“We went to dinner and decided 7.00 Lobster Quesadilla for an appetizer, they were very good. We had.Baked Haddock Sauteed zucchini with roasted potatoes. It a classic, our favorite entree. We had New York Cheesecake drizzled with Caramel Sauce. Outstanding Mona was our server, she friendly, helpful and attentive. A charming woman, I hope have her an our server next time we go for dinner.“

“Been going here since the late 70’s. One of the best roast beef seafood restaurants on the north shore. I moved from Peabody to Florida in 2018 and wish we had a roast beef seafood place that was even half as good. I still visit Peabody once a year and this is always on my list of places to go. Food is still great. Yes it may not be the cheapest but you get what you pay for and I think they are fair, everywhere prices have increased, I would rather pay a little more and keep the quality. Love this place.“

“The service was very good and the food was overall enjoyable. The atmosphere in the back room could use some improvement, but it didn't take away too much from the experience. We especially loved the oyster appetizer special—everything else was great as well, with the exception of the duck special, which was much too sweet for our taste. “My girls and I attempted to eat at the Salem retreat on our first morning of our trip. We waited 20 minutes for a table after watching 7-10 people be seat AFTER we were given a buzzer to wait. We left and came to Dotty & Rays. We got a table as soon as we walked in, had water brought over immediately, drink and food orders promptly taken. The food was fantastic. We had one part of our order missing and once they realized the issue, it was remedied with speed and courtesy. Everyone was very friendly and renewed our experience in Salem. “Hit this place for lunch on a midweek April afternoon and found it almost empty. The waitstaff was fine, and the fish and chips were delicious and hot. (The local haddock is always tasty) My friend said her tuna melt was good but not great. Nice water view.“

“We were greeted as we arrived and seated immediately at a table that had open tables next to us. Seating was nicely spaced out. Frankie was our server and she was perfect. Not hovering, but there whenever you needed anything. I had the best tasting espresso martini I have ever had to start. My choices were a cup of chowder followed by grilled swordfish with butter lemon sauce and crispy capers. My sides were steamed broccoli and whipped potatoes. The chowder was very tasty and not too thick or too thin. There was a nice balance between clams and potatoes. The swordfish was perfect, wow! The portion was large enough for two people, and I took leftovers home for dinner the next day. The sides were good, the broccoli was still crisp and a good pairing with fish. Whipped potatoes were smooth and had the right texture and they were delightful. I enjoy mashed potatoes and my favorites had little lumps in them but the whipped potatoes were so tasty that I loved them. No dessert was necessary, but it was a lovely Christmas dinner. Thanks to Frankie, all needs were met and she was really kind.“

“This was the worst experience we have ever had at this restaurant. We had reserved a round table at the back of the restaurant, which they gave to some other party just before we got there. They sat us at a long table next to the table I had reserved. The noise level was awful, we couldn't hear each other talk, as the people at the round table were so loud. Also the waitress had an attitude and did not bring us drinks when we asked for them. She never checked with us about anything we needed. The food was great as usual. But because of the issues with our reservation, we will NEVER go here again. We have always used this location before as we go there many times a year, but never again.“

The menu has been changed since our last visit, and we found two delicious entrees - the special Steak au Poivre, which was perfectly plated and prepared, and the green curry spiced Roasted Salmon, which was imaginatively seasoned and perfectly cooked. The casual setting is conducive to easy conversation, and the sports screens are unobtrusive., but allow sports fans to keep track of the action. We'll return!“
