“Crispy shredded beef and Kung Pao chicken were tasty. General Tso's shrimp had so much breading on it that I had a hard time finding the shrimp. I would not recommend this dish unless you mostly want fried bread. I asked for medium spicy and the dishes were mild. The portions were very generous as we have left overs. The delivery from the time I ordered took a total of 55 minutes. I like supporting local business and will try other dishes from them.“

“I’ve ordered three times here since Nov 2025, and the halal indication is what made me curious to try the place. I’m happy Hunan Cafe is in the neighborhood! The food is good and clean, meat portions generous, the white rice that comes as a side was fragrant and tasty. I’m not left second guessing my order unlike other Chinese take out spots that can be too oily or use too much MSG. The service is reliable and friendly.

More details: I’ve placed over the phone with no issue and have ordered using the kiosk. They securely pack the takeout. I’ve earned a reward through Toast, the ordering app. There’s plenty of space to eat-in, if you’d like. I haven’t had an issue with parking, it’s a strip / plaza lot shared with other businesses. Dishes I’ve tried: spicy chicken wonton, lo mein, Taiwan noodle with veggie, Szechuan beef, and La Zhi chicken.“

The outstanding customer service I received at Golden Restaurant truly deserves to be highlighted. On an especially hot day, I walked in and was immediately offered a cold bottled water—completely free of charge. It was such a thoughtful gesture that set the tone for the rest of my visit.

When I called ahead to place an order for shrimp fried rice with customization (no msg, light on the soy sauce, very little oil), they listened intently and even repeated my requests so I can verify. Lo and behold, they delivered exactly what I asked for—the dish was cooked perfectly to my liking!

It’s rare these days, especially at a mostly pick-up-style restaurant, to find staff who are not only helpful but genuinely considerate and accommodating. Yesterday, my buddy and I ordered some food for carry out on our way out of his storage unit. Come to find out, if you don’t leave by 9pm, they lock you in, literally. I called Empire back to tell them of the situation, and without hesitation, they offered to bring our food to us at the storage unit despite being 5 minutes to closing by the time we figured out that the police officer’s code wasn’t going to work (we thought we were gonna have to stay the night). Not only that, when he realized our situation, he went back out to a gas station to get us utensils to eat our food there *and* got us 2 drinks. We ended up getting out very shortly after, but it really stuck in my head that this is one of the nicest things a complete stranger has done for me. I didn’t need any other reason to keep coming to Empire, but this validates my love for this place and the people that run it. The best part is the food was still warm when we made it back home. “The Extra Spicy Dry Hot Pot is insanely good. I get one of these every single time I come to Hot Peppercorn, and it hits just right every single time. I prefer it with pork, but you can get it with any pritein you prefer.

The waiters are always extremely attentive and nice, the food always comes out in a timely fashion, and I feel my soul heal itself a bit every time I get the dry hot pot. Absolutely in my Top 3 favorite restaurants ever because of this.“

“I’ve been a loyal fan of South China Restaurant on Mount Vernon Avenue for years, but I wanted to try something new tonight, so I ordered from Ho’s Chinese Carryout in Centre Plaza for the first time. The General Tso’s chicken was really good and a totally different style from what I usually get. The sauce was nice and light with a golden brown color, a hint of garlic, and a good kick of spice that didn't overwhelm. The chicken chunks were moist with a nice crunch on the outside. I liked the broccoli pieces in it, but I could’ve used a little more!

I placed a mobile order and the food was packed up and waiting for me when I walked in 10-15 minutes later. Fast service and a great first experience. I’ll definitely be back to try something else next time.“

“I had family over for dinner and decided to order three party platters, spring rolls, crab rangoon, and soup. Each platter is said to be 6 servings but it certainly seemed like it was more because we had a ton of leftovers. We ordered the sweet and sour chicken, szechuan beef, and kung pao shrimp as our entrees and everything was a absolutely delicious. The food was ready right on time, the chicken was still crispy when we got it home, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed all the food. I would order for a party again without hesitation, and, of course will be back for smaller meals whenever the craving hits. Thank you for helping make our party a success!“

We really enjoy Hunan Cafe in Burke. Their crispy beef is a favorite of mine, and we always order the crab rangoons and Singapore rice noodles—everything is consistently delicious. My husband especially loves their Kung Pao Chicken.

Jenny at the front is always friendly and kind, which makes the experience even better. The indoor dining area is clean, with comfortable chairs, and I really appreciate that they bring your food out on actual plates instead of styrofoam. That extra touch makes dining in feel so much nicer.

“Szechuan Delight has maintained over 30 years of consistent good food, unchanged great taste, quick customer service. I was living off beauregard st. behind the old shoppers in 1995 and working at my first job at arby's when I discovered Szechuan Delight. There were always very affordable and quick.. Items used to be around 5.95 or $6.95.. They have excellent lomein, hunan and szechuan dishes. However what is very unique to that restaurant is their Chicken & Hot Garlic dish. In course of time, after college, I moved to maryland, then florida, followed by long stay in europe. I have never found anything close that their chicken & hot garlic sauce dish.. Every chance I get to visit virginia, perhaps every few years, I try to stop at szechuan delight for that dish and even after 30 years, it still tastes exactly the same. I've looked up thousands of instructions and could never replicate it.. I hope my next visit, the chef might allow me to learn how to make that dish, so I can enjoy it while living in europe.“
