“Took my father here on 6/15 for a Father's Day lunch because the one in Northeast DC is closed, and the service was always great. The hostess/greeter and the food were great at this one, too. The service - not so much.??♀️ Specifically, the waiter was terrible to the extent that we informed the hostess/greeter. We were not offered water like others were. We had longer wait times to get our drinks, appetizers, and meals while we saw others in bigger parties who came in after us be served. The person who actually brought our food to the table was more engaging than the server, which says a lot... Even after bringing it to the hostess/greeter's attention, nothing changed. I'm not sure we'll return, which is sad because the food is so good and we like supporting Black-owned businesses...“

“I saw a picture of the food here so I came to try it. Rarely does the food taste as good as it looks in a picture. The food was absolutely amazing and far exceeded my expectations. Our server Jazzy was fantastic; patient, kind, and attentive . Amazing brunch spot!!!“

“Really great experience here. The manager sent over an app for us as they didn't have a table that we wanted. Really great customer service! We would have been fine without it, but it shows the lengths they'll go to to keep customers happy. Server was super nice and professional and the food was great too! We highly recommend!!“

“This was my first time at Hen Quarter Prime. As we entered the door, we were warmly greeted by Crystal. She immediately introduced herself, and asked if we'd wait for her to check on our seating. She returned and asked that she follow us to the seating area. As we walked through the restaurant, we couldn't help but to notice the beautiful decor and the lovely food buffet we were rather to indulge in. As we passed seating we were puzzled as to why we weren't being seated, until we were escorted in to a PRIVATE dining room!! Shocked and thinking that a mistake was made, Crystal explained to us that due to seating constraints in the main dining area, she made the decision to seat us in the private dining area for comfort. FAVOR is the first word that came to mind, as I assured my friends that I had not reserved a private room for us. We felt special and were thoroughly pleased to have been granted such an exclusive experience for our first time there. Crystal shared with us that she was a 20+ year educator in the DC Public School System, and that she was glad to accommodate us. Crystal was professional and A M A Z I N G!!! Jordan a Howard University student was our server. She was absolutely AMAZING!! She introduced herself, went over the menu, explained to us that she would be taking care of our every need while dining, and explained thoroughly about the ordering of omeletes. Jordan checked on us often throughout our time there, and shared in on many of our laughs. Jordan was very surprised to know that we had all been friends for more than 30 years, despite the fact that we didn't look over 40?. Most waiters don't like large parties...Jordan thanked us for making her experience with a large party a pleasant one, and invited us to dine there again. We would definitely without a doubt request Jordan as our server!!! Overall, our experience with HQ Prime was a positive one, and we look forward to returning.“

“A very special place for a nice Sunday brunch. They have $8 cocktails from 12pm-4pm on Sundays and for happy hours. The food was a little wait but worth every minute. The staff was fun and attentive. I was also very pleased by the portion sizes.Some of the favorites at the table was the catfish--both of the fried and blackened variations. The potato salad and collard greens were popular sides and you dont want to skip the cornbread!
Parking: You will have to find parking in the surrounding neighborhood. If someone has physical mobility challenges, plan to provide assistance with entering and exiting the restaurant.“

“We went here on Memorial Day and it wasn’t too crowded which was great so we could sit at the bar. The bartender was super friendly & made us delicious drinks. I had the signature old fashioned with maple syrup & my husband had an old fashioned infused with lavender. Overall we had a great time & enjoyed the drinks. Would highly recommend if you’re in the neighborhood.“

“I’m literally standing here waiting on my food while writing this review. My friend and I came out for ramen and saw this place. They offered us samples and BAY-BEEEE the gumbo, the shrimp and grits are fire!!! The bread pudding…BRUH!!! I love it all! lol Grace, Kim and Oye were awesome!!! Customer service is really great here! I 10/10 recommend!“

“I am so happy this place is still open. ❤️ I used to work in the area. Whenever time would allow, my go-to order was the "Royale": BLT with fried egg, american cheese, and hot sauce. Just a mess of a sammich....BUT SOOOO FRIKKIN GOOD!!! Their fried chicken is good, so are the mashed potatoes. I wouldn't stray away from those options, but have heard good things about the pork chops.The very best thing about this place is THE PEOPLE WHO WORK THERE!!! I could always count on service with a smile, sometimes a good joke or two.“

