I'd say it's a solid choice if you're nearby or looking for authentic Chinese food in Vienna. While it's not the best Chinese food I've ever had, every dish we ordered was good and the overall meal was enjoyable.

That said, with so many great Chinese restaurants closer to where I live, I probably wouldn't drive all the way to Vienna to have Chef Tan unless I happened to be in the area and is craving Chinese food.“

“I judge most Peking Duck restaurants by their Peking Duck, and this was as good as you’ll find in the US! The skin was beautifully crispy, and the duck was delicious. The Scallion Bubble Bread was another standout, as were the pea shoots and eggplant dishes.

Unfortunately, the Wagyu Lo Mein and Seafood & Tofu Claypot were misses. The brown sauce-based dishes generally fell flat, lacking the depth and complexity of flavor I expected.

The atmosphere was wonderful, and the parking free. Overall, a lovely dining experience with some exceptional dishes and a few misses. I’d absolutely return for the Peking Duck!“

It was different - not as bold - from my usual prefer spot in Fair Oak Mall, which closed after Covid. We also tried the beef stripe and had mixed feelings. It wasn't all stripes but mixed with marinated beef, and the dish was good. It just that we preferred all stripes. Our waitress was very helpful and sincere. Good experience. “I love getting food from here. Even when I am not shopping in Ranch 99 I would go there to get food and grab some groceries while waiting.

The owner is nice and the whole operation is very clean. I’d say it’s cleaner than 95% of the restaurants out there. The owner is one of those “OCD” types lol. When you tell him how much you want for the dry pot (by weight) he would get to that weight to the exact decimal point. I sometimes would tell him it’s ok to miss a bit I am just giving you an estimate. Also he is happy to cater your preference. I love lots of veggies in mine so I’d ask him to put more veggies than meat. He’d gladly to do anything like that.

It’s spicy but I never felt it’s too greasy and the flavor is great! It’s not just done with a sauce pack. You can see fresh garlic pieces in there too.

Definitely a hidden gem. Better than a typical vendor in a Chinese grocery store. I wish all Chinese restaurants can be run with this caliber.“

To be honest when I parked in the front I was skeptical but follow my willingness to discover new places but when I got in and received by a very kind staff and felt the yummy smell from the kitchen I thought it was going to be good! I ordered fried rice, noodle soup, general tso chicken and some house lo mein, it was extremely delicious! Food quality is top and service was simply amazing! This is a hidden gem in Tysons and definitely will come back! Superb!“

I ordered egg drop soup, lunch specials kung pao shrimp and orange chicken, and some wings. I LOVE their wings (as someone who doesn't eat fried wings often).
