“My 5yr old son was bullied all day on his bday yesterday I picked him up crying went to honeys in tears because I felt so bad for him. not only did they make a donut extra special for him they sung him happy birthday and gave us amazing service. They’re donuts are amazing but their staff are even better“
“I cannot speak highly enough about this beautiful establishment. Having visited numerous times with my closest friends and family, this has become a cherished spot for our weekend brunches in Northern Virginia. The food is consistently delicious and prepared with the freshest, most delectable ingredients. It never fails to rejuvenate us and kickstart our day. The modern, chic decor is complemented by stunning floral arrangements and contemporary lighting fixtures, creating a genuinely inviting ambiance. The impeccable cleanliness and exceptional service are always appreciated.I am thrilled to return to this exceptional establishment for another delightful brunch experience soon.“
“Customer service on point! Daryle our server was on it. He gave us great recommendations. He never let trash pile on the table. He was constantly checking in on us! The manager also stopped by mid meal and checked on us and also topped off our water…my definition of a leader! The food was amazing and consistent with the Dallas location. We got the Fried Catfish & Shrimp and Grits…chefs kiss! Thanks DC for a great meal, frozen drinks and the vibessss“
“I hadn’t been here in years since they changed ownership. Looking at some of the reviews I was leery. Boy am I glad that I didn’t listen. Went here for dinner last night and everything was absolutely delicious. The fried chicken, fried catfish, lambs, crab cakes and sides of Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, collards, potato salad, and corn bread were all superb. It definitely tasted like eating at your grandmothers. The potato salad was just like my Gma’s; finely diced with celery, celery seed, and a slight tang of mustard accompanied by a slight sweetness. The collards are vegan hence no meat but were still delicious, tender, and flavorful. The drinks were delicious as well. The portion sizes were quite large with everyone having leftovers except for the lamb chops they were so delicious that my friend ate all of them. Matter of fact when she accidentally attempted to cut them with the wrong side of the knife it still went through. Couldn’t recommend more supporting this black owned business.“
“My first time here. It's been a while since I had been out so for water me and my friends came here. The ambiance is cute. Very barrel like place. Especially if you are a whiskey drinker. The bottomless mimosas were a hit. Our waiter Mason was awesome. He assisted us with our many dietary restrictions lol. The manager even came over and chatted with us. I would definitely come back. Oh and we finished brunch off with a whiskey flight!!!! Yes a good time was had by ALL......“
“Scored reservation before rush. Waiter was attentive and honest with recommendations which was appreciated. Atmosphere is beautiful. Food...well...hush puppies were good (spicy sauce)! Deviled eggs, shrimp and grits, and pecan pie were okay but not return trip worthy. Hubby had ribs with dirty rice- tasty. Hummingbird cake to go. Recommend to visit once.“
“What a wonderful Easter brunch! Bottomless mimosa, omelette station, and a prix menu. Live jazz playing. Sax player went through the restaurant playing happy birthday for a patron.Line for omelettes did get kinda long early but then no wait later in the meal.Valet parking at $25 was kinda steep, but on par with all the others in DC.We will definitely go back for more southern cooking!“
“I've experienced catering at events, but this Saturday, Chef Donté catered a Sneaker's Ball for my Aunt's 60th Birthday, and let me tell you something! Ive never had SHRIMP AND GRITS like that before. Nothing dried out and the flavors was just Amazing. I missed out on the 2nd spread, but everyone was saying the Salmon tasted was just Incredible!!!“
“Not too welcoming in 2024, I applied there when they first came to the neighborhood . lot of white people, then I figured out why they didn't hire me you but you never know the Pearl and the oyster. I hope they change their practices. Expeditor could manage your time a little better especially when you got gumbo and salad, and then the barbecue comes out cold. It lessens the experience of having to take it home and warm it up. But those biscuits stop me in my tracks.“
“Situated in a buzzing food hall, this place still manages to stand out.The staff are just great; so friendlyandhelpful. They allowed me to sample everything before deciding what to have. But even then, it was so difficult because everything was delicious.“
“The food here passes the test! My friend and I stopped by the bar and decided to grab some food while we enjoyed a couple libations. I got the chicken wings, potato salad and greens. My friend got the fried pork chops, mac and cheese and cabbage. Everything was good. Trust me I am one of those people who don't trust everyone's potato salad or Mac and cheese. Everything was good, fresh and tasty. We will definitely be back. Oh, and the bartender was a doll. I can't remember her name but she was awesome!“
“Good service and atmosphere. The food was tasty but there were a couple of things that missed the mark for me. For example, the shrimp and grits is sitting in a broth. I'm used to the grits being thick but I needed a spoon to eat these. Really enjoyed the deviled eggs and cornbread.I would certainly go back though!“
“Great place to stop for a dinner before your flight! I had the crab cake dinner which was delicious and served promptly. The potatoes and green beans were also great. Tasted homemade and fresh. The atmosphere was welcoming and guests were friendly“
