My husband and I have keep it in regular rotation alongside China Bistro (Mama's Dumplings), and Sichuan Jin River. Becky and Wendy are incredibly hospitable, and the food is consistently spot-on. We especially come for their authentic Szechuan and Cantonese dishes — always flavorful, always satisfying. A must-try! Generous portions deliver excellent value at a fair price.“

“I have nothing but good things to say about Gourmet Asian Bistro (7224 Muncaster Mill Rd, Derwood, MD 20855). It offers Chinese, Thai, and sushi. I've eaten there 3 times in the past 2 weeks, and it's been excellent every time and affordable! The vegetable tofu soup ($2.95) is huge, satisfying, and full of veggies. The wonton soup ($2.95) has 3 good sized wontons. Both soups come with a bowl of tastier-than-average fried wonton strips on the side that I end up munching on during the entire meal. The sizzling black pepper beef ($16.95?) was tasty, but I was more impressed by the noodle dishes. The beef chow fun ($14.95?) and the Singapore mei fun ($13.95) were beautifully seasoned and cooked perfectly. I've also gotten the salmon nigiri ($5.95?) a couple times, and it's generously portioned and fresh with great quality salmon. Every meal ends with a complimentary tiny scoop of vanilla ice cream and fortune cookie. There are plenty of good Chinese restaurants in MoCo, but Gourmet Asian Bistro is my current favorite for best flavor and value.“

“The fish soup was flavorful, and the portion size was generous. I also liked that you can do a half-and-half soup with both fish and beef if you want to try both.

There are plenty of side dishes to choose from, and the cucumber was refreshing. The sticky rice cake and the spicy sour noodles were just okay and didn't stand out compared to the soup.

The seating area is fairly small, so it's not the best choice for larger groups, though we had no trouble walking in without a reservation. The staff were friendly and efficient, making the whole experience smooth. I'd definitely come back for the fish soup.“

“Food is great, easily one of the best dumplings I've tried in my life. Everything is flavorful and really good. I like it so much that I drive there over 40 mins to eat with friends from time to time. The first few visits I had some issues with the service but it seems to be improving.“

“Great authentic Chinese noodle shop will definitely come back again. Stopped here on a Sunday afternoon very hungry after a morning of kayaking. Enjoyed of bowl of M1 dry pork noodles. Really amazing and authentic taste- the flavors take me back noodle shops in China I’ve visited. A perfect balance of umami, sweet, numbing, salty and crunch of fresh cucumbers. As a gluten sensitive eater I also appreciated that all their noodle dishes use rice noodles.“

Vegetable lo mein is super delicious. Their szechuan chicken and red peppers is very spicy but delicious. Beef sechuan very delicious. The service is professional, fast, and friendly. “I've been eating here with my family for over 5 years, and it's probably THE Chinese restaurant to eat at around here. The food makes me feel blessed to be able to live on Earth and I always stuff myself full afterward. It can be a bit lively during popular eating times (like when there's at least 30 people in chairs snorkling down food), but it's nothing much of a disturbance; a bit quieter during less busy times. If you're curious to check it out, I'd recommend any dish with flounder (flounder + greens, hai sian guo ba, etc.), green beans (gan bian si zi duo), and maybe a couple scallion pancakes for people who prefer more bread-y foods. I've never had any issue with the servers either. Takeout and dine-in + taking home leftovers are available here.“

We ordered about 25 small plates between 3 people (including desert) and we were stuffed! Some items tasted a bit too experimental and did not satisfy the classic Cantonese flavor profile that I’m used to. Some were really good! I grew up eating authentic Cantonese dim sum in Los Angeles and have tried amazing eating dim sum in Hong Kong and Guangzhou. In the DMV area, we have limited dim sum options - so this place will do when I crave dim sum! The service and atmosphere were really nice. Total rating is 4.5 stars.“

If you are looking for the best bang-for-your-buck Chinese carryout in the area, look no further than Panda Wok. The C6 Spare Ribs Chinese Special Combination Platter is an absolute standout, packed with a generous portion of ribs, roast pork fried rice, and an egg roll. As someone who eats a whole lot, I am consistently impressed by the size of their portions. They do not skimp out on the meat or the rice, and the food easily earns a perfect 5/5 for taste and value. I always end up having plenty of leftovers for the next day.
While the food steals the show, the service and atmosphere are a bit more average, sitting at a 3.5/5. It is a classic, no-frills carryout spot that gets the job done quickly, but you aren't coming here for a high-end dine-in vibe. One minor thing to keep in mind if you are ordering is that the parking lot can get pretty tricky and tight during busy peak hours.
Overall, I give Panda Wok a solid 4/5 stars. For the price, it is hands down the best Chinese carryout spot in the area, and it has officially secured its place as my go-to neighborhood favorite.“

“This is a small restaurant with pleasant seating and quiet atmosphere. I phoned in a take out order that was taken cheerfully and politely with a 10 minute estimate and ready on time. I ordered double cooked pork along with two egg rolls. The egg rolls were crispy, nice and hot. One was a little salty but not overly much. The main dish was flavorful, the pork along with cabbage, peppers and mushrooms. The sauce was flavorful and the right amount to go with the included white rice. This would be a pleasant spot for an informal dinner for two.“

“This is a takeout place. I ordered delivery, which was expensive. With delivery fee, convenience fee, tax, and tip, the cost was more than double for the food.
I was pleasantly surprised by the food. I ordered two lunches. You get a choice of appetizers. The wonton soup is much tastier than at most restaurants. The egg roll was pretty good.
I ordered shrimp with vegetables, which comes in a white sauce. The shrimp was cooked perfectly, and the vegetables were crisp. For under $3 extra, you can get plain lo mein instead of rice. It was tasty.
I also ordered Szechuan pork. It's supposed to be spicy. I found it mildly spicy. It comes with broccoli, carrots, and onions. They give you plenty of pork, and the sauce has a nice flavor.
I will get their food again, but not with delivery.“

Dorris was amazing! She helped us pick the best choices. We had authentic, home-cooked style Chinese food, while a few with a slight twist with newer ingredients that married beautifully together. Everything we tried hit all the right spots! The grandma noodles (at the other location, same as hand pulled chili oil noodle at this location)- absolute must try!

The best part was the feeling we got every time the servers brought food to our table. They were smiling and was proud to share those delicious dishes. It felt like we had gone to someone’s home and they were excited to share their food with us.“

This time we ordered their crispy beef and salt & pepper fish.
Crispy beef - It is thinly sliced and the beef is dry. However, we like to order it because of the crunchy texture and the sweet and spicy flavor.

Salt & pepper fish- Well fried and not oily. It has a very good mild jalapeño flavor.

“This place has been around for a while and the food is always good. Their lunch menu is good and the dinner options are just as good. It’s mainly good for takeout and delivery. You can dine in but it’s only 2 tables and it’s not server style, you order at the counter and they bring your food out but it helps to call in advanced so you don’t wait around.“

“The shrimp with broccli is really good, no need to add soy sauce at all! I always get it a lil spicy, it gives it a kick! The wings are really good too and not all hormone injected looking!🤣! They just need to make their mumbo sauce a lil thicker and flavorful, its a bit watery! Overall their food is on point! The fried rice is good as well!
