“This restaurant has become a family favorite! My husband and I regularly come for date nights, but we also love to bring the whole family. The rockfish dish is my regular order, but the veal scallopini, mussels, and the chicken piccata are other family favorites. They are all delicious and we have yet to order a dish here that isn’t perfect. We have also hired them for catering and they did an excellent job. Highly highly recommend going, you will not be disappointed.”

“I have nothing but good things to say about Gourmet Asian Bistro (7224 Muncaster Mill Rd, Derwood, MD 20855). It offers Chinese, Thai, and sushi. I've eaten there 3 times in the past 2 weeks, and it's been excellent every time and affordable! The vegetable tofu soup ($2.95) is huge, satisfying, and full of veggies. The wonton soup ($2.95) has 3 good sized wontons. Both soups come with a bowl of tastier-than-average fried wonton strips on the side that I end up munching on during the entire meal. The sizzling black pepper beef ($16.95?) was tasty, but I was more impressed by the noodle dishes. The beef chow fun ($14.95?) and the Singapore mei fun ($13.95) were beautifully seasoned and cooked perfectly. I've also gotten the salmon nigiri ($5.95?) a couple times, and it's generously portioned and fresh with great quality salmon. Every meal ends with a complimentary tiny scoop of vanilla ice cream and fortune cookie. There are plenty of good Chinese restaurants in MoCo, but Gourmet Asian Bistro is my current favorite for best flavor and value.”

“I love this place! They have a bunch of local and craft beers on tap and one of the best selections of beers for retail in the area. If there is a beer you are looking for but can’t find, as long as the county sticks it, Ashish (the fabulous, friendly owner) will order it. The store is very clean and bright, I never have trouble finding parking, and the prices are on par with other stores. In the wine side of things, there is a good variety and prices seem a little lower than other area stores.”

“I had went to the dollar store to get some cleaning supplies and got hungry so I came in to get food, I haven’t ate subways in like 5 years plus Mrs. Zulma and Mrs. Linsee helped me made the whole process easy for me again very helpfully and gave me good scoops as well Food was delicious too. “Overall, we had a great experience. I try not to read reviews before visiting a restaurant because I prefer to judge it for myself. We chose this Outback because we wanted a sit-down dinner without driving to Rockville or downtown Silver Spring.

I hadn't visited this location in over 10 years after a bad experience with a broken Alfredo sauce that the staff couldn't resolve, but I figured it was time to give them another chance.

We started with the warm bread and butter, then ordered appetizers. There was a mix-up because the menu at our table differed from the one in the lobby, but our server, Michael, quickly corrected our order without any issues. The appetizers were fresh and flavorful. The only minor criticism was that the chips with the spinach dip were just a little overdone.

For dinner we ordered the Kingsland Steak & Shrimp Pasta, Queensland Chicken & Shrimp Pasta, and the Filet with Alice Springs Chicken and a grilled shrimp skewer. The Caesar salads (with ranch instead of Caesar dressing and no croutons for my son) were fresh and prepared exactly as requested. I accidentally ordered the wrong pasta, but Michael immediately fixed it. He kept our drinks full, timed everything well, and all of our food came out hot and fresh.

The only issue was with seating. Another party that arrived after us was seated first and received their food well before we did. I spoke with the hostess, Cindy, who explained that she calls multiple parties at once. While she acknowledged my concern, I believe seating guests in arrival order creates a better first impression. As someone who has worked in the restaurant industry, I know a guest's experience begins the moment they walk through the door, and those first impressions can affect the entire meal.

One other observation was that service overall seemed a bit slower than expected despite plenty of open tables. It may have been staffing or workflow, but it's something worth improving.

That said, Michael provided excellent service, the food was fresh and delicious, and this visit definitely restored my confidence in this location. I'd happily return.”

“This is a great cocktail bar that also happens to have pretty good food! The only thing holding this review from being 5 stars is that the owner needs to assign more staff to the Saturday evening shift. There was 25-30 customers between 6:30 and 8pm on a Saturday, but only TWO employees working outside the kitchen. No host, no busser, no server. Just ONE waiter and ONE bartender during prime time dinner hours. The bartender was serving food instead of bartending and the waiter was frantically trying to take orders from 10+ tables. No one was bussing (dirty tables were left unattended until new customers arrived) and you had to find the waiter or bartender in order to get a seat. I hope the owner or manager sees this because I felt so bad for the two staff trying to run the front house of this restaurant on a Saturday night. They were doing their best and deserve more help so they can provide better service to customers.”
