“Walking into what looks from the outside to be a tiny, intimate place, the expectation was high. Dark interior is elegant and the drink and food menu seemed quite good. That is until the food arrived. While salad was very good with fresh ingredients, everything else, from spaghetti with meatballs, deviled eggs, to calamari, they were with overcooked, lacked flavor, or simply wrong. Pasta should be more al dente while meatballs should be, well, meatballs instead of weirdly shaped salty ground beef. Deviled eggs shouldn’t taste chalky (that said, it was better as a cold leftover). And calamari would’ve been a better dish as grilled, not deep fried fast food. Given its excellent service and classy ambiance, let’s hope they figure out how to enhance their food situation.“

“Riccos is the only place I know where I can go order a BLT the bacon is so crispy without asking for it to be prepared that way. It’s amazing! Tonight the tomatoes were clearly homegrown. It was the best BLT you can get in Kansas City. The Keylime martini is one of my favorites you can’t go wrong at Riccos.“

“We ate at Osteria Il Centro on a Saturday night at 5pm. Our server was Jay and he was wonderful. He suggested a red wine for my husband and N/A drinks for my daughter and I. We had the mushroom appetizers which were great. For our entres, we had the Lasagnia, Parmesan Chicken and the Orichette Gorgonzolla. The Lasagnia was the best I've ever had and the other two entre's were outstanding! Jay was so attentive and had a really fun sense of humor. All in all, we really can't wait to go back!“

“Delicious food, our server Abby was excellent and she answered all questions! Portion sizes are large and we loved sharing. The whipped ricotta was a show stopper!! If we return, I would ask for a table on the outer perimeter. We were next to the service island and with the host/bussers hurriedly going by on one side and servers on the other side, our table for two on our anniversary was not the romantic vibe I was hoping for...I marked it as our anniversary celebration when making the reservation and yet no mention of it or understanding we might want to quieter spot. It was our first time there so take that tip. Also, they must have been short staffed because there was no one greeting us at the host table and 4 parties were waiting over 10 minutes to have someone check us in for our reservation. The host was spending a lot of resetting tables because he was around us throughout our dinner grabbing items at the service island which is in the center of the dining area. It was a Saturday night for a 7:00 reservation. The value for the meal and experience was excellent...but overall not 5 stars since the personal details were missed.“

“Found Avenues through a Groupon. We bought the Shrimp Boil, Filet and Shrimp Scampi, Antipasto platter, and two cannolis. The meal portions were huge, our order could have easily fed 4 people. The shrimp boil was spicy, with a lot of shrimp, potatoes, sausage, and a whole ear of corn. The filet was flavorful, and the shrimp scampi was served similar to Alfredo, it tasted so good! The antipasto platter has lots of yummy bites, I really enjoyed the salami and artichoke hearts. The cannolis were great too! They also included a little bag of decorated mini cookies, with a ribbon and Go Royals! tag. I'm sure it was part of one of the entrees we ordered, but an unexpected but delightful little bread pudding was in our ca bag as well. Food was great, portions were large, and the staff at curbside was very nice. I do wish GPS hadn't left us about halfa block away though.“

“Our server, Robert, was AWESOME. He was very accommodating, helpful, and a great conversationalist!

Some things that Robert did for us that I consider above and beyond:

- He was able to change the channel on the TVs when a show came on that showed my wife's phobia.

- He mixed a great drink by asking my wife a few questions about their taste when they sure what to order.

- He talked with us about one of our favorite local hobby shops.

- When he found out it was our anniversary, he gave us one of our desserts on the house!

Robert did a fantastic job at making our little night out extra fun :D If the rest of the servers are anything like him then we cannot wait to return
