The food was so tasty, comforting and just spicy enough. I also had the opportunity to meet Chester, the owner and Chef. In speaking with him, it is clear to note that he is committed to his community. While recognizing some of the problems, he comes forward offering solutions! “I have only done take-out, but you can also eat here. The jerk chicken is good, and I have also enjoyed the oxtail and curry goat. The fish dishes are also tasty. Not as many vegetable sides as I would prefer, but still enjoyable as a treat every now and then.“

Not only was the hostess so accommodating and friendly, but the portions were huge and delicious! “Top Tier Authentic Good Haitian food in my opinion.I love their rice individually grained and light and not greasy. The portions are generous everything comes in its separate container from the meat, the rice and sos pwa or legume. For now on Fridays you get free mac n cheese with your order .This is your mother your aunt your Grandma your wife cooking food for you fresh from the kitchen with love.“

“Went here for the first time last night on a friends recommendation. Never tried Venezuelan food before but WOW we were absolutely blown away by the beef arepas and the mojitos . So delicious! We came on a Saturday and were seated immediately, and the food came out fast. Definitely coming back!“

“i will definitely be visiting The D Coal Pot again very soon. The food is fresh taste great and really good. I was driving and came upon this restaurant i didn't plan on going to this restaurant but I said to self stop and get a few Patties and wouldn't you know they had no Patties. I left the restaurant with Corn Soup Peas & Rice Chicken Roti Beef Roti. I also got to try a dessert I've never had before I don’t know the name of it but had Guava Sweet Potato Coconut and other things to make this dessert which was really good so I ordered 2 to go. D Coal Pot is definitely a place you must visit and get a meal.“

Let me tell you! I was driving by and it caught my eye. So I decided to turn back around and check it out! I was lucky to meet the owner , Jabreel (I think that’s how you spell it). He was out of rice that day so we just got jerk chicken and jerk wings with sweet plaintains and mango salad. He told us to make sure we comeback and let me tell you, MY MAN AN I WILL BE BACK! The food was so good I couldn’t believe it! Highly recommend service and food was 10/10.“

“The meat and the rice were bone free, well seasoned, and delicious!!! A little dry, but I was doing a “too good to go” bag at the end of the day, so that’s okay.

Parking is tricky, because there is one entrance and one exit and they are not obvious, so be aware and careful when pulling in (especially if you’re crossing multiple lanes of traffic to do it), but there is free parking.

Also, lots of black ice right now in the lot, which is not the businesses fault, as I’m from of them it’s fine, but just be careful!!!“

“Came here for the oxtail, was not disappointed! I do wish it had more meat on it but it was so flavorful and well seasoned. Perfectly paired with rice and beans &pikliz & plantains. The food was so fresh and smelled delicious. The place was a little hard to find but just look at the numbers on the door. Parking wasn’t bad.“

There is a lot of places in the area that sell fritai or Haitian patties but not too many that sell all this plus rice plates, macaroni etc. You that real Haitian food your folks make. Food is amazing especially the rice and staff always has a smile. Food can take a but to come out but that's only because lots of Haitian food isn't "fast food" so I understand. If you want something quick get their fritai or dine out and order ahead and you probably won't wait long“

“This was my six-year-old’s choice for his birthday dinner! We used to frequent the South End location and since that one closed, we got delivery from Brookline. He wanted to write a review. His review is ‘they are the best cookers in the world.’ He also wants to give the meal seven stars. The food was great as usual! My go-to is the pabellon criollo, delicious and filling! Will have to come by and dine in soon.“

Today is June 14th 2025….. I went in for a large steak I didn’t realize it was close to closing. I asked if they had steak to which… yes , was the reply….

I got the plate and he said it wasn’t enough steak…. So the other choice was chicken… mind you they had oxtail ( I overheard on my way out) ….. they charged me for a large steak…. It want even a whole piece of steak just broken chunks and 3 pieces of chicken…. I been yall since Blue Hill Ave days….. I am beyond disappointed….. this is the second time yall skimped me. There will not be a 3rd!!!!“

“Cannot recommend the Right Taste highly enough. The jerk chicken, rice with beans, and if you are lucky plantains are outstanding. I always try to pay cash with a nice tip to support a local business and last time only had two twenties. Rather than break the second bill, the owner said don’t worry about it. This is my small way to pay it forward.“

Walked home after sharing a scoop of oreo and cookie dough (sort of sharing, the boy can be a bit stingy when the food is good...) and with a meal each: jerk chicken and stew beef. “Tiny, inexpensive ,no frills place with friendly young staff serving up classic Dominican tostados, toasted sandwiches. Takeout only, but they have plenty of outdoor seating. Sandwiches were delicious but a real surprise was the quality of the fruit smoothies! My mango and passion fruit smoothie was so rich and summery, not drenched in sugar at all.“
