“I treated my husband and our children out to eat for our anniversary. The food was delicious and our waitress was attentive and polite, so I want to be fair about that. Unfortunately, the way a situation involving a homeless man was handled completely overshadowed an otherwise pleasant meal for me and my family.

The man approached our table and asked whether either of us had a lighter and possibly a cigarette. My husband gave him a cheap lighter he had in his pocket. The interaction was brief, and the man did not threaten us, harass us, or otherwise interfere with our meal. We were perfectly comfortable helping him with something so small.

What bothered me was what happened afterward. The man had already left the restaurant, after which the waitstaff and several customers began loudly gossiping about him in an extremely degrading and dehumanizing way. I understand that restaurant employees have to deal with uncomfortable situations, and I understand that customers may not want to be approached. If someone is being aggressive, threatening, or refusing to leave, that's a completely different matter.

But that's not what I witnessed here. What I witnessed was a vulnerable person asking for something small, leaving without causing us a problem, and then being spoken about as though he were somehow less deserving of basic human dignity.

I don't expect a restaurant to solve homelessness, and I don't expect employees to allow people to harass their customers. I simply think there's a compassionate middle ground between having legitimate concerns and treating a homeless person like a criminal for merely existing in the restaurant. Again, the food and our waitress were both great. I just left feeling deeply uncomfortable with the way this particular situation was handled.“

“This was my choice for Father’s Day lunch, I always did enjoy the burgers here. I heard they had new owners and I was nervous about my experience because of my expectations that I had previously. I was not disappointed every thing was cook great and the burger standard was met and this is place still after all the years I been coming here, they still have the BEST burgers in town.

Our server was great brought coloring pages for the kids, kept our drinks full, and was very colorful.

We had got there when it 1st open so it was very quiet but it didn’t last long the place was full before 1130 so it picked up but still was nice.“

“This was our first time eating here. I saw they had a mufulletta sandwich on the menu, so we picked this spot.
My husband had one of their burgers (I wish I could remember which one). The burger was great, but their fries are INCREDIBLE! My sandwich was exactly what I wanted. We also tried the Sweet Potato fries, which were also outstanding. This will become a regular stop for us when visiting Houma. The portions were so large, we ended up skipping dinner that night!“

The atmosphere is great because it is unique, they have kept the original concept and I personally really enjoy thay and appreciate them keeping with this drive in, park, and eat experience.
