“This was our first time here, and we got there unbeknownst 2 mins before closing. But Darnell welcomed us with open arms anyway. He was our server, host, cashier, busser and bartender. Let me start off by saying that he is such an awesome person with the best attitude and great recommendations. He made a delicious margarita ( the best I've ever had-margaritas are my favorite drink and I'm a former bartender/server for years) and the food was also on point. It came really hot, fresh and quick. We ate everything on our entire plate! The establishment was very clean and welcoming. The people next to us were first timers, too and they were also impressed and complimenting. We all left happy and full. We will be coming back and bringing more people to see him. Thank you for the great experience. We can't wait to share this place with our friends. Darnell, you rock!“

“A friend recommended Las Jacarandas for great Mexican food in the area. We ordered a ton of items to take out. Was not disappointed whatsoever! Tried an assortment of items (chile relleno dinner, variety of tacos such as beef, fish, steak, pork, chorizo, chicken mole) and everything was excellent! They have a sale right now. My $21 meal after doordash fees is $37 and that's not even including tip. It's a $8 fee just to use doordash. There's nothing yall can do about that because it's doordash but ts really suck I have to wait until tomorrow when I'm off just to get a burrito bowl.“

“Our first time at 'La Carreta' was great! Our host, Benito, was very kind to us and gave the kids some candy. I loved that they had margaritas in different flavors and sizes—some glasses were even bigger than they looked in the photos! Our waiter was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was good for the price, and they let us swap ingredients in our dishes without any issues. Even though we stayed a bit past closing time, the owner never rushed us out; they were so nice to let us stay a little longer.“

“I ordered the steak torta on my first visit and it was incredible fresh bread, tender steak, and a really balanced flavor all the way through. I went back the next week for the steak tacos, and they were just as impressive. The corn tortillas were cooked perfectly with that light crisp you want, and the steak was seasoned just right.

The red sauce has a good kick, so if you’re sensitive to heat you’ll feel it, but the flavor makes it totally worth it. Service was quick, prices were fair, and the food has been consistently excellent. I’ll definitely be going back to try more of the menu.“

“This place is my go to, and I live in Portage. Their fajitas are always so juicy, and delicious. I used to be a manzanita girl but their fajitas were dry the last 3 times I gave them a chance. This place has never disappointed me. It is a bit expensive, but everything is nowadays. Customer service has always been good and good delicious. I usually get fajitas and burrito frito. Would recommend this if you’re looking for Mexican food and are local. Their tamales are overpriced by the single-though, soI’d suggest buying a dozen for $18.“

We just moved to the Chicago area from South Texas, so we know good Mexican food and this place does not disappoint! If you are anywhere near Gary Indiana, you have to stop in to Chela's. It's not fancy at all, but is very clean and the prices are good. We had the Birria Tacos, chips and salsa and several different meat tacos. Then, on our way back from North Carolina, we stopped in again! My fiance thinks this is the best Mexican food outside of Texas. THAT'S saying something! We can't wait to go back!“

“We absolutely love their food. We usually get take out but the few times we have went in with our littles the staff was extremely friendly and caring. They always give all the kids a candy. It’s so nice to bring your little kids somewhere and not feel like a bother!“

The had adequate seating, comfortable ambience, CLEAN tables, and fast service. He got the “named burrito” (just forgot the guys name) and a small cheese fry, and I got the gyro sandwich. Mine was H•U•G•E and his was massive. I plan on returning and trying their tacos. They have specials, Tuedays is $2 tacos at time being. I highly recommend if you’re looking for this type of food. “Generally it was good, and we had a great time. The atmosphere was buzzing on the night we went with multiple birthdays happening. I had a strawberry margarita which was stunning, and the chips were awesome.

The food was good overall, but a bit dry to be honest. I had a El Capitan chicken burrito and it was definitely overcooked. My wife had the steak, and this was also the same however it had a great flavour.
