When I opened the delivery container and saw the oxtail wasn’t on top of the rice & cabbage, I immediately had questions. But after a few bites !! Whew. Everything was seasoned perfectly !! As fans of Persian cuisine and frequent shoppers at Yekta Market in Rockville— having recently tried our hand at making Persian dishes like Fesenjan at home— coupled with all of the culinary accolades— we had high expectations for JOON. It not only met but exceeded them. Mast-o Musir, yogurt dish with Persian dried shallot and rose petal, was exceptional— more elevated and nuanced than any we’ve had. The mushroom Khoresht stew with white truffle was another highlight, offering perfectly balanced flavors something hard to do with white truffles and a satisfying richness, complemented by the perfectly crunchy Tahdig, iconic golden rice crust. The braised lamb shoulder which Yacine suggested was the undeniable highlight of the meal I which each dish was excellent. Tender and flavorful, it was paired beautifully with texture. It’s a signature dish that rivals the best we’ve ever had, bringing to mind the legendary Bo Ssam pork shoulder from David Chang’s Momofuku— bold, unforgettable, and expertly prepared. The Gormeh Sabzi, short rib stew with its delicious sour depth, was excellent but couldn’t quite match the lamb’s showstopping brilliance. Two very minor points. While the food and service are exceptional, the main dining room lighting would benefit from dimming. A water filtration water system could make a big difference as well. JOON has firmly secured its place as a must-visit dining destination for us. We can’t wait to return and explore more of the menu.“

“I had a delicious lunch at Eerkin's in Rockville today. My friend and I shared an eggplant salad, an order of manta dumplings stuffed with pumpkin, and an order of fried noodles with chicken. Everything was delicious. The portions were very generous. We enjoyed making our choice from the tea bar--one serving with a complimentary refill was plenty for two people. Service was friendly and attentive. Parking is convenient and free for the first two hours. Looking forward to a return trip!“

“Discovered Maman Joon by accident as most places were closed at 3:00pm. Their food was exceptional. We had the Kashk E’ Bademian (sautéed eggplant), Salad E’ Shirazi (cucumber salad), Beef Koobideh (ground beef kebab) and Baklava. It was flavorful and spiced without being too overpowering. Prices were very reasonable, too. Couldn’t believe they got all five star ratings until we tried it. No seating though so best for take away.“

“This little hidden hotpot spot off Columbia Pike? Whew… somebody better protect this place before TikTok discovers it and the line wraps around the block.

I came in on a random Thursday night looking for “just a little broth,” and left spiritually healed, emotionally supported, and feeling that heat through my body in the best way possible.

John, the owner, deserves his flowers immediately. Man recommended the Szechuan base like a seasoned hotpot therapist, and as a certified hot-pepper survivor, I can confidently say my taste buds were doing backflips. The spice level didn’t just knock on the door — it moved in, paid rent, and redecorated the place okay!

And honestly? I love the vibe here. It’s not trying too hard to be some ultra-modern, neon-sign “aesthetic” restaurant where the chairs hurt your back and the menu needs subtitles. It’s simple, cozy, and feels real. The kind of spot where ordinary people can sit down, exhale, cook good food, and temporarily forget their problems in a bubbling pot of happiness.

“Excellent, efficient and clean establishment. Food was ready when I walked in to pick it up at 10-15 min after I placed the order. The Tejas BBQ brisket taste was fantastic. The SriPraPhai drunken noodles with tofu was so-so. Its taste profile was more like Pad Thai than drunken noodles I have had from prior restaurants, so would not get this again. The taste wasn't bad, but not what I expected. Overall, I would still return and try this food concept chain again (similar to a food court in a mall with many restaurant options but with a small pick up window and assembly room in the back).“

Local, friendly staff that are attentive to their customers; it was our first time there and they answered our questions We even got two free samosas’s (chicken and veggie) while we waited for our food that were so flavorful and tasty! We got the butter chicken combo platter and chicken & lamb over rice; they were amazing ! Presentation was great and they were so flavourful! We also got a mango lassi that was sooo good; wonderfully creamy, fruity, and refreshing. Highly recommend giving a try and can’t wait to go back!“

“Great potential for the falafel platter, with some missteps that keep it from being five stars.First, the good:- sauces were excellent (toum, shut)- dips were great (hummus, labneh, and a chickpea stew)- bread (shrak) was great- fries were great (served with cilantro)- onion/parsley garnish was very good but needed to be more of it- falafel was good- salata was pretty goodHere’s what can be improved:- the Persian style grilled tomato and grilled onion make no sense as a side for a falafel platter… it should either be served with tabbouleh or chopped raw tomatoes and onion, either of which add freshness and cut through the heavy sauces- speaking of tabbouleh, it was supposed to come with some but didn’t- the fries, falafel and chickpea stew were a little too salty- personal preference: I don’t like pickled beets in general very much, I didn’t like these pickled beets in particular very much, and I strongly feel that pickled cucumbers are superior on a falafelThe good parts about the platter were great. But, the actual falafel wrap was a little off, because it lacked fresh veggies. The sauce, the bread will keep me coming back, but I hope the owners take note of this feedback

“Update: since this experience I haven't had one nearly as bad as this the pizza is good and the cheesecake is delicious glad I tried it again after the bad first impression. ?
I know it's the Superbowl but I really can't accept this experience. Driver was amazing even went back to the restaurant to get an extra pizza. Reason why because our order took over 2 hours to get here and unfortunately they didn't even bring us 1 of the pizza we actually ordered. We got 2 random meat covered pizzas and all we ordered was extra cheese & chicken. The extra pizza was nice but I'm still not happy with getting 2 pizzas I can't eat. Wings are good but this was a terrible experience. Glad I ordered them since it was the only think I could eat from a $50 order. I think what we originally ordered would've been good and I could've eaten this one if not for the other meats. Ordered through slice.“
