“China Jade is one of our absolute favorites!
My husband and I have keep it in regular rotation alongside China Bistro (Mama's Dumplings), and Sichuan Jin River. Becky and Wendy are incredibly hospitable, and the food is consistently spot-on. We especially come for their authentic Szechuan and Cantonese dishes — always flavorful, always satisfying. A must-try! Generous portions deliver excellent value at a fair price.“

“I have nothing but good things to say about Gourmet Asian Bistro (7224 Muncaster Mill Rd, Derwood, MD 20855). It offers Chinese, Thai, and sushi. I've eaten there 3 times in the past 2 weeks, and it's been excellent every time and affordable! The vegetable tofu soup ($2.95) is huge, satisfying, and full of veggies. The wonton soup ($2.95) has 3 good sized wontons. Both soups come with a bowl of tastier-than-average fried wonton strips on the side that I end up munching on during the entire meal. The sizzling black pepper beef ($16.95?) was tasty, but I was more impressed by the noodle dishes. The beef chow fun ($14.95?) and the Singapore mei fun ($13.95) were beautifully seasoned and cooked perfectly. I've also gotten the salmon nigiri ($5.95?) a couple times, and it's generously portioned and fresh with great quality salmon. Every meal ends with a complimentary tiny scoop of vanilla ice cream and fortune cookie. There are plenty of good Chinese restaurants in MoCo, but Gourmet Asian Bistro is my current favorite for best flavor and value.“

“We had a great experience at Pickle Vegetable Fish. The signature pickled vegetable fish was excellent. The broth had a rich, tangy flavor with just the right amount of spice, and the fish was fresh, tender, and cooked perfectly. We also tried the peppercorn beef, which was equally flavorful and comforting.“
“I recently visited Nanxiang Soup Dumpling and had a wonderful experience. The soup dumplings were delicious and full of flavor. I also want to give a special mention to, Zhi, who provided excellent service and gave me good suggestions when I order the food. He was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for great dumplings!“

“Lived in Bethesda for 50 years, now in Bend, OR--where good Chinese food is non-existent. On numerous visits back home, I've patronized Foong Lin with high school buddies--and it always delivers the goods. Last night, we all had hot and sour soup, egg rolls, crispy beef, combination Kung Pao, combination lo mein...and everything was off the charts!“

“I was pleasantly surprised with the quality and authenticity of some of the classic dimsum dishes such as the shrimp dumpling and charngfun. We ordered about 25 small plates between 3 people (including desert) and we were stuffed! Some items tasted a bit too experimental and did not satisfy the classic Cantonese flavor profile that I’m used to. Some were really good! I grew up eating authentic Cantonese dim sum in Los Angeles and have tried amazing eating dim sum in Hong Kong and Guangzhou. In the DMV area, we have limited dim sum options - so this place will do when I crave dim sum! The service and atmosphere were really nice. Total rating is 4.5 stars.“

“Delicious Chinese food specializing in Sichuan cuisine that has plenty of great dishes with a good level of spice.
If you're brave enough to try bitter melon, they've got that here, but otherwise, would recommend their twice-cooked pork and their Zhong dumplings!
Service was phenomenal and the restaurant has plenty of seating!“

“I had an incredible experience dining at Gong Fu 12 yesterday, and I have to say it has quickly become my favorite restaurant in the DMV area. They create a wonderful blend of flavors from both Northern and Southern Chinese cuisines, resulting in a diverse menu full of exciting dishes. The quality of the food is exceptional, and I was pleasantly surprised by the reasonable prices for such delicious meals. It's a place where you can truly indulge in a culinary adventure! You will appreciate me for introducing you to this excellent restaurant.“

“Stopped in for a late lunch, it's nondescript from the outside, but inside it's clean, tidy, and comfortable. We had noodle soups and scallion pancakes. Both soups had really nice broth, lots of sides to add, and a couple of sauces as well. They were busy even in the middle of the afternoon. We'll go back.“

“I ordered from here for the first time and the service was great! They made our food in a fair amount of time and the food tasted good. Their half and half iced tea lemonade was amazing. I ordered two of those after trying out a cup from one container.“

“The food is excellent for the price, especially if you’re looking for authentic, no-frills Chinese cuisine. Service is acceptable but can be slow, and there’s often a line—though it’s generally worth the wait. Expect the straightforward Cantonese candor if you speak Chinese, but they are welcoming and accommodating to non-Chinese customers as well. The dining area is convenient and comfortable, with a cozy, Chinese cafeteria-style atmosphere (not a formal restaurant), which adds to the overall charm.
If you want, I can also make it sound more casual, more punchy, or more like a typical Yelp “Local Guide” review.“

“Their spring rolls are so crunchy and flaky you can taste the freshness and pairs nicely with the shrimp and broccoli. Their food has that signature carry out taste you crave and not everyone gets right. The food is always hot and you can taste the good quality. This is also the only place I’ve seen that has the cutest mini shop inside where you can get adorable collectibles.“

