“We were visiting Snowshoe for my husbands 40th birthday. We had a 7pm reservation for a party of 10.Mind you we were all dressed in wacky tacky Goodwill outfits. Our Sat. night we had a Goodwill Date theme. We all chose names and got an outfit for that person.We were greeted with a smile from the hostess and were seated immediately. (Not because of our crazy outfits, but because they were perfectly on time for our 7pm reservation.)As we walked thru the restaurant, we were greeted by the manager, Mark. He was very pleasant. “We really enjoy their early bird specials. Peter loves the double tacos: shrimp and fish both fried along with a cup of white clam chowder. My favorite is the Boston baked haddock with cold slaw along with the white clam chowder. We both had the included lemon cake with fresh whipped cream. I love how the heat come on the end once you enjoyed the flavor of the fish. Must like cilantro!! The heat is complained by the freshness of the cilantro, my mouth waters... “I am a returning customer because our first visit was amazing. We sat at the bar and Our bartender was a nice young lady who was very knowledgeable and attentive at the bar. Very pleasant the whole time and the food was so amazing. Couldn't wait to come back.Then we came back...Peter was his name, and disappointment was his game.I asked for 2 Mojitos and I got 2 cups of gross sugary carelessness. My fruit and mint was not muddled or even shaken. He definitely just poured them in sequence over some lime and mint and handed them to us.I asked him to make them again cause we couldn't bear to choke them down. I was very nice and polite but I'm not gonna pay top dollar for zero effort.He brought the drinks back over...AND POURED THEM BACK INTO THE SHAKER! Added what I assumed was lime juice,(he did muddle them this time cause I asked him, even tho he said he muddled them the first time.)Then redistributed the drinks from the shaker back into the glasses and brought them back.After that he sat down and was folding napkins at a booth, away from the bar. Which on a Friday night seems strange to me.Getting up to help the lovely young lady's but kinda avoided us and also had and attitude with another patron at the bar so it wasn't just us ?The food thankfully was fantastic except for Peter not hearing us about the wasabi on the side of a sushi roll and put all the sauces together on the side including the wasabi.(Had to ask someone else for a spoon cause he was sitting at the booth away from the bar ?) Probably would have been better sitting at a table cause the guy who was doing the table drinks seemed on his game.All in all it was and uncomfortable experience and the only redeeming qualities were the food. “My family adores this restaurant. We’ve visited 4 or 5 times and each time we go the experience is excellent. The service is not the best ever - but it’s still very good, especially considering we’ve only ever seen one waiter there. No matter what day, what time, we’ve only seen this one individual taking care of the entire dining room. I’ve witnessed him navigating 9 or 10 tables the same way he does 2 or 3. He’s calm and pleasant, not frazzled or pushy. He’s a wonderful ambassador of the cuisine. If you ask his opinion of anything on the menu he will give an honest answer. It’s easy when everything is so good! But seriously, when you show interest, his excitement for the food is visible.Honestly, we’ve never tasted anything here that is underwhelming. The seaweed salad is awesome - not only one of the best items on the menu, but one of the best dishes we’ve tasted in Mansfield. The textures and flavors are wonderful. All the sushi and sashimi we’ve tried melts in your mouth and is delightful, no matter if it’s sauced, garnished or plain. The ramen and poke bowls are delicious and always deliver for your palate. I had one of the hibachi dinners tonight and it was bang on. Honestly it would be better if the hibachi meals were cooked on a grill in front of the guest, but their restaurant is not designed for it. Such is life. Those hibachi plates are truly excellent, anyway. Our table ordered three of them this time around and we were all very happy. Even the mixed drinks (also made by the same waiter since there isn’t a bartender!!!) and sakes are excellent. The house sake (warm) is simple but pairs well with anything on the menu, and the Snow Maiden (chilled) is ethereal and not overly expensive. Oh my, the latter is a treat. Honestly, nothing here is overpriced. That’s one of the best things about this restaurant…you can leave having eaten A LOT of food, take a bit home, be super satisfied with the quality, and not break the bank for it all. In the end I can’t think of a better experience for the price anywhere in our area. I always leave feeling like I want more because my taste buds are so excited and engaged, no matter how full my stomach feels.In the end, nobody can be free from criticism. This restaurant is not dingy. I lived in a big city for a large part of my life, and I’ve seen dingy. This is not it. But it would benefit from some detail cleaning and organization in places in the dining room and restrooms. Just a little extra TLC goes a long way in the eyes of your customers.Lastly, the dessert menu is genuinely not good. That is by choice. All that is needed is to add mochi to the menu and PRESTO!!…there’s a reason for diners to stay longer and add an extra course and more beverages to the tab. From a business standpoint that’s a no-brainer. Mochi is a trendy and authentic Japanese treat that would be perfect in this setting. See how that sells and then add something more if it works. Why not?!My family loves coming here and enjoying the relaxed and relatively quiet ambiance, but we also want to talk up our favorite spot to make sure it remains sustainable. Maybe they’ll be able to add a second server. Stop in and you won’t be sorry!!“

“It's Mall food, so you're expectations can't really be that high. But surprisingly, I like the Sushi here. I have tried tempura shrimp rolls in the past which were delicious for a great price and recently had some simple avocado roll. What can I say, the avocado was nice and fresh which is the most I can ask for. Fast service, friendly, relatively low prices and good food. Only complaint is that they should clean the seating area a little more often.“
