“We ordered for the first time recently since under new ownership. I was definitely a longtime fan for years of Whistle Stop, when it was in business by the previous owner. We decided on take out for lunch on 12/01. I ordered an omelet with cheese, onions, mushrooms. My partner got a cheeseburger & fries. The person who took our order over the phone sounded friendly & told me it would be ready in about 15-20 mins (accurate estimate). When we pulled up, we noticed many vehicles parked, so it was a busy Friday. Upon entering, we saw several customers, both at tables & the counter, yet no employees. We stood at the counter awaiting service to pick up our order, when a staff appeared from in back, after a few mins of waiting. The young lady seemed polite & rang us up at the register. It cost under $20 for the order, which was reasonable. It wasn't until we got back home & opened our to go containers, that we noticed how they forgot about the french fries, which I asked for with my fiancés burger. I know it's a small mistake, but it still was one, so I called to bring it to their attention. They offered to make some, but unfortunately we didn't have the time to go back. She did apologize, so I was glad at least for that. We also noticed after a few bites that the burger was not medium well, but more medium rare (we had requested "medium well"). However, my omelet was very good & it came with rye toast (bread type is customer's choice) as well as home fries, which I gave to my fiancé seeing as they forgot his fries with the cheeseburger. Overall, our experience was decent & we will try again. Hopefully next time we'll get everything we ordered & our food will be cooked to our preference, if offered specifics (like with how the burger was cooked). Makes me miss the way it used to be, but hopefully we'll grow to really enjoy the Whistle Stop with new owners. Worth a try! First impression could have been a bit better though to be honest.Kid-friendliness: Mickey mouse pancakes.Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair ramp located at the entrance.“

“Cafe on the Common is always a pleasure. Clean place, friendly staff and owners, delicious food and drink- and all conveniently in Barre center. If you like music check out their open mic or live performances as noted online. Highly recommend.Vegetarian options: There are lots of options for vegetarians either specific veg options such or items that can be tweaked to be veg friendly.Parking: There are free lot spots available but I’ve never had to look past free street parking right out front.“

“I absolutely love this restaurant! I try to make sure I go at least once a week because I just can’t get enough of their homefries. My kiddos love the huge chocolate chip pancakes with whip cream! The staff is always so friendly and we never wait long! We were so happy to see them open back up on Sundays!“

“We had a beautiful wedding day here! The venue and recommended vendors were all great to work with. The existing backdrop was beautiful, and we were able to add touches to make it our own. The food was amazing and we will definitely return to the restaurant!“
“We had a great experience here and highly recommend it! We were in town for a wedding and loved our stay here. The Garden View room was so cool with its 11 windows wrapping 3 walls. The bed was super comfy and the window AC worked well, which is crucial for me. Joe was lovely and always available to help. We enjoyed sitting in the living room with some friends before bed. Joes cooked to order breakfast was delicious. I can tell Joe pays attention to detail and it shows. We would gladly stay here again.“
“I love the building & the very tasty beers. And the most interesting bathroom artwork or posters. A person could stay in there a week & not read everything. I love the history of the area all written on brochures which are all stuck on the walls. I may take my mug of beer & a bit of pizza & stay in there for a long while & just read.“

“Even though Janines Frostie is more than an hour away, the drive is always worthwhile.Excellent food and ice cream, amiable service, and regular live music make this a fantastic stop for foodies on a day trip or weekend getaway. Janines will provide a wonderful treat to cap off your day, whether it's after a bike ride, a Sunday drive, a stroll through Quabbin, or just a trip to have ice cream with the kids. The menu offers a good selection of seafood dishes in addition to the more unusual pot roast poutine, corn dogs, sassy sow dogs, and hamburgers and hot dogs.“

“Food was delicious! We ordered the corn chowder, house pizza, and a cheeseburger. All the pizza toppings were fresh and it was cooked nicely. I believe they make their own burger patties. It definitely wasn't a pre frozen flat patty. We will absolutely stop again the next time we are in the area.“
“Food and atmosphere are always great. Only downfall we got charged twice for a meal. We called a few times to get it resolved and it feels like we're being ignored so the issue isn't resolved but other than that, everything is great! Our friends recently moved to the area and we have been a few times now.“

“Food is very good. If your looking for a sit down place to eat with table cloths and wait staff taking your order. This place isn't what you are looking for. You order at a window then find a seat. The staff are nice . The food is very good with large portions. It does get loud in there but over all a good option for a family dinner.“

“The most delicious pastry and lunch place around! I haven't had breakfast but I'm sure it's also amazing. Authentic tasting pastries. Croissants taste like their from Paris. Absolutely the most delicious bakery I've been to since I lived in Germany over 30 years ago.“
