“Excellent food, priced right! The muffuletta was delicious. Perfect amount of olive salad on a French Bread loaf pressed with meats and cheeses that melted in my mouth!..Finished lunch with Almond Bread Pudding that was so good I will definitely so back soon to try the Mardi Gras version!“
“We stopped here while passing through from out of state. This place is gem! We opted for the chicken wings with sides of broccoli cheese casserole, mashed potatoes with gravy, and green beans. There are many options for sides and it was hard to choose. Everything was so good! The loaded mashed potatoes and gravy were absolutely the best I have had. Green beans were perfectly seasoned and the broccoli cheese casserole was so yummy. The fried chicken wings were fresh and steaming hot and very flavorful. I doubt there's a bad item on the menu. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and we had an opportunity to meet the owner who is so sweet. She said the local economy is really hurting them and they have been slow. If you are local, please come support this establishment to ensure they survive. It would be a shame to lose this place. If you're traveling like us, be sure to stop. You won't be disappointed! Say hello to sweet Pamela and spread the love!“
“As if I didn’t already love this place enough but we ordered a tray for a Mardi Gras ball but accidentally called it in to the wrong location. Ms.Maria said “we got it no problem”. Her and the guys in the back had it ready in less than 10 minutes. She was so sweet and accommodating. We still made it to party on time. Thanks Maria and crew!“
“The food is always amazing, and you can't beat the price compared to these fast food places anymore and the quality of the food is really good , I've been coming hear for years and hands down the best dang Philly cheese I've ever had , burgers pizza all good ?“
“Shrimp and avocado salad was delicious and really hit the spot, so light and fresh. Wait staff is friendly but no one checked on me after I got my food or refilled my drink. Also please note their prices just went up so the prices listed on the online menu are no longer current. I mentioned it and they said they would remind the owner to fix that.“
“Coming from the east coast we were dying to have a good sub. We were spoiled with Publix subs (IYKYK). Poboy express came highly recommended by locals and we tried it today for lunch! Absolutely did not disappoint! Jimmy the owner was so welcoming and helped direct us to the exact sub we were looking for! I got the super Cajun and my husband got the rajun Cajun! They were fantastic! Cat fish was so fresh and the homemade tater sauce with delicious! Oh and the fries..one of a kind! Don’t skip the fresh baked cookies!!! Jimmy made sure we were throughly satisfied and takes so much pride in his business! It really shows! We will be back!“
“Just happened to see the website, and we are serious foodies and thought it would be a great place to dine on our one night in Alexandria. We were amazed at the quality of food and historic decor of this restaurant. The blueberry bread pudding was in the top 5 of any I have ever eaten. The sea bass was perfectly prepared. Our waiter , Trevon, was gracious and full of vitality. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and wine selections. You won’t be disappointed eating in this restaurant.“
“I used to be a huge fan of Rosie Jo's. But now after eating their Cajun Nachos, I'm a full blown air conditioner! Best nachos I've ever had. Great portion size. Really balanced flavors. I'm very happy with my lunch today ❤“
“If you're ever having a bad day ..Sentry Drugs is the place to go...not only do they have the best home cooked meals..they also treat you like family and know your name..you can get the best advice and a friendly conversation ...oh I can't leave this out how I love picking on Linda Joyce and Floshoot!!! I have fun with the whole staff.....“
“For dinner... our appetizer was Crawfish Bread & entrees were the Catfish Jenkins with blackened catfish, side of sweet potatoes, & Red Beans & Rice with fried catfish & side of Crawfish Mac & Cheese.Crawfish Bread: very good, super cheesy, slightly soggy.Catfish Jenkins : delicious, but order the fish fried, because the blackened is bland. We plan to order this again.Sweet Potatoes: amazing!!!Beans & Rice: also delicious, but different than what we expected; smokey, subtle flavor. We do recommend this.Crawfish Mac: we wished it was listed as an entree!Dessert: both the Strawberry Cheesecake & Banana Bread Pudding were excellent!! 10/10 HIGHLY recommend. I will likely be back just for dessert!Brunch was...Shrimp & Grits: fabulous; the gouda & creamy sauce MADE this dish; if you need NO shell, request the tails off! Otherwise, tails are on.Sunnyside up eggs, Sausage, Biscuit, & Hashbrown patties: eggs were good, as were potatoes, sausage was bland & greasy.Sweet tea is what you expect for good tea!Peaceful, enjoyable environment. History all over the building. At the front desk of restaurant, ask for Molly! She was so attentive at dinner. We were very impressed with her service.“
“Omg the food here is so GOOD! My husband and I get main dish as a treat every now and then and my goodness I love the food here! Always hot and fresh! I’ve never had anything that was bad! My fave is the shrimp po boy and the gumbo is the best I’ve had in a restaurant! The burgers are delicious too! One of our favorite places to eat!Parking: It’s a big parking lot but it’s always full so it’s kinda hard to find a space.“
