A Wonderful Find on Main Street.

During our recent stay in Chatham, my wife and I had the pleasure of dining at Beacon & Buoy, and what a wonderful evening it turned out to be. This lovely, well-appointed restaurant on Main Street has a warm, inviting feel, and from the moment we settled in, we had a good feeling about the place.

We started with the butternut squash soup and a petite wedge salad. Both were excellent. The soup was beautifully seasoned, and the addition of julienned apple, crisped tarragon and pepitas was a nice touch, adding a little crunch, texture, earthiness and sweetness. It's those small details that can take a dish from good to something special. The wedge salad was equally enjoyable, fresh, flavorful, and nicely presented.

For our main courses, we chose the farro risotto with wild mushrooms and pecorino and the mussels in white. Wow, did we enjoy these dishes. Everything was prepared just right, with wonderful flavors that complemented rather than overpowered one another. Oh, and the fresh picked apple crumble topped with vanilla gelato topped off what was already a great meal. Why no pics of the crumble? It was enjoyed before I could take a picture....( I love desserts)

A big bravo to the chef/owner. You can tell there's some real thought and passion going into what's coming out of that kitchen. And a special thank-you to our server, Kristen, the nurse, who added a personal touch to an already enjoyable evening.

Now, whether you've had the pleasure of dining at 50 Michelin-starred restaurants or simply appreciate a really good meal, don't pass up this new little gem on Main Street. Make a reservation for dinner, or stop by for breakfast or lunch. I have a feeling you'll be glad you did.

I've always felt that dining out should be more than just satisfying your appetite. It should be an experience, something you enjoy, appreciate, and maybe even talk about afterward. Beacon & Buoy gave us just that.

So, let B&B educate and enlighten your palate. There's some very good cooking going on here.

Will we be back? Without a doubt. Beacon & Buoy has earned a spot on our must-visit list whenever we're in Chatham.

“8/6/21 Had breakfast here today. Got seated right away about 9-9:15am Waiter took order, BYO Breakfast sandwich with short stack, and 2 Scrambled eggs with sausage and home fries, and a popover. Saw other people come in after us, order, and be served. 🤔 After about 45 minutes, got up to ask where breakfast was; “it should be out soon” 🤷🏼‍♀️We we’re seriously contemplating getting up and leaving !! (Again, a breakfast sandwich, and 2 scrambled eggs!🤔) And it still wasn’t too busy in there. Our waiter didn’t come bring the food to the table, 2 other people did, never asked if things were ok. When he came to bring the bill, again never spoke to us, but, was talking to the table behind is. 🙄🤷🏼‍♀️ It came HIGHLY recommended, but, we weren’t fans. Oh, and also on my “breakfast sandwich”, I got charged separately for the English Muffin!! 🤷🏼‍♀️ it’s listed in the description as coming on an English Muffin, so, again…. Why being charged extra?!!🤷🏼‍♀️🤔 The popover was totally burnt and cold , and sausages over cooked and burned. 2 people- $34, Thanks, but no thanks! Service wasn’t that great! And 45 minutes for a breakfast sandwich and 2 scrambled eggs?!!🤔 We aren’t tourists, we are local to Chatham, and was trying to keep it local, but, …….“

“A great place with great food and friendly service. The lobster bisque is the best I’ve ever had. The grilled lobster and cheese sandwich is to die for. I’ve had grilled swordfish here and always cooked to perfection. For the quality and quantity of food, the prices are really reasonable. I’ll be back!“

“We dined for lunch today. We had clam chowder quohaugs and salad. Everything was wonderful. The clam chowder so thick and full of clams. The quohaugs were amazing. The staff friendly efficient and so pleasant. We come every year and love our experience. Thank you again for a great lunch“

“We visited Sacred Cod Tavern at Chatham Bars Inn in Cape Cod for dinner. The atmosphere is cozy and charming, although the food took quite a long time to arrive even though the restaurant wasn’t very busy.

The warm bread is definitely a must-try! It comes fresh and soft in a cast-iron skillet, served with sweet, creamy butter. Such a simple dish, but one of the highlights of our meal.

We also tried the Chicken Cutlet Paillard, which was crispy and served with arugula and a tangy dressing that balanced the richness of the chicken nicely.

The swordfish was a little overcooked for my preference, but still enjoyable.

My favorite was the lobster pizza — absolutely delicious! The lobster paired especially well with the pesto sauce on top, which added a fresh, flavorful touch.

For a vegetarian option, the cauliflower is also worth considering.

Overall, Sacred Cod Tavern at Chatham Bars Inn is a beautiful spot to enjoy dinner while visiting Chatham, Cape Cod. The wait for the food could be improved, but the warm bread and lobster pizza were definitely the standouts for us.“
