About Pastime Restaurant

Pastime Restaurant, located in the downtown area, is known for its diverse atmosphere and expansive menu that includes both poboys and pizza. The staff is direct and efficient, with orders being placed and picked up at the counter. The restaurant offers a self-serve experience, except for table busing.

The food receives mixed reviews. The pizza is praised for its freshness and delicious taste, while the shrimp poboy has been criticized for tough bread and lackluster seasoning. The burger is really good, though the calzone is average.

Despite parking limitations, the restaurant has hosted many State officials and offers a unique atmosphere that differs from the typical Baton Rouge experience. The ambiance is dive-y and sports-bar-ish, creating a casual and comfortable setting, especially popular with Tigers fans. During LSU game days, the Pastime shuttle provides an affordable and convenient option, with plenty of parking under the bridge and a police presence for safety. The place can get crowded but still offers great food and excellent service. Many recommend trying the pizza, and some plan to return for the overall wonderful experience.

Been ordering take out here for numerous years. The manager always takes and oversees my order and ALWAYS APPRECIATE AND GRACIOUS. Best food, best service they earn their 5 stars. Highly recommend.❤
A renowned local spot which lives to to its reputation. Pure old Baton Rouge. The bartender Meredith went out of her way to welcome me in warmly and made sure I was watered and fed. I didn't expect to eat there as a vegan but they gladly made me a custom poboy with just veg and balsamic dressing in that amazing bread.
The food was okay, but the staff were VERY nice and helpful!
