“This is a nice suburban restaurant near The Mall in Columbia, Maryland. The service is attentive, and the restaurant itself is comfortable. This food doesn't push the culinary envelope, but it is flavorful and nicely served.We had the French Tease cocktail, a riff on the French 75, which they altered at my request to be less sweet.I had two small plates as my dinner. The crab cake sundae was a bowl of Maryland tomato- based crab soup, which had a ladle of cream of crab soup in the middle, and in that was a crab cake and a crab claw. It was an interesting dish, and all was perfectly fine. The waitress did not think that was enough for dinner, so I had the fried oysters with bacon and onion dressing with a surprisingly spicy black hot sauce. The oysters were small and a bit greasy, but tasty. We shared the grilled asparagus with burrata and hazelnut gremolata. It was pretty good, but the asparagus ends were woody.My companion had the scallops served with roasted mushrooms and an onion risotto, topped with a bacon soubise sauce and crispy leeks. It was tasty, but it is a very heavy preparation for scallops. I think they were a bit lost in all the rest of the food on the plate.We ended with a very nice and creamy key lime pie.So in summary, the serving sizes are quite large. The food is fine. The service is attentive. There was nothing that would particularly make me want to return, but if someone else wanted to eat there, it would also be okay.“

“I blindly put the orange sauce all over my taco papusas and now my mouth is screaming.I came here craving tamales and also ordered the steak taco papusas.The tamales were alright. But I was looking for more of a SoCal Mexican tamale and these were not it. They're small sweet corn tamales with Salvadoran sour cream on the side and they do make for a good appetizer. But definitely not a savory meal and that's okay.The taco papusas were molten hot and delicious. I'm stuffed. The first one I had I poured the green salsa and lime over, but I couldn't pick it up, so I dug in with a fork. It was great.The second one however... Without tasting the orange sauce, I dumped it all over and took a bite. It's not an intense flavor, but boy oh boy does it burn. I almost wasted my horchata trying to cool my mouth off to eat. 10/10 would burn again.The cashier definitely didn't speak English well. And I don't speak Spanish well. Possibly in the future, I'll order online to make it less confusing for everyone involved. Regardless we managed to get my order in which was clearly displayed on the screen. It worked out. It did not help that I kept changing my mind on items halfway through.I'm definitely ordering from here again when I'm done feeling like a stuffed balloon.“

“Went back to the Trolley Stop for the first time in over ten years and had a good time and meal. Wife and I split a Caesar salad and French Onion Soup as course #1, the Caesar salad with blackened chicken was delicious, like really really great, the way they dressed it was just perfect and the chicken was not "too blackened" just right. The French onion soup was very good, tasty and cheesy but not too cheesy, just right. For our entrees, my wife and I split a mushroom, bacon, swiss burger and the French Dip. The French dip was probably the lowest point of the night, you had to pay extra to get it with cheese and fried onions (that put the sandwich up close to $20) and it just wasn't that great, not bad, but nothing special, just a big pile of roast beef that needed a dip in the au jus to taste good. The Swiss Bacon burger was delicious, cooked perfectly to medium (so many places overcook when you ask for medium, this had a perfect pink center), very tasty bacon, just very good. Our trip was probably 4.5 stars, we will come back!“

The most disappointing was the meatloaf, which was incredibly salty. In fact everything on the plate was over-salted, including the mashed potatoes, and especially the cauliflower that accompanied it. The veggie wrap was fresh, but a little sparse and could have been better filled. The wrap itself was fresh and overall good. Might visit again. Not quite worth 4 stars, but the choices in the area are limited and Ten Oaks is a decent option.“

“KCR is the most beautiful classic place for a meal in Howard County. The food in the past has lived up to the ambiance but in the most recent visit there were some let downs. The meal started with an excellent Brie and an excellent Riesling. The main courses were Crab Cakes and Veal Margarita. The Crab Cakes were very good but not quite as good as past visit although I still would go back for them. The big disappointment was the veal. It was a really ugly piece of veal that reminded me of processed meats. A bland marinara sauce over soggy spaghetti made the dish almost uneatable. The best part was perfectly prepared vegetables so it wasn't a total loss. A fruit tart was excellent as well. I still love the place so hopefully this was just a once off.“

“First visit and certainly won't be the last. Had brunch and enjoyed everything consumed. Started with the Fried Oyster Deviled Eggs, which were really good. Main entrees were the French Toast and Smoked Salmon Toast. The French Toast is way too much for 1 person so it was split between 3 people and there was still a slice remaining. It was quite tasty but there was an orange flavored taste that took away from it just a little. I really enjoyed the Smoked Salmon Toast, no complaints at all and the same goes for the pitcher of Planters Punch. Our waiter, Silva was awesome, put grenadine in our glasses to enhance the punch and it was perfect. My friends ordered the Shrimp Frittata and both enjoyed it. I had the shrimp carbonara which was very nice with large shrimp. 2 others had the scallops special with risotto and loved it. Large portions which we all enjoyed as leftovers the next night. Heath Bar bread pudding with vanilla ice cream was a decadent ending. Service was good, but we were seated by the kitchen which was the only minor disappointment of the evening.“

Our server must have relayed super specific instructions for the chef because everything I don't like was in little tin cups to the side. I truly enjoyed my meal thanks to him.
