“Service was the only issue that we had. We had placed order for curbside pickup. When arrived at pickup time I called the number on the sign. I was immediately placed on hold once someone answered the phone. After being on hold for 3 minutes they finally came back to phone and told me that they would be out with the order once it was ready. It was 15 minutes later before they came out with order. There was only nKid-friendliness: They have a good variety of options for kids“

“There are many Indian restaurants in Louisville, and Shalimar IS THE standard. The richness of their food can not compare to anyone else's. The Tikka Masala is the best I have had by far. Shalimar is one of the first Indian restaurants in Louisville, and they still stand proud. Don't pass an opportunity to check them out.“

“We took our out of town guests yesterday. Our server Jessica was amazing! She really made our night! (If you are reading this Jessica, y’all/yins did a great job! Lol.) Everyone loved their cocktails. The pork chop was very tasty and perfectly cooked, loved the shrimp and grits… so flavorful! The salmon was also delicious! We had the cheese and hummus plate as a starter and I was not a fan. The hummus was gummy and had an odd flavor. The rest of our group didn’t mind it. I could have had the bruschetta as my meal… yum! For dessert we had the bread pudding and asked to have some bourbon to pour on top (so good!), the lava cake (wow) and the brûlée (coffee flavored and very nice). We were the last to leave and Jessica and the rest of the staff treated us if we had all the time in the world. We so appreciated that! Our experience was so special! Thank you!“

The staff I encountered spoke English, so don't let a language barrier stop you from trying them. The Cuban sandwiches and yuca frites are the best in town. The portions are generous. The desserts are gorgeous! Prices are reasonable. It's hard to see from Fern Valley Road, so don't miss it! It's hidden behind the used car lot at the southern corner of Fern Valley and Shepherdsville Road.“

“We arrived at the restaurant at 6:30 for a 7:15 reservation. Luckily we were able to be seated. Abbey was our server and was fabulous!! She was attentive, but did not hover. We had just come from the track and just wanted to relax and have a drink before ordering food. Abbey didn't rush us at all. “This is one of the easiest reviews I will ever need to write. My friends from out of town wanted to go for Indian food. I have been to MANY of Louisville's best. I looked for the BEST of the Best and found Kathmandu rated the highest at the time of this review. Why not try a place I haven't been yet and write a review. We arrived around 6pm on a Wednesday night. It was a quaint place, clean and very comfortable with the inviting, colorful lights, yet not too bright. As soon as I stepped in the door, my senses started dancing. Besides being a small restaurant, the kitchen was close by. My wife and I and our friends from out of town found a booth and anticipated some good food, trusting the reviews to be valid. Ujina, was our server and host. She was very delightful and couldn't have done a better job making our visit rewarding. Ujina took our beverage order. We all asked for water. Ujina replied, with ice, or no ice? I like that. This is going to be a very detailed experience. She then took our food order which when I took my turn, added a couple appetizers, namely Onion Pakora's and Fried Mo Mo's. They were brought out first with some tasty sauces. We all enjoyed them very much. Our entrees arrived soon after the appetizers. I ordered Chicken Karahi, which is one of the BEST dishes I ever had ANY where. The chicken was quality chunks of goodness, the flavor unmatched and sauce thick enough to sop my garlic Naan in. We ALL ordered garlic Naan. Both couples ate one order and had another order left to take home along with left over entrees that came with basmati rice. My wife ordered Chicken Curry like she usually does and said this one was different than any other and Better. Our friends ordered Goat Curry and Chicken Tikka Masala which they were thrilled with. Another couple came in shortly after we arrived and sat on the opposite side of the restaurant. Other than that it was quiet. When we were ready to leave, I paid the bill, got a Military discount and spoke with the Owner/Chef, Purna. I can tell he cares about what he does and wants everything to be the BEST it can be. Kathmandu lives up to the highest reviews and IS the BEST Indian food in Louisville. The ambiance is very nice and the service is second to none. We never needed to look for Ujina for anything. She was there before we ever asked, filling our cups. I can't say enough about the texture and taste of the food. My entrée could only have been better with some MORE sauce, which I told Purna. He said next time ask for some more when ordered. The sauce is liquid gold. The veggies were perfect and the chicken was premium. I can't wait to go back and try something other offerings.“

“Absolutely delicious food in very generous portions! You will have multiple meals for sure or could even easily share a meals between 2 people. The menu caters to a variety of appetites (seafood, meat, vegetarian, etc.) Meals are cook to order, so it does take a little bit of time to be served depending on the order, but it is SO WORTH the wait and every single penny! Money well spent! The restaurant is clean, colorful, and has touches of tropical flair. The chef and head of the restaurant are both very professional, hospitable, and flexible. They were gladly willing to adjust meals to accommodate dietary needs. They gave detailed explanations of the meals and gave exceptional table side service. even bagging up our food for us and bringing more condiments out without even being asked before we left. They absolutely take pride in every single aspect of what they do. and it is so very evident that they deeply care about their food. business, and customers. They were so welcoming and we even discussed possibly hosting another birthday party there with them and they were all for it, even offering to let us decorate if we wanted and a private space depending on how large our group was. They also cater! They are open daily, and clearly love what they do! The strip mall they are in does make them a little hard to see from the road, but their store front does have pictures and signage that makes them standout compared to the other surrounding businesses. Our entire family cannot stop talking about how much we loved it! Cannot recommend them enough. and cannot wait to go back and try more of their dishes! THANK YOU OCK LLC!“

It's a warm sandwich and the flavors just were not there for me. It got a little soggy and I think my picky eater gene just turned on. I think I'll stick with cold sandwiches from them. I did finally get to try their focaccia, and OH MY GOODNESS. Why did no one tell me that I would sell my soul for a piece of garlic-y bread?? Their garlic focaccia has got to be the best one. It does have large chunks of cooked garlic in it, so if you are not a garlic girl I would maybe try the plainer ones. Also picked up some cannolis-- I'm not sure how frozen cannolis manage to stay so crispy and crunchy but they do. I seriously love this place, whether I'm picking up individual ingredients or grabbing lunch, it's such an amazing spot to go to.“

“Sooo good. This was our first visit and rarely do I eat out and immediately want to leave a review. I had the vegetarian fajitas nachos and it was perfect. I usually want sour cream but this was perfect without it. The veggies, beans and cheese were evenly distributed, fresh snd flavorful. My husband ordered the stuffed poblano peppers with chicken, rice and refried black beans. He was impressed as well and the black beans may be the best refried beans I've ever had. We will definitely be back. Give this place a try- it is fantastic!“
