Ice Cream Shops near Whiting

“The Mexican ice cream shop is a pretty good spot to treat yourself. It is located in the heart of Whitting. I stopped here on my way to the Mascot Hall of Fame. It is also by the beach. There is free street parking on the street in front of the shop. The shop is very clean and has a small dining area, with Mexican music playing in the background. They also have a table and a couple of chairs on the sidewalk that you can sit and dine on.Be sure to check in here on the Yelp app before you check out because I had a free scoop of ice cream reward when I checked in.They have an assortment of homemade ice popsicles, a couple of freezer full of ice cream and sorbets, banana splits, mangonadas, elotes, strawberries & cream, and yogurt. You can get your ice cream in a cup or various styles of cones. You can also allow you to sample the ice cream to help you to make the tough decision of what flavor to get.The staff there is very friendly and helpful. My littles got a scoop of bubble gum and a scoop of Superman ice cream. I got a mangonada. My kids loved their ice cream. They ate every little bit. My mangonada was equally good. I will admit that I always feel stupid when I come into a Mexican ice cream shop. I have no idea what some of the stuff is and find myself having to look it up. The ice cream is my guilty pleasure though.I really like this place. They have top notch service and delicious high quality ice cream. I highly recommend checking this spot out and treating yourself to one of their delicious treats.“

“Ice cream is always so good! Nobody beats ice cream on a hot humid night. What's best about this ice cream is it does not melt as soon as you get outside. I was able to eat 2 scoops without it melting in 90° humid weather. Whoo hoo! ??“

“Bathrooms were nice to p*** in, didn't buy anything here. But it was a nice bathroom experience. It had a citrus like smell. While sitting, I overheard the employees helping costumers on which ice creams to eat. So I felt like I had to leave this review for all those real costumers out there. 👌“

“We stumbled across a delicious ice cream spot. My daughter has been begging for ice cream all day. Shawn Michelle's was delicious. We had butter pecan, strawberry cheesecake and vanilla. My daughter is allergic to nuts and the young lady was nice enough to go in the back and wash off the ice cream scoop. “I can't say enough about Jodis about Jodis.Jodi and Brian are the best.They have a great staff and their subs are some of the best I've ever had.I reach out to Jodi regularly for large orders to feed my customers. She always takes great care of me and my customers. Jodis subs are by far a favorite amongst my customers. “The best deli sandwiches! I had a “basic” turkey sandwich but it was so dang good that she must have made it with love and some secret ingredients because it doesn’t even make sense how good it tasted. I got it will all of the toppings and the turkey was actually juicy and flavorful. Same with the Reuben ($2 off on Tuesdays). Husband said it was the best Rueben of his life (I tried it and agree). Instead of eating in the overpriced food court at the museum, hop over and support this local place instead. You will not regret it!“

“Our first time stopping in, but won't be our last. The Macroon's and Tea were delicious. My son enjoyed his rolled ice cream as well. I normally have Thai Tea, but came out of my comfort zone to try something else thanks to their help. Very friendly and helpful staff!!“

“I was so excited to try the Munster location as my family went to the original Midlothian/Oak Forest location countless times. I understand it’s a different owner now.Overall enjoyed our experience, the Poseidon was very similar to what I remember, although it needed more meat. My daughter enjoyed her hotdog and ice cream. If open for suggestions, I would recommend bringing chocolate malts to the menu as that was a trademark of the original UE. Also it would be great to see some more tables and chairs that are family friendly. We enjoyed it, but coming from Cedar Lake, would like to see more to be considered a meal destination. Thanks!“

“Stopped in for the first time today. 1st the girl working was awesome to tell us all the flavors in the case. Next I ordered the mango...I guess it's sorbet, delicious, absolutely delicious. Chunks of mango, sweet but not too sweet loved it. My grandson said it was the best icecream he's had and he got the red velvet cake ice cream. This will for sure be our regular spot.“

“I use to go to The Sweet Tooth when it was in Highland and have not been there since. New location, same great choices of candies, ice cream and sweets. I like going here and my kiddos loved it just as much.The workers were super nice too. The interior is well kept and decorated nice and friendly. “Ice cream cones are delicious and the ice cream flavors are amazing. I would give it 5 star but they only let you try one flavor (at least let us try 3) and the description of the flavors could be more detailed due to that. Besides that issue, ice cream on a cone was great here!“

“I normally order hot fudge Sunday. Only one time was my fudge warm. I always ask for extra topping like whipped cream nuts and cherries because if you don't you will be lucky if you get any. The last time I ordered it wasn't hot fudge it was more like Hersey chocolate and there was so little of it I ate 70% of the vanilla ice without it turning chocolate. It is always hit or miss when you go there. All of the girls are very nice bur there are a few that just do not care if they make a good bad or ugly sundae. But weather bad or ugly I still will go back for there awesome whipped cream and cherries and great tasting ice cream. Oh yes and it's the only place around that I know of that makes a knock out Boston Shake.Dietary restrictions: They have dairy free ice cream.Parking: Depends what time you go but they have a very small parking lot but plenty of street parking or a school parking lot across the street for the weekends when the line goes around the building.“
