“If you’re anywhere near this place in Louisiana and don’t stop, you’re doing it wrong. The crawfish and crab legs were unreal—perfectly seasoned, messy in the best way, and the kind of food that makes you completely abandon dignity and just go all in. Every bite had that bold, authentic flavor you hope for but rarely actually get. You can tell immediately this isn’t just food—it’s pride, tradition, and people who know exactly what they’re doing. And then there’s the gumbo. I got a gallon to go, which felt slightly excessive at the time… until it wasn’t. That gumbo made the trip all the way back to DC and somehow tasted just as incredible—maybe even better. It was a full-on hit. Rich, hearty, perfectly balanced—honestly the kind of gumbo you think about days later. But what really makes this place special is the people. Sera and Pops are absolute gems. The kind of folks who make you feel like you’ve been coming there for years, even if it’s your first visit. Warm, genuine, and clearly pouring their heart into everything they do—it shows in every dish and every interaction. This isn’t just a meal—it’s an experience. And it’s one I’ll be talking about (and craving) for a long time.“

“Food so good. Been eating there for years. My family eats there. Very delicious and I definitely recommend. Some of the best chicken and shrimp fried rice. Everything just very good. Guarantee you would go back. Service and timing is great. Always cooked when you order so everything is fresh and hot.
Parking: It’s not a large parking lot but no one is there long so there is enough room for everyone that comes.“

“I can NOT SAY ENOUGH WONDERFUL THINGS about the Mother’s Day buffet. My family enjoyed the phenomenal Easter buffet and looked forward to the Mother’s Day; let me say, we were impressed once again. So many wonderful things I could not sample everything but here are my favorites 1. The eggs Benedict … this delicious golden yolk cascaded down, mingling with the silky thyme hollandaise to infuse into the soft English muffin…. Absolute delish!!! 2. The shrimp and grits …. Perfectly cooked spicy shrimp with Gouda grits was a testimony to why southern Louisiana cuisine reigns supreme …. And the Monica sauce elevates it to elegance while still your tummy is pampered with down home comfort. 3. The fried fish! This is a chef’s secret because it was not traditional fried fish. Whatever the secret, it delivered scrumptiousness in every crispy tender bite! Oh and don’t forget the homemade tartar sauce! 4. …… and the perfectly cooked Prime Rib! with the amazing horseradish sauce to complement … definitely a show stopper 5. The ambiance…. The service as always great …..Which seems to be part of the family atmosphere….. and the soft jazz …..taking it from just dining with family to Mother’s Day memories“

“We were just passing through town and decided to stop after seeing all the great reviews, and they absolutely did not disappoint! The food was delicious and full of flavor. There were several other items on the menu we’re already excited to try next time. We’ll be back in town in a few weeks and will definitely be stopping in again!“

It was amazing it was my first time eating any of the seafood on the menu and they helped me with the stuff on it it was my first time crab leg and the waiter was nice and showed us how to eat it same for crawfish. The foods taste was amazing.“

“If you go, give your tip directly to your server in cash and tell them it's not a tip, but a gift. Koal's pays their employees weak pay and acts like they're doing them a favor. Multiple employees over the years have told me Koal's keeps the tips we pay for the servers to have saying that the employees can have them if they want to make $2 an hour. Love the food there, but I won't support them after finding this out.“

“Chicken and Sausage gumbo is a must try!!! Debarge's is truly Cenal's Hidden Gem. If you are a series Jalapeños Lover as I am, don't drive off without having batteries jalapeños slices. There is just something about them peppers that polish off every meal at Debarge's. While your there take notice of the amazing friendly staff, Eden or Wyatt will truly remind you what good customer service is suppose to be like. 🙌🏼🙌🏼“

“I’ll start by saying this is by far the nicest restaurant I’ve been to in Alexandria. The food was adequate, well portioned and agreeable prices. The waiter and other staff were polite and largely prompt. There were a few instances that were less than ideal, but it seemed he was covering multiple sections and doing his best.
We were able to make a reservation within a few hours of dinner, and upon arrival, it really didn’t seem like reservations were necessary which surprised me for a Friday night. I had almost asked if there was a dress code given the vibe I was getting from the website, however there were gentlemen there in athletic shorts and baseball caps.
There are a few things they could do that would really elevate the experience:
Food: ease up on the Worcestershire sauce and ease up on the butter. The effect was greasy bread with a fine sheen and the steak just tasted cheap. Meat quality was akin to what you’d find at a nice chain restaurant.
Tables: there should not be a wobbly table in a place like this. Also, running an iron over the table cloths to remove the fold creases would take about an hour for one person. Again, it makes it look cheap.
Cleanliness: bussers should look under the table when cleaning. They left a bread plate and detritus under the table next to ours.
Service: speaking of bread plates, we should be offered clean plates for appetizers and not have to use the bread plate. Waiters should not be reaching over plates to refill glasses.
And lastly, this is more of a personal taste, cutlery should be heavier in the hand. Light, thin cutlery feels cheap.“

“I used to be a huge fan of Rosie Jo's. But now after eating their Cajun Nachos, I'm a full blown air conditioner! Best nachos I've ever had. Great portion size. Really balanced flavors. I'm very happy with my lunch today ❤“

“Excellent staff , clean restaurant and nice atmosphere. Dont know what some of these people ate that criticized but ive eaten at over 1200 restauants and this is up there . Like ive said this restaurant belongs in the big city. Great steak and shrimp. Great job to the chefs.“

“I don’t post reviews often, but I was super impressed. The mix of southern and Asian options were wonderful. Sushi tasted fresh. The fried shrimp was cooked to perfection; crispy, light, and great texture. I’m very picky so this was pleasant. Ranch was flavorless, that was the only downside. But everything else was perfect. Even the water was good for city standards. Will be back! New favorite!“

“I didn't rate the food because I'm a DoorDash driver so I didn't order it but I will definitely be coming back on my own time to have dinner or lunch! I was greeted with smiling faces and welcoming attitudes and helpful service! I was in and out quickly with my customers order and everything was correct!
