“Seiji’s Omakase, Metairie, LA

Gem hidden in plain sight on Causeway in Metairie. Mr. Seiji lends a creative hand on a variety of fish delivered with joy that it is hard to imagine Omakasa anywhere else. The setting is spare and simple tucked behind little Tokyo restaurant on Causeway Boulevard in Metairie. Keep your decor expectations low but the sushi is spectacular - talent that is difficult to hide.

What we ate:
Omakase menu that included a variety of fish Japanese snapper fresh tuna, fatty, tuna, salmon, king, snapper, smoked cod, fish, soup, Tataki, and a lot more.

Just put yourself in Mr. Seiji’s hands and you will have a spectacular experience.

“This is my go-to spot for sushi in the city. While there are several more premium options for sushi, they come with premium price tags. None of them hold a candle to Origami in terms of value. The menu here is extensive, so it will be easy to find something for everyone in your party. The rolls are pretty standard, but all are good. Their nigiri in particular stands out for being excellent yet being almost half the price of some of the other more hyped sushi locations in the city. Their cocktails are great as well.“

“SO happy to have the outstanding sushi place in my neighborhood now. We've only gotten takeout a few times thus far but have thoroughly enjoyed everything. The seafood salad I had last night was absolute perfection, and we've settled on the caterpillar roll being our collective fave.
I love that even the regular rolls feel special though and if course that it's all fresh as can be. Can't wait to go back and hope to get to be a regular for a long time.

After visiting several other Sushi local places that recently opened up in Metairie I really appreciate it going back to Uchi sushi. I suggest you ask them to cut the rolls in more pieces as they are huge! Great place to bring the kids. Mine have grown up going there“

I'd never had pork bellies, before, either, and the two in this ramen were so tender and so well seasoned. The crispy pork gyoza are, in fact, crispy fried dumplings; they were seasoned very nicely. And the broth was incredible; dense, and richly seasoned.

Although I'd been disappointed, somewhat, with their Chinese food, on my two previous visits (having been a 30 year regular at Chinese Tea Garden), as they're in the neighborhood, I decided to give them a try with something other than; I'm glad I did...

They, really, need to redecorate, as the, short-lived, Baby Cajun Saint decor ain't workin'. I'd love to see some of those classic Chinese Tea Garden paintings and calligraphy on the walls.“
