“My husband and I already ate a small breakfast when we decided to stop in and get a couple of tacos just to try the place out. We are definitely coming back! “We found this place on our way to Raleigh, NC from Chicago. Stopped here after reading reviews online. TRUST THE REVIEWS that say this place is good...IT IS GOOD! We just moved to the Chicago area from South Texas, so we know good Mexican food and this place does not disappoint! If you are anywhere near Gary Indiana, you have to stop in to Chela's. It's not fancy at all, but is very clean and the prices are good. We had the Birria Tacos, chips and salsa and several different meat tacos. Then, on our way back from North Carolina, we stopped in again! My fiance thinks this is the best Mexican food outside of Texas. THAT'S saying something! We can't wait to go back!“

“If you haven't tried Tere's Mexican food, you need to! There is a limited but excellent menu. They have one menu item that I have seen nowhere else but here: deep fried quesadillas. It's not what you imagine.. it's better than that! For a unique experience of authentic Mexican flavor, try one ASAP! Also, they serve tamales on every day they operate.“

“Places like this will be over looked if you not from the area. This food is great and service is ok, but the hole in the wall spot will have people like me not returning because how are you investing into your business. Why not fix up the place when you are making good money. I don't like investing in places like this.. it looks a mess inside and out.“

“The food is great. It is my go-to place for Mexican food. It's very hard to find good Mexican food near my home. Now, the young lady who takes the orders always has an attitude, for some reason, regardless of how nice and polite I am to her. I do wonder how that impacts their business.“