“Beautiful place! Love the patio where you can sit with your pups. Beautiful green grass and a potty section. Music was great and the food was delicious. I have never had my daughter eat all her food in one sitting. I highly recommend the bread pudding!“
“One of those places that captures the exclusive excellence of local food that embodies the surrounding culture and what it values. At Philly's, it is clear that fast, fresh and mouthwatering fish and other dishes are poignant staples of the city and it's residents.? ? ? ? ⚠️ Drive thru and pickup only!“
“As I was eating, a lady came in and saw a friend eating as well. “You know about this secret too?” she asked. “Luckily,” he said. It’s a hidden gem that’s worth exposing. Fresh, hot food and comfortable conversation are hard to come by in this town, but Cafe Desoto has both. Try it out; get in on the secret! (Best Po-Boy in town)“
“The potatoes are awesome, with the exception of the bacon bits. My favorite is the traditional beef. The shrimp potatoe is good also. The shrimp are not devained, so I won't order again. They charge enough for the potatoes to provide real bacon bits. Wish they would offer a military discount as well.“
“VERY CLEAN, nice atmosphere, wonderful staff! Food was great, and not a bad price! The only catch is their lunch crowd, it's big!Kid-friendliness: Great place for whole familyParking: Plenty of parkingWheelchair accessibility: Yes it is wheelchair accessible“
“Went by Critics Choice this afternoon for lunch.Yep. It’s a good choice.I love the retro feel of the place. It’s a family-run business with a waitress whom I wish was everywhere i went. (Very, very dry humor, but not sarcastic. Very kind lady)It was a quiet afternoon in downtown Alexandria and we were the only customers at that time. It’s a sandwich shop. But, oh yes, these folks know how to make sandwiches. My club sandwich on rye was exactly that.Very good meats and a smooth creamy cheese, with crisp cold lettuce, tomato, with just enough mayo on toasted rye.Skyler had a yummy roast beef sandwich with gravy (on a kaiser roll).Stephanie’s corned beef looked phenomenal. We requested an order of fries. When crinkle fries are cooked just right, they are crisp, light, and stay good even as they cool. Yes, those are the fries we had. They call them ‘freedom fries.’ And it felt like freedom indeed from all the wanna-be fries that i’ve had.And Elijah’s personal pan pepperoni pizza looked perfect. Not too dark or too light. Well cooked food for a growing boy.The hot tea we had was perfectly brewedIf you go, expect a good sandwich in an atmosphere from the last century.Leave knowing you have just had a very good sandwich with a nice relaxed atmosphere in a family run business which cares about the quality of their food and the comfort of their customers.Yep, i’m going back.PS: When i spoke to the sweet owner, she did mention that she loved collecting clowns.Actually, there was memorabilia from several different genres.A little Disney, a little of the Hollywood stars from the 50’s, a holiday tree, beautiful holiday wreath, some gorgeous dolls, and a few clowns. The room was large enough that it didn’t seem oppressive.?Vegetarian options: Although this is a sandwich shop with good meats and cheeses, i did see a veggie only sandwich in the style of a Philly cheese steak sandwich.Parking: Street parking around the corner; also a parking lot right past the stop light.Kid-friendliness: Relaxed atmosphere with room between the tables. Several food options available.Wheelchair accessibility: Easily wheelchair accessible“
“We are from Ponchatoula, LA and had come to Alexandria for a concert. Saturday morning we woke up wanting a family owned local business for breakfast, I am so glad to have pulled up Mickey’s Red Kettle on google. We decided to try them out and I give them 10/10. Their Chicken and Waffles are the BOMBBBB!!! Oh, and let me not forget the specialty sausages (jalapeño cheddar, Louisiana Crawfish, Louisiana Alligator, Pineapple Jalapeño) and bacon (jalapeño bacon), that will have your mouth watering and craving all the time.I had to take me a couple pounds of sausage to bring home because they are that GREAT!! They are such an amazing family and great business and service. No issues at all. When we come back to Alexandria, Mickeys Red Kettle will be the spot everytime !!! Support local businesses!!!“
“I was scared to eat here because there were mixed reviews but it was a nice surprise. We sat in the bar area and Victoria was our waitress. To start, she was absolutely amazing! We had the Hennessy Bramble and Tee Time drinks and they both were delicious and Tee Time was STRONG (in a good way)! We got the Firefly Shrimp appetizer and it was ok…not really worth 13.00 though??♀️. For our entrees, we ordered several so that we could try some different things. I loved the quesadillas! It was sooooo good! The chicken panini was ok. My husband enjoyed the burger and said that the shrimp and grits were ok as well. For dessert, we got the Pecan Turtle cheesecake and the brownie melt away and both were out of this world good! It’s kind of overpriced but ok. Above everything, I absolutely loved the vibe of this place! We will definitely be back!“
“If you're looking for a great spot to eat great food and watch sports, this is it. Went with co-workers and had a wonderful time. The staff and our awesome waiter Monti was phenomenal ??. Will definitely be back to try that Chilli Salmon. I had the Tuscan Chicken with red and rice. ? ?“
