“This restaurant has become a family favorite! My husband and I regularly come for date nights, but we also love to bring the whole family. The rockfish dish is my regular order, but the veal scallopini, mussels, and the chicken piccata are other family favorites. They are all delicious and we have yet to order a dish here that isn’t perfect. We have also hired them for catering and they did an excellent job. My husband and I have keep it in regular rotation alongside China Bistro (Mama's Dumplings), and Sichuan Jin River. Becky and Wendy are incredibly hospitable, and the food is consistently spot-on. We especially come for their authentic Szechuan and Cantonese dishes — always flavorful, always satisfying. A must-try! Generous portions deliver excellent value at a fair price.“

“I have nothing but good things to say about Gourmet Asian Bistro (7224 Muncaster Mill Rd, Derwood, MD 20855). It offers Chinese, Thai, and sushi. I've eaten there 3 times in the past 2 weeks, and it's been excellent every time and affordable! The vegetable tofu soup ($2.95) is huge, satisfying, and full of veggies. The wonton soup ($2.95) has 3 good sized wontons. Both soups come with a bowl of tastier-than-average fried wonton strips on the side that I end up munching on during the entire meal. The sizzling black pepper beef ($16.95?) was tasty, but I was more impressed by the noodle dishes. The beef chow fun ($14.95?) and the Singapore mei fun ($13.95) were beautifully seasoned and cooked perfectly. I've also gotten the salmon nigiri ($5.95?) a couple times, and it's generously portioned and fresh with great quality salmon. Every meal ends with a complimentary tiny scoop of vanilla ice cream and fortune cookie. There are plenty of good Chinese restaurants in MoCo, but Gourmet Asian Bistro is my current favorite for best flavor and value.“

“My work splurged on us a lunch for us consisting of the Rasa Tantori Tasting Bundle. This meal is advertised as feeding 10 people, I think they are underselling just how much food you get. Were 10 extremely hungry people and then we were 10 very satisfied and perhaps overly full people a few minutes later, with food to spare! Nothing was particularly spicy, there was a little heat on one of the dishes, but nothing crazy. The variety of food is well balanced. Chicken, tofu, saffron rice, Greens, salads, chickpeas and curry with 2 chutneys, even dessert cookies! I recommend this meal if you are looking for an easy way to order a variety of food in one go that can feed 10 hungry, or 14 less hungry people. Especially if any of them are cautious about trying Indian. It was delicious well made. Not to mention conveniently delivered.“

“Medium Rare features steak frites (or mushrooms with frites) and some desserts- that's it.

The price is appropriate- you get nice, crusty bread, salad, and 2 helpings of steak frites.

The food quality is good. However, one must be partial to mustard because the salad dressing is extremely mustard forward, and so is the gravy on the steak frites.

It's a cute concept and the ambiance reflects this. Some cheeky art alongside the children's drawings up on the walls. The restrooms refer to Pepe and Penelope from Loony Tunes and in the ladies room one can listen (and perhaps learn) some flirty French phrases.

The service was a mixed bag. Our main server wasn't very engaged with our table. Despite the fact that we had gift bags on the table (perhaps a clue that we were celebrating a birthday) she didn't ask whether we were celebrating. I had also marked the Open Table reservation that we were celebrating a birthday, but that wasn't acknowledged at all. Other tables were celebrated while we were dining, so I guess those patrons directly asked for the celebratory gesture of a sparkler in their sundae/cake.

Our server also wasn't too interested in keeping our beverages full, or in bringing extra hot fudge when we asked for it with our sundae.

However, our steak did arrive at the right temperature for each of us, and they brought the steak frites refills at the EXACT perfect timing (and the refills were hot and perfect).

Medium Rare is a fun restaurant with good food at a good price- we'll return.“

“I spend over $250 a month here. Most of the staff know me because I come in so often. The service is typically very good. Carlos, the manager is very friendly and always gives great service. Along with some of the older staff. But some of the younger staff need further training on proper customer service. Twice now, I’ve gone there, with the same individuals, and asked for a bag for my food. Instead of assisting me, they put the food on the counter and point me to the bags, saying, “they are over there!” I find that very distasteful and in poor taste for a frontline person serving the public. Part of the customer experience is assisting the customer. I worked retail for many years and always made sure my customers were satisfied. That kind of service is unacceptable!“

“I went here today with my parents and older brother, the place is very clean and welcoming. We didn't have to wait at all to be seated since the place was empty. I ordered the pho with steak and brisket, along with the Booboo's milk tea. The pho didn't have an overwhelming taste, it's taste was very delicious and not that strong. For the milk tea, the tea wasn't that sweet nor that bitter, it was more in the middle. The tapioca pearls weren't that chewy or soft, it was okay at best. Overall, I definitely will be going here again. It's a hidden gem in the Gaithersburg area and definitely should have more people know about it!“

“Born and raised in Chevy Chase. I had never been to Persimmon until last night. WOW!!!! Probably the most consistent delicious food, exceptional service, I have EVER experienced. The service besides being attentive was so gracious, loyal sky and accommodating. Not one iota of attitude ever. Each person was so helpful so genuinely gracious. There were 7 of us. The flow was smooth, timed perfectly. Each person knew exactly what we needed before we even thought about asking. And the food... SPECTACULAR!! Persimmon is my new favorite restaurant. Houston's,(Woodmont Grill.) was my absolute go to because of the consistency and the service and the food.
