“Great place to grab a quick and unique breakfast! We stayed at the Hotel Indigo about 10 minutes walking from this cafe. It was convenient, but also made us feel like we were experiencing Baltimore. We had fantastic sliders, an ube croissant, and coffee. The space is cozy and the service was amazing!!“

“I enjoyed talking with the staff and them giving me all the options of coffee . Super
Nice and a relief from hostile coffee environments who act like there aren’t any other choices (myriads). I decided to try an ice coffee 12 oz of FINCA MONTES URALES . Love the notes of vanilla and nutmeg . I went with a whole milk and house vanilla . PHENOMENAL! Wishing you all much forward success in all endeavors of life. Thank you for your kindness the 40 minute drive was worth it💕‼️“

“When we lived in Maryland I bought all of our coffee from High Grounds. I have now moved to Georgia and wouldn't consider changing my coffee source. The main reason that one would go to a coffee roaster for the 2nd, 3rd or 99th time would be for the quality of the coffee, and any one who would rate High Grounds less than 5 star“

“Matriarch Coffee lived up to every bit of the hype — and then some.

I’d been hearing about Matriarch Coffee for a while from friends near me in the DMV, and I finally made the drive up to Baltimore to see what all the hype was about.
Short answer: absolutely worth it!Long answer: I’m already thinking about my next excuse to come back.
Walking in, the space immediately delivers. The aesthetic is awesome— the kind of intentional, beautifully designed interior that feels warm and curated rather than staged. It’s trendy without being cold, and the Inner Harbor location makes it that much more special. I know there is a huge renovation planned “down the harbor” , this Matriarch is ALREADY READY! You get all the energy of the waterfront with a cozy, tucked-in feel once you’re inside.
Now, the coffee. I got a latte that was genuinely one of the better cups I’ve had in a long time — smooth, rich, perfectly pulled. I also had a Chai and paired it with a cherry & cheese danish that was fresh and delicious, the ideal complement to the drink. I asked for it heated and it was hot all the way through. Hate it when I get it and it is cold in the middle…the barista understood the assignment and got us right! Everything felt thoughtful, like someone in that kitchen actually cares about what they’re putting out — because they do.
Speaking of which — I had the pleasure of meeting the owner, and it all made sense. Warm, passionate, and clearly proud of what they’ve built. Shirts, cups, napkins, and merch that says “I love my Matriarch” is a reminder of the “Why” behind this spot I think. That kind of energy flows through the entire space and staff. You feel it the moment you walk in.
The Matriarch isn’t just a coffee shop. It’s a destination. If you’re in Baltimore, this is a must. If you’re outside the city — make the drive. Trust me.
See you soon, Matriarch!“

“Large, clean, comfortable cafe. Lots of seating. A cool playlist was on, and it was the perfect volume (you could easily tune it out if you were talking or studying). Their coffee is smooth and delicious and the service was very friendly. The egg and cheese biscuit was a little boring taste-wise, but I saw other people's dishes that looked really good. Can't wait to try something else next time.

Also, they have really cool looking merch“
