Only critique was the music was terrible. Something like a wedding DJ/christian/modern country playlist.
For a place this cool and vibey, you really need a DJ in there or some better playlists.

Within an hour I was chatting to the very friendly local patrons and playing pool. The lady working the bar was so nice and welcoming. I’ll be back for sure before I head out of Kansas. Oh, the beers on tap are freakin’ HUGE! I didn’t eat anything, so not sure about the food menu here.“

“As a local, I love chez Charlie's and love that it's a dusty dive bar, but what the actual freak is all over the blinds in the front.? The blinds look like they were splattered with blood and not cleaned up after the crime...seriously concerning..?“

No where in the check out process do they tell you this. This seems excessive for 6 utensil packs and 5 takeout containers. Many other BBQ places with similar price points do not charge this fee. If you are going to charge extra fees be up front about it.“

“We happened upon this place, honestly. Because we needed to use the restroom but, we wanted to be good patrons and checked out the menu. Opted for the Jerk Chicken Bao Bun & Blackened Shrimp appetizers.
Oh my god!! I swear, they have the absolute BEST jerk chicken I've ever tasted. Perfectly grilled/smoked and flavorful and just the right spice, on a soft steamed bun. The blackened shrimp was also phenomenal with great char and served atop jerk sauce and tropical fruit to complement the heat & sweetness.
The gentleman who served us (our bill said his name was Jims D) what a great conversationalist. We talked about the history of the place and how they are working to get their liquor license (which is taking quite a bit of time with the city, btw). We were having about the food and he mentioned another dish they were cooking up, which included this amazing cheezy/garlicky mashed potatoes. Tasted like it had both regular & sweet potatoes. If we weren't already so full, we would've got some to go!!

“I failed to post about this the other day. AR’s Breakfast & Brunch is one of the best places for breakfast in town. For those that know me their food is similar to my restaurants in Nashville. They just know me as “the Sysco guy”. I’ll take that! I got the breakfast tacos, but they made them my way with chorizo and jalapeños. It isn’t on the menu that way but it was awesome. Buen provecho!“

The tamales are the highlight—the masa is light and fluffy, not heavy or dry like most places, and they’re stuffed with meat that actually has flavor. The salsas are the real kicker; mild was great and the hot has a kick but so fresh you’ll keep dipping even when your mouth is watering. To top it off, the margaritas actually taste like tequila and fresh lime, not that sugary bottled mix. They’re strong, simple, and hit the spot perfectly.“

“This is a historical restaurant you should visit for the experience! Amazing it's reopened and appears to be doing quite well! Our special occasion was celebrated with friends and family and reservations well in advance! Thank goodness we took the time to do so! The atmosphere is one of the best around, which set the tone for our night! Our drinks were wonderful and taste to perfection! Our steaks were all different cuts, and 4 of the 7 were pretty tough, and kinda disappointing! We dealt with it and never complained or let it hinder our evening! The flavors were good for the food! The escargot appetizers were the best we'd ever had! Our entire group was overly impressed! In addition, the members of our group that had never tried escargot was filling up on the delicacies! Great choice! Parking can be a bit of a challenge with apartment buildings all around, and a half lit lot! We'd definitely visit again to give it another try and enjoy out evening out! Our next visit, I'd request to drop everybody off at the front entrance and find a parking spot afterwards! We hope you enjoyed your evening as well as we did!“
