“There's a reason Rose Ave usually has a line out the door. This is one of the best bakeries in DC, with a somewhat limited selection compared to other bakeries. They have one of the best breakfast sandwiches in the city, egg and cheese on a garlic croissant type roll. Super rich and will definitely leave your hands covered in butter. The ube kouign amann is incredible and the donuts are both delicious and unique. They have great coffee and a small selection of cakes and slices of cake as well.“

“I will always seek out a Levain! Their gluten free, vegan chocolate chip with walnuts is incredible. The chocolate melts in your mouth, no matter how long these cookies have been at room temp. It’s small inside the store so just don’t plan on having room to sift down inside.“

“It was my first time going to this place , the staff can try to be more welcoming and pleaseant and help they clients to order , I had to take my mask off to speak and let them know what i wanted and as i was ordering I felt like i was being rushed to order , the food was tasting but tge owner needs to change the way the food is charged , I was charge for each separate item this is not a place where you order yourself a complete meal for a full charge , the food was delicious but I would not go back and another turn off in the bakery area they had flies around the sweet bread .“

Everyone loved the vanilla sheet cake. (See picture.) It was beautiful and delicious. Then, when I went to pickup the vanilla sheet cake, on a whim, I decided to also purchase a smaller, off the shelf, lemon cake with a balloon design. People who tried both cakes at the birthday events said both were amazing, but they loved the taste of the lemon cake more than the vanilla. I wish we weren't limited to rating this bakery 5 stars! I found them online and placed a last-minute cake order for something a bit complicated, something other bakers had said they couldn’t do (or would need more time to pull off). I was very lucky they had a little extra time in their schedule before the weekend and agreed to take the order.
Since I had never used them before and it wasn’t a referral, I was a little nervous (I even almost bought backup cupcakes from Wegmans — I’m so glad I didn’t!). But when the cake arrived, I was so impressed. They did an even better job than I’d hoped — they really nailed Mimikyu! And the cake tasted great, too.
