“My wife, Ann, and I had brunch there on Aug. 20, 2024.. The food, service and care were wonderful. If you are not vegan this place may cause you to think about taking the dive into becoming 100 % vegan.“

“Long post ahead, warning! I walked in around 9 pm and the hostess didn't bat an eye at my dining alone, and didn't say anything about it, which I appreciate. I was seated right away with no problems and immediately got a chance to look over the menu. I will admit, it took a little bit longer than expected for my waiter to come over, but as a lone diner I sort of expected that. I looked like I was waiting for someone, I'm sure. The look and feel of the place was very upscale, but they didn't have any problems with me walking in wearing a nerdy t-shirt. I was seated in this cute little booth for 2 with curtains on the side so, if I wanted a more private dinner, I could have it. It was a cute touch! The restaurant also offered patio dining and since it's by the creek, that would have been a downright charming experience were it not the usual Maryland summer. Despite having a bar, the restaurant was respectably quiet and low-key, making it an easy dining experience. I wasn't in the mood for something wild, and this place really hit the nail on the head. My first waiter Kevin, however, was the picture of polite helpfulness. He answered all of my questions, made some wonderful suggestions, and was incredibly pleasant to talk to. I was delighted to find out that this place takes part in DC restaurant week, so I was able to take part in that promotion. Under a suggestion from Kevin, I ordered a glass of their moscato (I wanted something light and sweet), and the wine was so good I brought home a whole bottle. Not really on them, but it does reflect their excellent selection. Dinner itself was delicious. The red pepper soup was refreshing and flavorful, without being too filling. The steak I ordered was cooked to perfection and was flavored in the perfect way to make the actual flavor of the meat shine. The potatoes were both light and fluffy, but also had the little chunks of potato that I prefer in my mashed. The best part was desert. About halfway through my appetizer, Kevin introduced my other waiter, Maddy, who took over after he went home. She was as much of a delight as he was, and made possibly the best recommendation of the night. Desert was this blackberry tart that I did not have room for but could not put down. Gooey and crumbly all at once, with a warm center that was almost caramel-y even though it was fruit based. Topped with a light cream to balance it all out, it was absolutely delicious. I will be thinking of that tart all day tomorrow. The prices on the menu were a little high, but I wouldn't go so far to say they were unreasonable. If I had wanted a cheaper option, I could have gone to any chain restaurant ever. In the grand scheme of downtown Frederick, with it's many small businesses and one of a kind dining experiences, I think this was reasonable. For reference, a lot of meals were between $20 and $30, but a good steak is almost always $30+. Despite the price, I had an exceptional dining experience, and would 100% recommend this place to anyone looking for upscale dining, without the upscale requirements.“

“We went to Motherland restaurant today for the first time. Sabina prepares food that tastes great. Both vegan and meat and fish dishes are available. Herbs and spices and healthy oils create a potpourri of wonderful flavors and create a satisfying meal without the use of salt. Vegans now have a new choice for flavorful meals.“

“Booking Sage Cakery to make our wedding cake was one of the highlights of the wedding. As someone that loves cakes, I was so looking forward to trying Sage on my wedding day and I was thoroughly impressed by the quality of their cakes. My husband generally doesn’t like cake as much, but even he loved the ones they made for us. The blackberry sage was a huge hit, and the decoration on the cake could not have been more stunning. It was exactly what we asked for and more. They worked with us too to add a topper my mom made for us and it looked perfect on top of the beautiful cake. We can’t wait to get another cake from them on our anniversary!“

“I came across the pub by accident on Google Maps and decided to stop and check it out. The atmosphere was good, with sports playing on television and people sitting and chatting. The space is a bit small, but the tables and booths were comfortable. The appetizer and drinks came out in short order, but we had to wait awhile for our entrees. (A couple next to us arrived before us and did not receive their main meals by the time we were getting ready to leave.)
That said, the food is absolutely delicious. I mean delicious. You can tell they use fresh incredients. The bread for the burger was soft and delicious. The brussels sprouts with bacon were beyond delicious. I had the jerk chicken tacos, and that chicken was perfectly seasoned and complemented with a savory chimichurri sauce.
My wife tried the IPA and gave me a taste. It was refreshing and delicious. Our kid had the mac and cheese, and I need to get the recipe! The cheese was perfectly melted, not the grimy cheese you get from pre-shredded stuff in a bag. Someone must have shredded the cheese in the back. It was that good and velvety smooth.
The portion sizes were just right. We will definitely be stopping by again because the food was great, the atmosphere was chill, and the service was very good. (Not 5-star great because of the time it took for the food to arrive, but we get it… Busy time.)“

“What a wonderful place- totally unplanned and they accommodated three adults, two under 10, and a 100lb Newfoundland dog. Dog got treats and water- kids were offered paper, colored pencils, and crayons. Food was an amazing, staff- incredible. What an unexpected great experience.“

“Outstanding! I am up here for work from Florida, and as many times as I have been to Frederick, I can't believe I have not eaten here sooner. The atmosphere is wonderful! There is nothing better than the smell of smoked BBQ filling the air. Ample parking, and I love the location. The food is fantastic! I had the potato salad, sweet potatoes, and 2 meats (Arkansas Brisket which are burnt tips and Hot Links). The platter comes with pickled onions, pickles, and cornbread. It did not disappoint. Plus the original BBQ which comes with it, had an interesting flavor. Sweet and vinegary, with a little heat, which was nice. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for some good BBQ.“

“This place has the BEST Pho, food! I have been telling all my friends and family about this place. Though, I do want to share an odd experience we had 2 nights ago. We were a party of 3, all ordered Pho soup and summer rolls. We got our food but had to ask several times for the sprouts and peppers that come with it. After the 3rd request, the waitress said, well we don't always give that because we are running low. WHAT? First, who orders Pho and doesn't expect to get the sprouts? Second, if they were running low, isn't that something she should have disclosed when we ordered? I understand there may be a few people who don't use the condiments, but in that case, ask?! When we said the 4th time we wanted the sprouts etc, she definitely had an attitude. We had to ask multiple times for water, honey for our tea. The service sometimes leaves a little to be desired, and the wait times are not often accurate, but the food is excellent!“

“My wife and I visited this restaurant for Valentine’s Day. There’s meter parking on the street and garage parking available. Our table was ready when we arrived. For appetizers, we ordered chicken empanadas and Tostones rellenos. As for our entrees, we had Pernil with white rice, black beans, and tostones, and Masitas de Puerco with the same sides. For dessert, we indulged in Flan de coco and Tres leche cake. The food was absolutely delicious. The chicken and pork were perfectly seasoned and tender. We recently hosted an informal reunion gathering for about 30 people for The Frederick Children's Chorus and they were very thoughtful, accomodating, and communicative in our planning process. We had plenty of space reserved inside. The doors were open since it was beautiful weather and we also enjoyed the outdoor seating and flexibility of being able to get our own drinks while catching up. My favorite menu items have been the lentil sliders and the flatbread pizzas. I’ve also been there to get work done on quiet weekdays for meetings, and have enjoyed other events they host like Historians on Tap and karaoke nights. Overall great place and lovely owners! They often partner with local nonprofits and charities each month and is great to see ongoing community support in this way. It will remain in my rotation of Frederick spots for sure!“
