“If you’re looking for real Sichuan food, not American “Chinese” food, Lakeside Asia Café is the spot. Everything we ordered was amazing.

The boiled fish was perfect. Soft fish, full of flavor, floating in spicy chili oil and numbing Sichuan peppercorns. This is the real deal.

The spicy chicken was crispy, fiery, and addictive. Not too greasy, just full of heat and taste. We kept going back for more.

The pork intestines hot pot was super tasty. Clean, chewy, full of deep flavor. The broth was spicy and rich.

The pig brain hot pot sounds wild, but it was so soft and smooth. Like custard, but savory and full of umami. Try it. Trust me.

The pork belly? Melt-in-your-mouth, flavorful, just the right amount of fat. Every bite was heaven.

This is not the place for orange chicken or sweet-and-sour pork. Don’t walk in here expecting Panda Express. You’ll embarrass yourself. This is real Chengdu food. It’s bold. It’s spicy. It’s alive.

We loved every bite. We’ll be back again and again.“

“I do not understand why this place only has 4 stars. I’ve been going here for years, no doubt my favorite Chinese takeout restaurant in the area. The service was friendly, the food was fresh and delicious, and portions are generous. Next time you’re looking for Chinese takeout, look no further.“

“The 3.1-star rating (as of November 2025) for this takeout Chinese restaurant isn’t fair at all. A score closer to 4 or 5 would be more appropriate. Since coming under new management this past summer, the restaurant has become much more appealing and welcoming. The lunch specials, around $10 each, are excellent choices and among my favorites. Note it often gets quite busy, especially during lunchtime.“

“MEG IS ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! She was phenomenal. It was a bit busy, and we watched her manage several tables with such finesse that no one was left behind/stuck waiting. We will definitely visit again, and that's partly due to the food being great and partly due to how awesome she was.“

“As we're lucky to have so many authentic and diverse restaurants in Northern Virginia, we decided to give Chef Tan a try.

I'd say it's a solid choice if you're nearby or looking for authentic Chinese food in Vienna. While it's not the best Chinese food I've ever had, every dish we ordered was good and the overall meal was enjoyable.

That said, with so many great Chinese restaurants closer to where I live, I probably wouldn't drive all the way to Vienna to have Chef Tan unless I happened to be in the area and is craving Chinese food.“

Here’s my quick take:
Walked in not expecting much, but the place has a clean, no-frills vibe that feels pretty authentic. You can tell this is more about the food than the experience.

Started with the soup dumplings — honestly, these are the reason to come here. Good broth inside, not too greasy, and held together well (which is half the battle with XLB).

Went for the spicy beef noodle soup next. Flavor was good, comforting, but I wish it had a bit more punch. Noodles were legit though — chewy, fresh, and clearly the highlight.
Service was… okay. Not bad, not great. Feels like a place that gets busy and just keeps moving.

Overall: this is a solid local spot. Not mind-blowing, but if you order right, you’ll walk out happy. Definitely coming back for dumplings and buns.“

“The food great, better then others, it was hot fresh and delicious, I had the chicken with mix vegetables. And it came with a egg roll. Long time since I has a delicious egg roll. Place was clean. The only thing was the mechine that you can order your food on. Coming to get Chinese food to places like this it feels great when someone takes your order. Overall 👍 great.“

“Delicious malatang and very friendly owner. I liked that it was not self-serve and likely more sanitary than regular malatang. Also such a treat that they had 锅包肉, a specialty from my family’s region in China. It was so delicious and fresh, and we loved it!“

“One of the best Chinese food I have ever had. Tried the dry fried cauliflower, ganghood chicken, Lazi chicken, and spring rolls and all of them were absolutely decadent! It is so special that we have food like this in our area, everything here (noodles, dumplings, etc) are so obviously made the day of (you can tell by the taste) by hand, from scratch. The owner was so kind and nice.

Make sure you try the spicy wonton and the biang biang, and dine in.

“The dishes are even cleaner tasting and less salty than before, and we love the new chicken wonton soup. The chefs have creatively used spices and ground halal meat to recreate pork dishes. Great for those who eat halal but also for those who don't want to feel bloated after a Chinese meal. We loved the chicken broccoli and moo shoo and will be ordering again for this healthier take on American Chinese food.“

“My neice wanted to go to her favorite place for her 18th bday, so my sister called the Chin Chin Cafe and they said no problem. They had reserved tables when I arrived so I could decorate. Raymond was the MOD and was very helpful. We also had great customer service from the 3 employees working that night, it could not have gone any smoother! The timing of the food coming out was perfect!! Everything from the appetizers to the sushi to the main course dishes were delicious and plentiful. All our guests, especially the bday girl, were very happy. if you have not tried them yet, do yourself a favor and do so. “After living in Countryside for over 40 years we never found this gem. Long time patrons of Cheng’s & Good Fortune restaurants we have tried many other local Chinese restaurants with no real luck. Found China Goirmet on a whim search and it exceeded our expectations!! The potstickers were tender, flavorful and mouth watering! The moo shi pork and the crispy crunchy beef were over the top wonderful! The prices were very reasonable and they even had bar service with extremely reasonable prices. “I was not familiar with this place but my family was craving for real Chinese food! I checked good places near and decided to try China Express. To be honest when I parked in the front I was skeptical but follow my willingness to discover new places but when I got in and received by a very kind staff and felt the yummy smell from the kitchen I thought it was going to be good! I ordered fried rice, noodle soup, general tso chicken and some house lo mein, it was extremely delicious! Food quality is top and service was simply amazing! The bone broth is bracing, complex, and flavorful, far richer and deeper than pho or tonkotsu. Recommend getting it spicy: it brings all the flavors together without being overwhelming. Additionally, the Sichuan menu is one of the best in the area, second only to Mama Chang's and Hong Kong Palace. This place is pretty new and trying to get its feet underneath it. “I love how natural all the flavors taste. The dumplings are made fresh daily. They also have a variety of Chinese dishes that I highly recommend. I love their Shanghai rice cakes in the soy gravy. The portions are pretty big and great for sharing. We will definitely be back!“

“This is a chain that has locations all over New York. I'm glad there is a location close to me. It's my go to for sauerkraut fish soup.

They also have a secret menu for Fuzhou cuisine like peanut noodles, Fuzhou wontons and meatball soup that are pretty close to what I remember from Fuzhou.“

“Our Monday night dinner group has come back here multiple times. The smell is wonderful immediately when you walk in. The host and all staff there are super friendly and always fun to chat with. Our waiter had our whole table laughing every time we engaged with him. Everyone's orders were perfectly cooked, nice sized portions and came out very quickly. I personally love the Malaysian Iced Coffee, Roti Canai and Chicken Satay. Our group had noodle dishes, beef, lamb, seafood....all was wonderful. “We love chopsticks house, it’s one of the best Chinese places in the area.

A little concerned though because I ordered on April 18 2025 for my family, and my dad got a piece of a metal cleaning brush in his food. Thank goodness he noticed and didn’t swallow it.“
