings satisfied. So wherever you are in town, you're never too far from a little piece of Mexican heaven.I'm already looking forward to my next visit. Hats off to 'Hope on Wheels', for not just serving tacos, but also dishing out sheer joy with each bite!“
“Go here. You have to go here. The food is delicious and fresh. It's always top-notch. He's concerned with making sure the customer is satisfied, so when he questioned whether the bread was right, he went to a bakery and had them make bread specifically for his sandwiches. I drive from Fern Creek to get here. It is worth the drive. The tacos are delicious. The wet burritos are awesome. There is nothing that I have had at this food truck that has ever disappointed me. I love it and I adore him. The wet burritos are awesome. There is nothing that I have had at this food truck that has ever disappointed me. I love it and I adore him.“
“The staff were so nice and helpful and the good... Lemme tell you about the food... I'm a chef by trade myself and have worked in kitchens my entire life and the flavors they have .. ooo I swear are incredible! They only offer 5 stars for this review but I'd give them 6 cause they deserve it!!!“
“The food was delicious. Reasonably priced. Several vegetarian and vegan options. The staff was friendly and efficient.Vegetarian options: The house salad is great with a tasty lime vinaigrette. The veggie tacos are fantastic.Parking: Parking lot behind buildingWheelchair accessibility: Flat surface to enter building“
“I took my 3 employees on Thursday March 7th 2024 andAll of us were very satisfied with the food and service. I finally found somewhere that has chicken tamales and they were excellent. Also, my favorite place now for salsa sauce. Great place and has a lunch special menu too.“
“The tacos here are phenomenal. I have driven by this restaurant every night for 4 years on my way to work and finally decided to stop in. I regret not going sooner. The lengua tacos are soooo sooo good. The prices are reasonable. The service was fast and courteous. I will be stopping in on my way to work much more often!“
“Food I Rank 3 ⭐️ due to the lack of taste of true Mexico food ? for the food taste like any other American version of Mexican food.Serves I Rank 5 ⭐️ for the servers go above and beyond to accommodate the guest which makes the environment fill comfortably relaxedAtmosphere I rank 5 ⭐️ for the music, environment, is sorta like a Mexican environment. Therefore I give a 4 ⭐️ for effort and not a 5 star due to the food just didn’t remind me of true authentic Mexican food.“
“It was great! Fast and exactly what I'd expect of a diner. I thought the Cheese coney dog was a great dealseeing it on the menu. When it arrived it was very small compared to my expectations... however, then I realized that it fairly matched the price. Next time, I will know to order two.“
“I enjoyed my lunch. Best squeezed OJ I’ve had in a while. On the pricey side for a burrito and OJ ($22). I got the drunk burrito chicken which was a good size. Staff were very friendly and plenty of places to sit. Everything seemed fresh, but did come out in 5 minutes. I’ll go again.“
“Food average, meaning nothing bad at all but what you would expect from a local Mexican restaurant. It's nice to get what you have come to expect. Food was inexpensive, good & abundant. Good place to gather with friends. Comfortable place to hang out in. Service speed is outstanding! Not sure how they do it! Slightly difficult to get extra items after food has arrived so it pays to order everything at once!“
“Gustavo's was a tantalizing taco adventure for my wife and me! She savored every bite of the succulent Shrimp Tacos, while I indulged in the flavorful Al Pastor Tacos. Washed down with ice-cold Cokes, it was a match made in culinary heaven. The salsa and queso added a delightful finger-licking touch to our experience. Kudos to the impeccable service – our drinks were refilled with perfect timing, and extra chips magically appeared when we needed them most. The relaxed atmosphere was the cherry on top, allowing us to savor every moment without feeling overcrowded. Gustavo's, you've won our hearts and taste buds – we'll definitely be back for more taco bliss!“
“This is a really tasty quick place. My only complaint is the quesadillas are a bit oily. I prefer them dry on the outside, but the cooking oil is still on there. The flavors more than make up for that. Every item I have tried in 5 visit has been so tasty.“
“Authentic food, recommend the Quesabirria. They have a margarita tower as well, definitely worth it. There was music for a couple of minutes, but they stopped playing music for the rest of the time. The service was fast, you'll have your food within minutes.“
“This is my favorite Mexican food in louisville. I have been to most. We always shop first.they really have the best store here.wonderful meat market. The we go to the restaurant. Very good caldo de res. Chicken quesadilla is one of the best. Very simple and quick. Steak burrito is plentiful. Beans and rice, good. Then to the bakery. Very good, fresh breads, cookies and cakes. Lastly, dessert. Nice fruit and ice cream. My wife always gets flan for take home. The main ingredient? Customer service is the best here. We have been going here for years and not once had a rude person wait on us!! Seriously, everyone has been kind and helpful at this establishment. That, more than anything keeps our business.“
“Good food with good prices. The shrimp fajitas were good and didn’t taste fishy. They were generous with the protein portions. A person in my group got a shrimp cocktail and enjoyed it. They complied with her request to not have cilantro in her dish.“
“Wow, what a great place! My wife and I visited Louisville, and on the recommendation of a local, popped into Mayan Cafe and were completely impressed! The hostess and waitress were extremely nice and even though we came toward the end of the night were very welcoming and never hurried us along. The margarita with mezcal I ordered was perfect, and the dark, romantic room was fun and had a good, buzzy energy. We ordered the sikil pak and both agreed it was the best we've had - great depth of flavor and silky texture, it is a must-try! The scallop ceviche was also great - the scallops were marinated to the perfect texture, the flavors were fresh and bright, and the serving size was generous. My wife ordered the tuna tacos and loved them, raved about them. I ordered the duck with black mole and it was really great - succulent dark duck, confited and served shredded, tasted almost like deeply roasted, juicy pot roast - awesome flavor, but the mole was the star - great compliment to the duck. We split the cochinita pibil and both loved it - the achiote sauce was beautiful to look at and tasted earthy and complex, and the fried plaintains it was served with were nicely tourneed - a cool little touch that added to the fancy vibes of the meal. Even though it is certainly gourmet-level and very interesting food and a great way to experience a different kind of "Mexican" cuisine, and the dishes are crafted with love and look great on the plate, the prices were very fair and not too expensive. We loved Louisville, plan to visit more often, and will definitely be back to Mayan Cafe (to hopefully try the rabbit next time!). Highly recommended.“
