“What an experience!
We met with some friends for the Omakase menu and it was well worth the cost. With this, you get 12 or 15 different sashimi options. Each were so delectable and tasted Ike the best quality. They presented about 3 of the 12 at a time so you were not overloaded with a big platter. Highly recommend if you like the raw type. Our server was fantastic and knew every single item that was placed on the table. Cocktails were so good as well and I recommend their off menu rum drink. Decor inside is cozy and modern but very inviting. Don’t sleep on the apps as well and you MUST get the Brussels! We will be back very soon!

“I love that it is a small, quiet spot where you can either grab and go or enjoy there. I went because they have a sushi buffet and the price is very reasonable. Many of the sushi rolls tasted similar but I think I ordered ones with similar ingredients lol. I would suggest small groups because the restaurant is limited on space.“

“SO happy to have the outstanding sushi place in my neighborhood now. We've only gotten takeout a few times thus far but have thoroughly enjoyed everything. The seafood salad I had last night was absolute perfection, and we've settled on the caterpillar roll being our collective fave.
I love that even the regular rolls feel special though and if course that it's all fresh as can be. Can't wait to go back and hope to get to be a regular for a long time.

“Chef Trevor is the kindest! The sushi is Amazing! I recently visited The restaurant for dinner after a long day of school my grandkids. And work myself. We were told by the hostess that there was an hour wait and that there was barely anywhere to sit so she advises that we could sit at the bar which we did the sushi bar that is. After waiting for some time Chef Trevor noticed that we were not being really engaged. He then asked me if the kids and I would like something to drink so what you said yes the hostess one of the waiters chef Trevor’s prompting, served us drinks as well as kept our cups filled Thank you! we were very grateful for the kindness that was bestowed upon us. The Hostess. After advising of the long wait, didn’t offer a drink of water nothing. Never engaged, never updated nothing. It was busy so I didn’t panic. We just waited. “So technically wasn't aiming to come here, but my navigator got confused(again). This is the second time I've ended up at a sushi restaurant that was not where we originally agreed upon. As long as it's good I'm always down for sushi though. They are more of a modern style sushi, with mostly specialty rolls to fit every appetite. I like how you can get half orders of some of their specialty rolls which we took advantage of. I know there was a kush and a bobby roll, a Ryan roll(?) and can't remember the last one, plus seaweed salad and salmon skin roll. Everything was excellent, especially the kush and bobby rolls. I can't believe I somehow ended up with mostly soy wrap rolls but I did. Even being a traditionalist to the point of snobbish, I was really wowed by these. My salmon skin was excellent too. The Sapporo was ice cold, almost slushy. So good on a secretly hot day in October. BUT being the sushi snob that I am, I have to admonish them for no mackerel. If you can't feed my saba addiction, you won't get my undying love and admiration.

“Amazing service, delicious rolls, I arrived close to closing and was met with kind faces. Though I was fully prepared to not be seated, they welcomed me and satisfied my hungry belly. The roll was much larger than expected, almost like a burrito. I was amazed at the great work in such little time. I loved the location as well, next to my gym and my favorite coffee shop. If anyone is on the fence, please decide to try it and hopefully, like me, love it. Thank you to the people who helped me out and made my night an enjoyable experience :)“

“So today I brought my family to UMI Hibachi and sushi in Chalmette to celebrate the twins birthday. We was given the lunch menu and ordered of the the lunch menu. I saw the the kids meal was $9.99 and the Lunch meal was $10.50. I specifically ask the young man what was the 50 cent difference between the kids lunch meal and the regular lunch meal . He told me that the lunch meal came with noodles. So I told him we’ll just give my boys a regular lunch meal. As he started to bring out the salad and soup I notice he only brought out one set for one of my boys. I told him I want the lunch meal for all of them. So he came back with more 2 sets of salad and soup. After we finish eating I get my bill and he charge us for the dinner combination Vs the lunch meal. I told him that not what I ordered. The dinner combination meals are $26.99 each . He said that we received dinner combinations portions so that what I have to paid for. First, I don’t have a problem with paying but that not what I ordered. I ask to speak with the manager . The manager send the waiter back and told him to tell us that there’s no negotiation it’s either we pay are else . So I’m the wrong individual to threaten like that. I send him back to his manger to tell her I’m not paying for nothing I didn’t ordered. The manager then came out and said the owner said that either we pay the dinner combination price or they was going to call the police . Now I feel very disrespected because you’re trying to make me pay for something I didn’t ordered, you’re also not trying to negotiate. So I told them to call the cop because the cop don’t scare me. The cop came and heard both side of the story . Ì eventually paid for what I originally ordered but the owner also ban me from the establishment. I’m writing this because this restaurant treated me and my family very unfairly. We went in there to celebrate the twins birthday because that what they wanted . If this was a black business ppl would blast them all over the internet. Please don’t go to to this business. Especially if you’re black… The owner wasn’t there but I know he knew I was black and while he was on the phone he kept telling the cop that I know he don’t want to paid . The cop kept telling him the guy has no problem with paying but only what he ordered. He ban me because they was wrong lol .. I already had it in my mind that I’ll never go back anyways .. “This is my go-to spot for sushi in the city. While there are several more premium options for sushi, they come with premium price tags. None of them hold a candle to Origami in terms of value. The menu here is extensive, so it will be easy to find something for everyone in your party. The rolls are pretty standard, but all are good. Their nigiri in particular stands out for being excellent yet being almost half the price of some of the other more hyped sushi locations in the city. Their cocktails are great as well.“

“Went on a Friday night (8-30-24) 6pm. Lots of choices and my wife loved the boiled crabs. I really liked the fried whole shrimp and they were big.
They were constantly replenishing the options with freshly cooked food. The staff were nice. The place was clean as were the restrooms. $40 for two adults I feel was a great value. I liked the sushi too.“
