“The food was fresh and tasted fantastic. The ONLY thing that is not good here is the payments. I ordered a take out meal and paid with a card. Now, I do understand the credit card fees because I own a business and we do get charged a fee to get payments with cards. My problem is the fact that they ask if you want to leave a tip and feel it is important to leave a tip for services you are receiving however I do believe it should be my own thoughtful tip for the level of service I received. On their machine there is no custom tip button, you either elect to give them 15%, 20% or 25% tip whether you dine in or carry out. The girl was very nice and personable but all she did was bag my food that the cooks made and gave it me. That is not worth a 15% increase in my bill because I wanted to give the girl a tip and I had no cash on me. Other then that the food is amazingly good.“

“Very nice atmosphere, friendly waitress, I had the enchilada suiza, which was delicious, great flavor. Ribeye and shrimp was very flavorful. Steak fajita was flavored well too. This was my first time here, this will become a regular.“

“Would definitely recommend this place, especially for vegetarians they have many options, I had the paneer tikka torta with the green salsa, absolutely delicious. Their warm home made salsa and fresh chips were really good too. Great services and ambience.“

“Me and hubby come here every Sunday morning for soup. He gets pozole and I get chicken noodles the soups are amazing. We also buy their fresh bread and donuts. We drive from Merrillville which is not that far but their soups are worth it. Also, their service is amazing. Paula is a great waitress and so friendly and nice. We love seeing her every Sunday. It does get packed but it's worth the wait which is never that long either.“

“My first time here at La Carreta. I’m going to say that the quality of the food is good. I order a Taco loco Combo. The flavor of the Carne Asada was delicious and the Chorizo as well. The Carnitas need more flavor. The corn tortillas were amazing you can taste that are made in the tortillería no from package. On the rice flavor is good but on the refried Beans would be better if were refried with Lard not with Oil. But other that Food is really good and service.“

“We ordered delivery. At first look, my dish (the ceviche) looked delicious, vibrant, and fresh. Sadly, it was pretty bland and flavorless. BUT it did seem some care was taken with the preparation, and I appreciated that it seemed freshly made!
We had some special instructions for the chimichangas which weren’t followed, but my son said it still was really good and seemed good quality :-)
We also ordered horchata, but that was never delivered.“

“We found this place on our way to Raleigh, NC from Chicago. Stopped here after reading reviews online. TRUST THE REVIEWS that say this place is good...IT IS GOOD! We just moved to the Chicago area from South Texas, so we know good Mexican food and this place does not disappoint! If you are anywhere near Gary Indiana, you have to stop in to Chela's. It's not fancy at all, but is very clean and the prices are good. We had the Birria Tacos, chips and salsa and several different meat tacos. Then, on our way back from North Carolina, we stopped in again! My fiance thinks this is the best Mexican food outside of Texas. THAT'S saying something! We can't wait to go back!“

“Places like this will be over looked if you not from the area. This food is great and service is ok, but the hole in the wall spot will have people like me not returning because how are you investing into your business. Why not fix up the place when you are making good money. I don't like investing in places like this.. it looks a mess inside and out.“

“Other than having fantastic food, I had an excellent NA ( Non Alcoholic) Mojito. The NA menu is extensive ! It was so beautiful and well prepared, dry ice and all !! 😊 It made it feel special so you don’t feel like you’re missing out on the festivities of having a cocktail, without having the alcohol. “This restaurant is absolutely fantastic. I cannot believe it's just right in the middle of downtown Hobart. Every dish we ordered was superb, and our server was incredibly careful about my food allergies. I highly recommend the ceviche verde and the filete la marinera. My spouse had the paella and loved it, as well. This is up there with the best restaurants I've ever been to across the entire country, and I do not feel like I'm exaggerating to say it. I only wish we lived closer!“

“This place was the BOMB! I just wish I lived closer than 2 1/2 hours away as I could eat there multiple times a week! Dinner for me was the Arandas Cheese Steak which was thin strips of steak marinated and grilled in Pico de Gallo and their cheese sauce served on 3 flour tortillas w/ lettuce, tomato, sour cream and rice (Absolutely DELICIOUS!) My friend had the Chile Verde and said hers was delicious as well! We had started with Guacamole which was fresh, chunky and delicious as well. If we had not left the area before noon the next day, I would have begged to eat lunch there! I'm NOT even kidding!

“Came in to place a togo order. I told the lady at the front that it was my first time there and I'll be a minute to decide. She showed me 2 signs where they had specials and told me to take my time. I ordered the 3 Karla tacos special, the small rice & beans mix, and the cup elote. The rice was a bit on the dry side but the beans had great flavor. Elote was very flavorful with a nice and subtle spice. Tacos were pretty good. I'll definitely have to come back to dine in and try some more menu items out!“

“I've been a fan for a long time. The renovations made the place more spacious. The service was fantastic. The food was good and fresh! The only thing is that the torta meat needed more seasoning. Other than that it was a wonderful meal. Would highly recommend.“

The woman at the front taking the orders needs a different job that does not require her to deal with the public because her communication skills absolutely SUCKS. No worries they have lost other customers and just lost another one and anybody that I can tell. They are definitely not the El Norteno of old so sad after decades“

“This was our first time here, and we got there unbeknownst 2 mins before closing. But Darnell welcomed us with open arms anyway. He was our server, host, cashier, busser and bartender. Let me start off by saying that he is such an awesome person with the best attitude and great recommendations. He made a delicious margarita ( the best I've ever had-margaritas are my favorite drink and I'm a former bartender/server for years) and the food was also on point. It came really hot, fresh and quick. We ate everything on our entire plate! The establishment was very clean and welcoming. The people next to us were first timers, too and they were also impressed and complimenting. We all left happy and full. We will be coming back and bringing more people to see him. Thank you for the great experience. We can't wait to share this place with our friends. Darnell, you rock!“