“Well worth the drive!! While visiting the Great Wolf Lodge in Perryville, Maryland I was in the mood for some soul food. I googled a few place by looking at the pictures, so Henry’s soul cafe in Washington DC caught my eye, Plus I was going to be in the area. Food looked good but I had to wait till I got back to my room to eat because I didn’t go to the one with a seating area, No problem though lol but I was hungry. All the sides were delicious, i got the rib plate it was good and tender. My wife got the fried pork chop plate and she loved it. So much food we was eating off each other plate.“
“I am so happy this place is still open. ❤️ I used to work in the area. Whenever time would allow, my go-to order was the "Royale": BLT with fried egg, american cheese, and hot sauce. Just a mess of a sammich....BUT SOOOO FRIKKIN GOOD!!! Their fried chicken is good, so are the mashed potatoes. I wouldn't stray away from those options, but have heard good things about the pork chops. The very best thing about this place is THE PEOPLE WHO WORK THERE!!! I could always count on service with a smile, sometimes a good joke or two.“
“This place never misses. If cornbread was a food group baby I’ll be big as a HOUSE!Food always fresh… Did I mention the CORNBREAD?!?Sweet and soft like cake just like my grandma used to make. If you’ve given up your summer body, treat yourself?“
“I visited this restaurant while here from out of town, and I happen to go on a night they were closed. I luckily saw the owner and he said he was expecting guest so he would accommodate us as an exception. The food was absolutely delicious! Service was exceptional. You can tell the owner is really into what he serves to the customers. He knows his stuff and you can tell by the end result; great food. I would highly recommend this place. Go open minded and you’ll come out happily experienced!“
“Retirement reception and will say one of the best that I have attended, great set-up, Staff was on it with drinks (refills) and replenishment of the food line. Nice atmosphere, and the food served was absolutely delicious. I tried everything, but the fried green tomatoes, just not my thing. Everything else I tried and it was all good. Chicken & waffles, mac & cheese balls, meatballs, biscuits with Blueberry jam underneath butter (Wow). I could not stop poppin the deviled eggs in my mouth. Definitely a Winner Winner Chicken Waffles Dinner !!!“
“Loved this restaurant. It's about 0.6 of mile away from the very busy main street area of Alexandria. There is plenty of street parking nearby and on side streets with a parking garage somewhere nearby too.Great place to grab brunch. Delicious food and we tried the Bellini which was good too! Would recommend!“
“Food is out of this world, great!!! I don't know how they create such great tasting food without animal products, but they do it, and they do it well. Service is "good," but would be so much better if the servers would pep-up, smile, and get excited about the fact that they are providing what so many people in the county have been looking for. Healthy food choices. Many restaurants come and go in the county, and I believe that the ones that don't make it are those that have not stressed the importance of the "customer experience" to their staff. I LOVE the food at this establishment, but if I continually feel like the staff is only tolerating me, for a check; or they're not invested in the owner's success, I know that I won't continue making the trip. The first time I came, there was a young lady who took me through all the food and offered samples. She's the kind of person that belongs out front. But in more recent experiences, some staff barely look you in the eyes, and they're speaking so low that when you ask a question, you hardly hear the answer. I STILL rate this restaurant HIGHLY!!!! Getting the staff onboard to be as excited about the customer's experience as the customer is about the food would make this establishment #1 in the Prince George's County vegan restaurant space. And possibly #1 in the DMV and beyond.“
“I ordered through grubhub & the food was soooo fresh & the container was wrapped in plastic which kept everything hot. I enjoyed the love that went into the fish being as tho I'm pescatarian. I would recommend this place for the fish“
“Found a website with all the Old Town restaurants and literally used DnD dice to fill a d100 and ended up at Hen Quarter. I'd have never come in here otherwise as I thought it was a quick service chicken place. What a wonderful surprise this turned out to be. The upstairs is beautiful and the staff is really invested. The cornbread, Caesar, 1/2 bird, and Chilean Sea Bass we got were absolutely awesome. I'd recommended checking this place out. We did spend close to $175 with tip included in that so treat this like a potential alternative to Mia's, Wharf, or Virtue closer to the water if you want to wear casual clothes and avoid the more congested area further down King.“
“I work close to YOUNG'S!! IT'S literally the best fried chicken breast I've ever had it's so good! I live in Baltimore so I've eaten from several chicken spots! But this chicken is on another level of goodness! If they were open on weekends I would drive an hour to get it that's how good it is!Parking: Enough parking“
“I come to PO Boy Jims often. Any time a family member or friend(s) visit I Take them here. The crab pasta is one of my favs! The drinks are pretty good and staff extremely friendly. Typically I dine in but I have also had delivery. I highly recommend dining in as the portion sizes are much larger than delivery. I haven’t had trouble parking. There is both street parking and a garage near by. There is a large homeless population that hangs out nearby but I haven’t been bothered by anyone.“
“Have a serious issue when the cashier doesn't wash her hands and she goes into the kitchen to start preparing food. And then on top of it I seen pies that were out and I said could I get a pie off the sheet pan The young lady would not even sell me a pie. Been coming to this location for 20 years I watch the change and hospitality and service. Management, some of your cashiers have poor hospitality and they don't have an attitude of going beyond. I asked was a manager there and the young lady wouldn't even get the manager. Disappointed in this location.“
