“This was our first time here, and we got there unbeknownst 2 mins before closing. But Darnell welcomed us with open arms anyway. He was our server, host, cashier, busser and bartender. Let me start off by saying that he is such an awesome person with the best attitude and great recommendations. He made a delicious margarita ( the best I've ever had-margaritas are my favorite drink and I'm a former bartender/server for years) and the food was also on point. It came really hot, fresh and quick. We ate everything on our entire plate! The establishment was very clean and welcoming. The people next to us were first timers, too and they were also impressed and complimenting. We all left happy and full. We will be coming back and bringing more people to see him. Thank you for the great experience. We can't wait to share this place with our friends. Darnell, you rock!“

“I put too much sauce on the chili Riano and it all dripped out into the bag on the napkins on the fork everywhere it was underneath the box and everywhere they put too much juice so they should’ve wrapped it up with something. The lid was even open.“

“Me and hubby come here every Sunday morning for soup. He gets pozole and I get chicken noodles the soups are amazing. We also buy their fresh bread and donuts. We drive from Merrillville which is not that far but their soups are worth it. Also, their service is amazing. Paula is a great waitress and so friendly and nice. We love seeing her every Sunday. It does get packed but it's worth the wait which is never that long either.“

“My first time here at La Carreta. I’m going to say that the quality of the food is good. I order a Taco loco Combo. The flavor of the Carne Asada was delicious and the Chorizo as well. The Carnitas need more flavor. The corn tortillas were amazing you can taste that are made in the tortillería no from package. On the rice flavor is good but on the refried Beans would be better if were refried with Lard not with Oil. But other that Food is really good and service.“

“I called to make sure they would be open on a Sunday at 730 pm . the recording said open until 10pm and so did the facebook page. I load up my clubs with a few others to play. We get there and its closed. What a waste of time and my fuel. This is the second time having this happen at this place . I definitely can't wait until the other one opens in chesterton. I can only hope they are open the hours they state they are .So more time effort and money isn't wasted like I have had happen to me. I sure won't be waisting my time here anytime soon.“

“We found this place on our way to Raleigh, NC from Chicago. Stopped here after reading reviews online. TRUST THE REVIEWS that say this place is good...IT IS GOOD! We just moved to the Chicago area from South Texas, so we know good Mexican food and this place does not disappoint! If you are anywhere near Gary Indiana, you have to stop in to Chela's. It's not fancy at all, but is very clean and the prices are good. We had the Birria Tacos, chips and salsa and several different meat tacos. Then, on our way back from North Carolina, we stopped in again! My fiance thinks this is the best Mexican food outside of Texas. THAT'S saying something! We can't wait to go back!“

“Was headed to my favorite Taco place and a friend suggested this place instead based of their burrito that “HUGE” and let me tell you, I was bummed with the change of plans but I was not disappointed!
The had adequate seating, comfortable ambience, CLEAN tables, and fast service. He got the “named burrito” (just forgot the guys name) and a small cheese fry, and I got the gyro sandwich. Mine was H•U•G•E and his was massive. I plan on returning and trying their tacos. They have specials, Tuedays is $2 tacos at time being. I highly recommend if you’re looking for this type of food. “This restaurant is absolutely fantastic. I cannot believe it's just right in the middle of downtown Hobart. Every dish we ordered was superb, and our server was incredibly careful about my food allergies. I highly recommend the ceviche verde and the filete la marinera. My spouse had the paella and loved it, as well. This is up there with the best restaurants I've ever been to across the entire country, and I do not feel like I'm exaggerating to say it. “This place was the BOMB! I just wish I lived closer than 2 1/2 hours away as I could eat there multiple times a week! Dinner for me was the Arandas Cheese Steak which was thin strips of steak marinated and grilled in Pico de Gallo and their cheese sauce served on 3 flour tortillas w/ lettuce, tomato, sour cream and rice (Absolutely DELICIOUS!) My friend had the Chile Verde and said hers was delicious as well! We had started with Guacamole which was fresh, chunky and delicious as well. If we had not left the area before noon the next day, I would have begged to eat lunch there! I'm NOT even kidding!

“Came in to place a togo order. I told the lady at the front that it was my first time there and I'll be a minute to decide. She showed me 2 signs where they had specials and told me to take my time. I ordered the 3 Karla tacos special, the small rice & beans mix, and the cup elote. The rice was a bit on the dry side but the beans had great flavor. Elote was very flavorful with a nice and subtle spice. Tacos were pretty good. I'll definitely have to come back to dine in and try some more menu items out!“
