“I have something to say about our stay at Lamar Dixon during the flood. I have heard people talking crap about the way they were treated, not being fed, and other hateful, vicious LIES. I, personally, had only one complaint and that was the army cots. The only reason my complaint is about that is due to my back injuries from numerous rear-end collisions, so a cot with a metal rod jabbing you in the back was not comfortable. Other than that, under the circumstances, our stay for a week-and-a-half was incredible. I met some amazing people, made new family, and new friends. The volunteers, the Red Cross, our military, our sheriff deputies, everyday civilians, people from out of state, local restaurants (too many to remember them all), Ninja Snowballs (came 2 days in a row and GAVE away free snowballs for 5+ hours each day), doctors, nurses, and pharmacists 24/7 for medical needs and emergencies. Vern's BBQ and Catering was there the entire time feeding us lunch and supper, on top of all the other companies who came and cooked for us. We had anywhere from 6 to 8 meals a day available to us plus snacks in between. So, if you are one of the people complaining about not being fed, you should be ashamed of yourselves for lying. If you didn't eat, it's not because there wasn't any food, it's because you were either 1) Too lazy to go stand in line to get it or 2) Too picky about what was being served. If you went hungry even one day there, it's your own fault. There was enough food there for us plus another shelter. People with pets had a place for their 4-legged family members and they were well taken care of. Tia Torres from "Pit Bulls and Parolees" came by with a hotel connection offering pet owners and their pets a place to go. Mr. Chad Blouin from LSU Sports came practically every day to check on everyone. He brought rechargeable chargers, Bibles, and even took peoples' clothes to wash and dry. All of these people gave their time, their own money, and some even more. From the first day we were there, the bathrooms were practically spotless, even though A to Z Janitorial was down about 3/4 of their staff due to them being flooded themselves. So, if you were hungry, bored, miserable, or anything else negative, it's probably no one's fault but your own. I have a whole new group of family and friends. You and you alone missed out on the opportunity of a lifetime, where you could've taken a bad situation and turned it into a positive, inspirational, learning experience, but instead some chose to complain about anything and everything. As my dad (R.I.P.) used to say, "You'd complain if they hung you with a new rope". A big thank you to Lamar Dixon, Mr. Don Hysell, Mr. Martin McConnell, Mr. Kyle Rogers, Ms. Vickie, Mr. Bernie Capone, Navy Veteran and Red Cross volunteer Norman Soren, all Red Cross volunteers, all civilian volunteers, all our Military men and women, deputies and officers, first responders, Mr. Kevin Johnson and crew from A to Z Janitorial, Mr. Vern, Ms. Debbie, and crew from Vern's BBQ and catering, Ninja Snowballs, all other restaurants, catering companies, and individuals who provided food and donations, and the Cajun Navy without whom many of us would not be here. There are many more whose names I never knew and if I forgot anyone or left anyone out, please forgive me. Much love and thanks to you all for a job well done under such trying and demanding circumstances. God bless you all.”

The food and friendly service were so great we had to stop in Saturday for lunch before the wedding! We live in San Antonio, Tx, but will definitely be back when we pass through New Iberia to visit family! That bread pudding looked good and the serving is large! We might have to give it a try next time! 😊”

“My wife and daughter went here tonight. I got the Black Samurai Ramen, my wife got sushi, and daughter got hibachi chicken and noodles. The food was fantastic as always. Workers very sweet and polite and helpful across the board. Next week they are starting an all you can eat for sushi and currently they have the fried veggie spring rolls as a free appetizer for a time. We eat from here often and have always loved it. 10/10 would highly recommend.”

The turkey necks were peeling off the bone and glistening in a fantastic, sweet and just barely spicy, brown sauce that was also drizzled over a bed of rice; the dinner roll on the side was perfectly soft, easy to peel and share; the sausage pea soup was so good, there were tears coming down my travel pals face (?️), this being the same person who initially figured that she wasn't hungry until I opened up the dinner plate. I’m not sure how Kim’s does it, but I pray that they don’t ever stop doing it! Kim’s “Honey Apples” are one of the best things that has ever happened to my mind, body, soul and mouth, all at the time! I have been eating Kim’s “Honey Apples” since I was a little girl and since they were in their 1st location that was just a little further down from where they are located now! I’m 37 years old now! Even after living in Houston, Texas from 2008-2022, there is nothing that compares to Kim’s “Honey Apples”! The “Honey Apples” are served hot, sweet and crunchy on the outside and has a fresh, I do believe green apple slice on the inside! I’m not sure how Kim’s does it but they could be Fried “Honey Apples”! One order of Hot “Honey Apples” comes with 8 apples slices for under $5.00! I still can not believe that a restaurant can make apples taste so heavenly, for such an outstanding value! Thank you Kim’s Chinese Restaurant! I give your “Honey Apples” 15 out of 10 stars! Oh, don’t take my word for it, go try Kim’s Fried, Hot, “Honey Apples” or Hot, Fried, “Honey Apples” out for yourself! You’re welcome!🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟”
