I came here for the first time because Lumber Jacks (another eatery I wanted to try seemed to have been closed for good).

I saw chicken and sausage gumbo on their menu, but they ran out.

I tried the shrimp stew. It came with corn and potato salad. It was good.

We also tried the fried catfish (2 pieces), and I really enjoyed the piece I tasted.

If you are ever on Moss St. and looking for a plate lunch, the Lunch Box might fill the void.“

“We grabbed BBQ plate lunches from Papa’s Boiling Shack today and they were absolutely delicious! The food was full of flavor, perfectly cooked, and you could tell it was made with care. I really hope they keep this going — we’ll definitely be back for more! 🙌 🍗🐷“

Second time in three weeks we’ve been in! Mitch was our server the last time and had the same experience!! “Consistently good crawfish, shrimp, potatoes and corn. We've been ordering for 8 or 9 years and keep coming back. Sure, you get the occasional bad potato or crawfish but those are the exceptions. We usually get the 6lb combo once a week during the season. No other restaurant can come close to getting that amount of business from us. And the claws on their crawfish....easiest peeling I've ever had.“

“We stopped here on a hunch going to Gulfport because there was a line of cars I ordered a shrimp po'boy and wings and fell in love before I drove out of the parking lot... long story short on the way back to Texas I stopped again for the same order. Lots of shrimp on the po'boy and the chicken was perfect“

“Looked for a sit down crawfish boiler between Ville Platte and Lafayette that was boiling for lunch on a Saturday. Cankton Cafe was one of the few sit down places open and boiling. The place was easy to find with plenty of parking. The staff was very friendly and attentive and the crawfish seasoning and quality was above average. Definitely a small town restaurant worth taking a detour for.“

“Ordered the seafood platter and a cup of gumbo. The seafood platter and etoufe was very good! The gumbo had good flavor but for $10 it had roux which was delicious and 5 tiny shrimps plus the bowl of rice, I like pepper , onion and celery this had absolutely no veggies! Please add a little more meat! And some veggies!! They are cheap and make a world of difference ,We will be back just make it better.“