His attentiveness and his kind invitation for our group to use the karaoke room, elevated our visit to a memorable occasion. The food was exceptional, and I believe the pricing is reasonable given the quality. I will certainly be returning and recommending this establishment to others. “Nestled in a cozy corner, this small yet popular Chinese restaurant offers an authentic Shanghainese dining experience. Our warm and friendly host, Winnie, greeted us with a smile. She proudly informed us that all dishes are crafted by Shanghainese staff, including herself, ensuring the utmost authenticity.
Our culinary journey began with the delectable Soup Dumplings. These homemade dumplings were generously filled, each bite bursting with flavor. We savored eight dumplings per order, leaving us craving more.
Next, we indulged in the Sautéed Fish Fillet in Wine Sauce. While the fish was cooked to perfection, the wine sauce was a bit lacking. Winnie kindly acknowledged this and offered us extra sauce, accommodating our preferences.
To conclude our meal, we couldn’t resist the irresistible Biscuit Stuffed with Pine Nuts and Red Bean Paste. This must-order dessert was a delightful surprise—not too sweet and bursting with the delightful flavors of pine nuts and red bean paste.
Overall, our dining experience at this charming Chinese restaurant was truly memorable. Winnie’s warm hospitality, the authentic Shanghainese cuisine, and the delectable desserts made it a delightful culinary adventure.“

“This is a takeout place. I ordered delivery, which was expensive. With delivery fee, convenience fee, tax, and tip, the cost was more than double for the food.
I was pleasantly surprised by the food. I ordered two lunches. You get a choice of appetizers. The wonton soup is much tastier than at most restaurants. The egg roll was pretty good.
I ordered shrimp with vegetables, which comes in a white sauce. The shrimp was cooked perfectly, and the vegetables were crisp. For under $3 extra, you can get plain lo mein instead of rice. It was tasty.
I also ordered Szechuan pork. It's supposed to be spicy. I found it mildly spicy. It comes with broccoli, carrots, and onions. They give you plenty of pork, and the sauce has a nice flavor.
I will get their food again, but not with delivery.“

“Pleasantly surprised of the quality of food here. Can't comment on the fusion Chinese food, but the two dishes I order - Chongqing Chicken and Basil Eggplant - were authentic, well-seasoned, and not oily. They used enough dried chili pepper such that the spice penetrates into the fried chicken. They got all components of the dish right also including peanuts, the numbness from peppercorn, and even the aromatics garlic and ginger slices. The eggplant dish was superb as well. The sauce has a consistency sufficient to coat the eggplant, and the larger eggplant pieces in the dish still had structure to them, not completely mushy. Will be back for sure. I wish there were two menus though, one for authentic Chinese food and one for American Chinese.“

“Peter Changs is our favorite Chinese take out. We ordered the “GuoBao” sweet sour flounder. It’s usually very good. This time there was barely any sauce. Maybe it was an off night. We also ordered the spicy dry fried bamboo fish. The cumin gives it a slight curry flavor but it’s very good! We love it. The egg scallion fried rice is a good pairing.“

“The last time I went to Paul Key was almost 20 years ago. I was a regular with my parents and whole family. We used to go almost once a week. We were definitely a regular. It was good back then, but the food started to go downhill so I never returned. Hearing that it was under new management, I decided to try it today and I was very pleased with the food. The mixed seafood and broccoli dish (which I started eating before I took a picture) was delicious. Not too greasy or salty and with plenty of wok hai. I also ordered a bowl of Hong Kong Style Wonton Noodle Soup and a bowl of Hong Kong Style Wonton Har Fun Soup. Both was delicious and the wontons were full of shrimp. One thing about the wontons was the fact that it was all grounded up shrimp with pork where other places it is bigger chunks of shrimp with pork. It still tasted good. The service was very good and I was impressed with how attentive they were. I will definitely be back since I know the food is good again. Next time, I'll try the roast duck and pork. The place looks great! Look forward to coming back soon!“

“Our go to affordable Chinese takeout. They don’t skimp on the food and always fill it to the brim. We always order their pork fried rice, chefs delight, and fried dumplings.
This time we ordered their crispy beef and salt & pepper fish.
Crispy beef - It is thinly sliced and the beef is dry. However, we like to order it because of the crunchy texture and the sweet and spicy flavor.
Salt & pepper fish- Well fried and not oily. It has a very good mild jalapeño flavor.

“This place has the most authentic Shanghai food in DMV. Well if you argue it should be from your mom's kitchen then you win. I am just comparing this with Shanghai Taste and Bob66. (Shanghai lounge and Nanxiang has nothing to do with Shanghai food from my humble opinion.)
Back to the business. If you are fine with any dishes being sweet then I suggest give everything a try. Something you may find weird, but it is just how things are done in Shanghai. If you want something salty you can get Fuzhu 腐竹 or Moyu魔芋, both are nice cold dishes. But I still suggest Kaofu 烤麸, Lajiang 辣酱 and Ribs小排 even you don't have sweet teeth. Meatball 狮子头 are nice to try as well, and Shenjian生煎 is a must try - I served Shenjian to my parents who still live in Shanghai when they came and they gave a positive feedback.“

“Been going here for many years. Always big portions. I love the wing, I love hormone induced wings. They are huge. 6pieces is the same as 12 pieces at a wing place. Got Pan fried shrimp noodles. No broccoli is not supposed to be fully cooked. (To one of the reviewers) lots of shrimp. Pretty tasty. Had to get American style general tso chicken. Also good. I have been to places that are mostly breading and little meat. This place is opposite. No more free tea. Condiments use to be out so you could get whatever you need. No more . No frills. Highly recommended . We got a lot of food“
