I’ve had reactions at other restaurants that led to hospital visits — so finding a place that truly understands gluten-free safety is rare. Don Hall’s in Fort Wayne has consistently taken my gluten-free needs seriously, and tonight was exceptional. My server, Ashley B, went above and beyond. She double-checked everything, communicated clearly with the kitchen, and treated my health with genuine care. What might seem like a small gesture to some means everything to people like me. “My husband and I went to Bistro Nota a couple of weeks ago on a cold rainy Friday night. We went because one of the owners/chefs is Jake - formerly of Chop’s Wine Bar (when it was at it’s best). As is Jake’s forte, the the food was fabulous! We tried several different things. We ordered a bottle of the “house” red wine from their varied wine list. It was a great wine, far superior to what I expected from anyone’s house wine! The Pain et Fromage was delicious-Homemade Sliced Rosemary & Sea Salt Focaccia served with Roasted Pepper Cheese Dip. For dinner we tried their delicious Bistro Mac & Cheese - for an “a la carte” item it was a large portion. We ordered Low country Shrimp (GF) from the “small plates” portion of the menu - my husband doesn’t eat pork so they graciously omitted the bacon. We ordered Beef Teres Major entree -Petite Shoulder Tenderloin, Roasted Garlic Marinated, Potato Veloute, Sofrito with Grilled Focaccia. The staff is engaging, congenial & professional. The atmosphere is comfortable, urban, slightly industrial. We will go back to Bistro Nota again and again !!!“

“I came in with my friends and had Grace as my server. She was probably the best server I have had at any restaurant in a long time. I asked her questions about different menu items and she knew all the answers. I was very impressed she had so many menu items memorized. She’s like a walking PF Chang’s Menu!! I originally ordered the Apple spice refresher but then upgraded to the alcoholic version and was very surprised by how much I loved it! Another great suggestion from our waiter. She was so sweet and kind and made me feel comfortable asking questions. Anything we asked for in terms of refills, sauces, or extra napkins was delivered within 30 seconds of asking for it. I’ve been to places where it takes 30 mins to get water! We truly had a fantastic experience and a lot of it was thanks to Grace. Definitely will be back!! Give that girl a promotion!!!“

Not exactly their strong suit, but workable if you’re strategic. I ordered the Caesar salad sans meat, which came with two breadsticks. I did detect a few bacon bits sneaking in—an oversight I let slide, partly due to personal context (let’s just say my summer at Purdue Fort Wayne wasn’t one of my finest). Still, the breadsticks were a nice touch. The real standouts came from the fryer: cheese curds, fried mushrooms, and onion rings, all paired with a Diet Mountain Dew. The cheese curds? Hands down better than Culver’s or Dairy Queen—crispy, gooey, and satisfying. The fried mushrooms were a revelation, especially when compared to the offerings at Baba’s (yes, I’ve been to all four Fort Wayne locations). Hall’s version is crisp, flavorful, and leagues ahead. This particular visit followed an echocardiogram across the street at Parkview Hospital—a moment that called for comfort and familiarity. At just $40 (tip included), the meal delivered exactly that. It wasn’t just food; it was a small act of self-care wrapped in breading and nostalgia. While Hall’s may not cater to every dietary preference, it delivers on comfort, consistency, and a sense of place. “We were given a table of 6 for the two of us due to their wait time being so long, and they had to put my small group there.
They had people standing nearby at stations which was fine. They were there a bit too long, and being next by our table was a bit odd. We suggest there being people who standby every once a while rather than be standing there 24/7.“

“We started with the crab cakes for appetizers and ordered the 14-oz ribeye, 6-oz filet mignon, and lobster tails for our main entrées. Our sides included broccoli, mashed potatoes, lobster bisque soup, and chili. Overall, the food was very good — the lobster bisque was probably one of the best I’ve ever had. The pretzel bread with the cinnamon-flavored butter was superb, and both steaks and the lobster were cooked to perfection.

The mashed potatoes were the only real disappointment — they were lumpy and cold. Another issue was with my date’s cocktail. I ordered a sangria, which was amazing. However, his Long Island Iced Tea tasted more like a cola (Coke or Pepsi) and had no noticeable alcohol flavor. Our waitress, Ashley, was super nice and attentive, but when we mentioned the drink issue, she became somewhat defensive and explained it had three ounces of liquor. The manager never came to our table to address the concern, which was disappointing.

Despite that, the restaurant had an amazing ambiance and overall, we had a great experience. The food was excellent aside from the few issues mentioned. That’s why I’m giving four stars instead of five. I would still highly recommend Backstreet Steakhouse — just maybe skip the Long Island Iced Tea and ask for your mashed potatoes hot!“

“Pizza sounded like a great option for a late family meal on a Saturday night, and B. Antonio's did not disappoint. We got two pizzas, one regular and one gluten free. Some pizza places have gluten free crusts available but cannot accommodate celiac disease safely. My wife had no issues at all after eating, so we are thrilled to have a celiac safe pizza option. The rest of us enjoyed the combination of toppings on our pizza as well- just the right amount of meats, vegetables, sauce, and cheese. We will definitely be back!“

“My husband and I used Pint & Slice's upstairs rental room for our wedding rehearsal dinner and we're so glad we did! We were able to book the space ahead of time and provide our order via email. The staff introduced themselves so we knew who our point of contact was and all the food was ready right on time. There was something everyone enjoyed (we even got a GF and vegan cheese pizza for those with dietary restrictions) and the pizza, salad, and drinks went quickly. The staff was super accommodating (even on a really busy day) and we were even able to add a couple pizzas last-minute when we realized how quickly our guests were smashing the ones we previously ordered. We will obviously keep stopping in for slices and pies, but would recommend anyone to book the room for your special event as well!“

“Last Saturday I stopped by and I was the last customer. Pierce gave me exceptional service! Normally places try to rush you through an order, he took his time and even when I had trouble with my form of payment he was patience and understanding. I told him his service was exceptional despite someone coming in late, it was like I was the first customer. The restaurant was clean despite telling it wasn't picked up yet. This means they took time during the day to tidy up the place. He was awesome! He deserves to be rewarded for having pride in his work !“

“We have eaten at Trolley Bar many many times and it has been amazing! We decided to take a chance and get carry out steaks (we were a little skeptical of getting our food to go, especially when you’re spending over $100 in steak and sides). Once we got home, our food was just as good as if we were sitting in the restaurant eating! Trolley Bar did not disappoint and everyone did a great job from start to finish. Thank you!“

My daughter had the Fuji Chicken Apple salad and enjoyed it. Service was great but the dining area was not very clean at all. Lots of dirty tables and carpet.“
