“This is small Japanese restaurant (only 4 tables and reservation only) with only course menu. All the dishes were fantastic! Even dessert (house made green tea ice cream) was the best ever I tasted! Wagyu beef was really good, but my most favorite dish of the day was Octopus agedashi. It was little crisp outside and chewy soft inside. I strongly recommend this restaurant for special occasion.“
“Littlest DD and I went here for an early dinner before walking and Old Town. It is as advertised. It is small and cute with understated ambiance. The service is quick and friendly. The sushi is excellent. We got a dragon roll, spicy tuna, rainbow roll and miso. Would definitely return.“
“I realize how important reviews are for small businesses like this, especially for sushi which is so unique especially for knowing which places have fresh seafood. I came here several weeks ago with very moderate expectations. Everything was delicious. The sashimi platter was phenomenal as well as the specialty rolls. This place is definitely fresh and worth a try.“
“This place is so fun if you love a variety of Asian foods, and this evening I happened to walk in on a fantastic live jazz band playing by the bar. Last time, we had Korean tacos and tempura, this time I’m having croffles, miso soup, and spaghetti. (I know it’s weird but it’s all so delicious)“
“Stopped into Kumo for some sushi and this place was popping! There were not many empty tables but I happened to find one and decided to eat inside the restaurant instead of takeout. The restaurant had a sushi specials menu as well as regular rolls; Thai, Chinese, and hibachi entrees. I could not make a a decision on what I wanted but ended up ordering the chicken with broccoli with fried rice. The fried rice is $1 extra. The chicken and broccoli came out hot! The texture of the chicken was a little off. The rice didn't come out at the same time as my entree. I also ordered the Pokémon roll. The roll was huge and very delicious. I wish the waitress would have brought out the roll and just waited for the rice to come out at the same time. I would definitely be back to try more of what Kumo has to offer.“
“4.5 stars (for the area) It's a shame that there are such terrible reviews for this spot. I don't know why people are expecting top notch sushi in Waldorf. You have to manage your expectations to the area it is located in. Their prices aren't as high as DC or northern VA sushi spots that specialize in sushi. Think of this as a place for no frills good sushi but not a fancy sushi specific restaurant. If you go with this reasonable expectation, you will not be disappointed. Also, there are so many other options other than sushi. They changed management in the last few months, so keep that in mind. They updated the interior, and it is much nicer. It's also a quaint spot that people mainly order takeout for from what I've seen in the many times we have been. The new service staff are friendly, but the miscommunication issue that some other reviews mentioned may be due to the language barrier. It seems that English is not the first language of the service staff, so that is probably the cause. If you want home-cooked Korean food vibes, this is the place. When I miss my mom's home cooking I go here! I believe this is a small, local owned business, so let's try to be kind and respectful in our reviews. We are all trying to make a living out here in this ridiculous economy.“
“Ok, I didn't actually eat here. My daughter accidentally ordered takeout from this restaurant instead of our local sushi restaurant.By the time we realized the mistake they had already prepared the entire order. We called them, and the manager graciously refunded the entire amount. So I can't comment on the quality of the food, but I can say that any restaurant that would be kind enough to do that (they didn't have to) is probably a great place to eat.“
“My family and I come here at least twice a month and would be here weekly if we lived closer. They have the best sushi in NOVA. We’ve tried several places and this is the only place that comes close to sushi we’ve had on the west coast. Their fish is always fresh and they season their rice to perfection. They have lots of tasty looking dishes on their menu but the sushi is so good we have yet to try anything else.“
“First time eating here, it was a win. I ordered the spicy beef bento box and shrimp bento box takeout, and it was fresh, hot, great portions, with a side of yamm yamm sauce and rice and steamed cabbage.Gotta be the best deal in town. Place was clean and the employees nice. Will definitely be ordering from here again.“
“My friend and I tried this place based on Yelp ranking of best Sushi restaurants in Alexandria and we were not disappointed. The waiters were attentive and courteous. They had sushi happy hour 5-7PM as well as a great offer of 3 sushi rolls + miso soup + house salad. The rolls were thick and filled with big bits of fresh tuna and salmon. My favorite was the crunchy spicy Tuna roll (I think it's called Alaska?).I'm definitely referring friends to this excellent place and I will be coming back soon on next visit to Alexandria.“
“This is our favorite sushi place. It's more hibachi-the sushi section is small but it's delicious. We've been going there forever and our kids have become little sushi connoisseurs. The staff are so nice and always talking about how fast they're growing and how we are doing. The hibachi is yummy and so fun. The cocktails are delicious, too! If I could give this place more stars I would.“
“I really like the lighting. As you can see from the photos the actual bar is illuminated, which gives the restaurant a mellow amber glow. Very clean and the staff wanted to ensure my order was perfect, correct and tasty. I ordered to-go and had an amaretto sour while I waited. I decided to eat there because the bartender was generous ?, I call it a cruise ship cocktail when they are well spiked, domo arigato. Very nice selection of $5 cocktails. The reason for the 4-stars for food is my food was a bit overly greasy and my wings a tad tough. The teriyaki sauce was yummy and not too salty, and yes I like salty. I didn't have sushi this visit but when I have in the past it was fresh and delicious.Again a reminder to the readers please support of our small businesses ?“
“Vegetarian options: There are plenty of veggies to choose from. I recommend to get them stir fry with the noodles or over rice?. I usually order the calamari and hibachi shrimp. I also like the tuna rolls, salmon rolls with the sauce or the eel and volcano rolls are good as well.“