“I was In Falls Church visiting a friend and had to try HSCAFÉ.. @MamaNemsRVA_ I ordered Ribs potato salad collards and yams and I loved it I always post pics as an aspiring food critic but it was so good I forgot !!! For Dessert I ordered Sweet Potato Pie Banana pudding and pound cake which will last me a while but tasted them all for reviews and all three 10/10!!“

“I've dined and use Uber Eats for this location. I am a frequent flyer of this establishment. Anna makes the best drinks and she is the shortest one so you'll know who she is. The croaker is addictive. The fried potatoes are always a hit at any time of the day. Turkey wings potato salad, sweet potato pie (omg) . Yall everything good here. Fried, baked or blended. You're going to love it! Don't take my word for it , try it out for yourself honey!
Vegetarian options: Plenty of veggie options. All the side dishes you would want.
Dietary restrictions: I will call first like any other restaurant prior to visiting about dietary restrictions.
Parking: Plenty of parking ...this location is off of Queen Chapel Road.
Kid-friendliness: Kids are welcome..just know it's a bar there as well so they will be in eat shot of conversations.

“First time customer here! Been dying for soul food during my pregnancy and I’m so happy this is close to my house. The ribs were seasoned and the sauce was good. The staff were very kind and I loved the grandaddy in the back of the house making evening dinner, homey vibes. Greens have a unique flavor I haven’t had eating greens before but they were enjoyable! Just added hot sauce and vinegar. Mac and cheese was just okay, a lil watery for my taste but I will definitely be back soon!“

“This place has fantabulous take-out soul food. The portion sizes are most generous and every thing from their meat entrées to their wide array of side dishes that you pair with your entrée are mouth-wateringly delicious ?. The staff is very nice and this place is run like a well-oiled machine. When they promise your order will be ready in fifteen minutes, it's ready! Everything is packaged to go so well it could almost be shipped in the mail! I recommend this place highly!“

“I enjoyed my liver and onions on Sun, 11/12/23; however, they forgot to add gravy. It was my first time ordering liver; glad they cook it fresh so the wait is longer but that's okay. NEXT TIME, please don't forget the GRAVY!!!!....and make sure you include all of the sides! Thank you! I hope this is the correct location; the one by the Movie Theater and not the Brand New Location.“

“I have not been to any other location to compare, but this one is about a 10 minutes wait from the moment you order at the drive thru to the moment you get to the windows and recieve your food.
They mess up my order about 50% of time. I've been there about 5-7 times and I the average amount of time spent is about the same every time.
The staff is young, but friendly. I have not been on the inside, only drive thru. I usually go weekdays between 1 and 2 and it's moderately congested at that time. Once I have time to go and sit inside, I can update the review.“

“I am really grateful for Black owned vegan options in the neighborhood. I have been a customer for over a decade, have never had a bad meal or visit at the restaurant. Community events are a plus. Take notes from Dr. B! This is how it's done.“
“I work close to YOUNG'S!! IT'S literally the best fried chicken breast I've ever had it's so good! I live in Baltimore so I've eaten from several chicken spots! But this chicken is on another level of goodness! If they were open on weekends I would drive an hour to get it that's how good it is!

“Still the goat! I came home to visit and spent $20 on 5 of us and every single bite was delectable! From 5 to 49 everyone was pleased and the cake was to fight for!!!

“I love the food at EllaRay’s Cafe. I go there every week. I usually call my order in and pick it up in 15 or 20 minutes. I prefer the vegetable platter and an extra side of beans. The portions are enough for two meals for me. I love breakfast there also. Glad I discovered them.“

“Visiting from Texas and Colorado and Caribbean food was mandatory. We tried S&S based on pictures and reviews and it did not disappoint! We tried the lemon pepper wings, pasta, shrimp and grits, deviled eggs and oxtail sliders! Everything was amazing. We'll definitely back. Highly recommend!“