“I was thinking about getting sushi and this place came up in my search. The sushi was good. I went with two options that I knew couldn't get messed up. Shrimp tempura and a sweet potato roll. Both rolls were filling. The shrimp and veggie tempura appetizer was just flat. I think it's because it's just tempura and no seasoning on the veggies or shrimp so the taste is Just bland.“
“I have been going to Extreme Teriyaki since they opened. They are consistent with their service and their food. Staff is friendly and they always make sure that your order is correct. The food is not only good, but always hot because it is cooked while you wait for it, and you can watch the cooks cooking it. I usually take mine home and by the time I get home it is still piping hot. The restaurant is clean. It has plenty of seating, but hardly anyone sits in there since Covid.“
“Hibachi was good, the experience you expect. We called ahead (party of 6) and were seated right on time with another couple. Chef was funny and personable, did the usual stuff, throwing veggies into your mouh, squirting saki, onion vocano, egg theatrics. Drinks were good, food was great.“
“I watched a co-worker having what I referred to as "a food fantasy". They recommended this particular location for its service and food. My waze directed me to the location which is adjacent to the JCPENNEY parking lot in a strip with 2 other businesses.I arrived midday and was welcomed by a pleasant woman near the door. Within 5-10 minutes my meal was prepared which was a combo of teriyaki chicken and shrimp with veggies, noodles, green onions, sesame seeds and extra sauce. The staff was very pleasant and appeared to work well together as a team. The portions were generous and I would definitely eat there again. After I got home I too had "a food fantasy". My vegetables were perfectly cooked, not hard or overcooked. The meats were tender, fresh and flavorable.I have since eaten at two other locations and have come back to this one for a new combo. This time I added steak and the next time I will add salmon which came highly recommended by many people.I would definitely recommend this location, the service and the food options.Parking: In front of the business are several parking spaces. The overflow lot of JCPENNEY is available as well.“
“I've been to hibachi spots all over town, but nothing was like my Experience at Tokyo Japanese this past week! I once again committed the cardinal Yelp sin (forgetting to take photos) but it was only because I was having such a great dining experience. The chef's performance at the hibachi grill was not only delicious but also an engaging show, enhancing the evening. The skilled chef's charismatic approach added flair to the preparation of our meal, and he was hilarious! From the kids to adults everyone had a great time! Additionally, the selection of drinks complemented the meal superbly, offering a well-curated beverage menu that added to the enjoyment of the evening. The clean and well-maintained facilities further contributed to a pleasant atmosphere, creating a comfortable environment for patrons to savor their meals. The combination of excellent service, delectable cuisine, and a well-kept setting makes this hibachi restaurant a standout choice.“
“This is a hidden gem and has the best fare! I was not expecting to find such an elegant restaurant in a strip mall and certainly had no idea how good the food would be. I had the miso ramen and shrimp tempura, which was plated beautifully and the taste was perfection. I will drive out of my way to dine there again! The hot sake is supreme, very smooth and $9.50 for a large.“
“Rebranded as Zuki Moon, the space is brighter and more welcoming. The addition of Filipino food items has them offering something that Del Ray was missing. Plus Kelvin is the best cocktail creator and bartender with the sweetest personality.“
“My husband and I were coming here ones in a while before even our family grew. Love this place: very cozy, family friendly, warm service and always creative on dish decoration that turn our evenings into small life celebration. Thank you to the team ❤️And highly recommend to others ?“
“Quick service. Good was good. Portion size was nice. Atmosphere was as expected for this type of quick service restaurant.Parking: Plenty of parking for this little strip mall. Few spots up front but definitely plenty just beyond. Even the furthest spot is not a long walkWheelchair accessibility: Normal sidewalk with ramps, no step up into restaurant“
“I came in 25 minutes before closing, yet I was greeted with open arms, smiles, and was told to take my time. The food and service is absolutely amazing here. Fresh food is always the best and they delivered on that too. Cleanliness is top notch as well! Javier and Jose are great representatives of this company. I came all the way down from near Baltimore to shore some homes, as I’m a real estate agent; I would definitely make the trip again just to come back here. You’ve earned a loyal customer. Keep up the great work!“
“The restaurant has a bit of a bland appearance, but it really big on the inside. We didn't sit at one of the hibachi tables so we were seated straight away. The menu for the entrees and teriyaki were very expensive, no less than $20 for anything. So, I got miso soup ginger salad and sushi rolls. My family thought that it was one of the best miso soups they'd ever had, and we've been to a lot of Asian restaurants. For sushi I got fried salmon skin and tempura shrimp, and they were both delicious. My dad got the chicken teriyaki and the serving was huge. I forgot my bag in the restaurant, and when I came back in our waitress handed it right to me, which was really kind of her. An overall good and delicious experience!“
“The chicken and shrimp teriyaki dishes were both delicious (the small size is perfect for one meal, I even had some leftover). Our order was ready within 15 minutes to pickup. The lady at the front counter was attentive and kind! Even offered a free soda for orders over $30. Would highly recommend this place to anyone in the Fort Washington area!Vegetarian options: Tofu teriyaki is offered, along with salads and various vegetarian sushi rolls.Wheelchair accessibility: Easy access from parking lot. Sidewalk has wheelchair accessible ramp to access main entrance of restaurant.“
