“I’ve been seeing this restaurant for years and we finally tried it recently. We really were missing out!! Every single item of food that we ordered was absolutely delicious. The service was wonderful and they were so kind and patient with our toddler. They have a great coloring sheet option for kids with crayons and she was distracted for big chunk of time, which was great for us. I really do love it when a restaurant thinks about their younger customers. Really appreciated that. The atmosphere is great and felt very cozy and welcoming. Not too loud, not too quiet — just right. Seating was ample and there was no wait since we were there on a weekday for dinner. We’ll definitely be back soon!“

“Stella Pointe restaurant offers a great dining experience with its combination of excellent food and stellar service. The quinoa and steak wrap exceeded expectations. The steak salad was great, with fresh ingredients and a perfect balance of flavors. The wings were a highlight, exceptionally tasty and cooked to perfection. The plating/presentation was surprisingly on point. We rounded off our meal with the indulgent funnel cake fries, a sweet and crispy treat that left us thoroughly satisfied. Throughout our visit, the staff exhibited professionalism and attentiveness, contributing to an overall positive experience. Stella Pointe truly shines with its delicious offerings and top-notch service. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a memorable casual dining experience.“

“When indecisive, go for the chefs table which includes all of the apps but also an extra tasting per course. Aside from the food which was near perfect, the ambiance is very unique outside dining in a semi enclosed courtyard, railyard bar, and dining in a lodge-like room with fireplace. Some of my favorite dishes were the veggies, surprising because I'm more of a meat eater. Cocktails were excellent but do ask the bartender since not all liquor is documented. He was attentive, descriptive and helped create a good experience. Dan, our bartender, was magnificent. He created delectable cocktails and we also chatted along the way (we had bar seats which I highly recommend). This was very reasonably priced, we left very filled and happy. “As a somewhat regular at the Tombs and having dined at a few of the many Clyde's Restaurants, I can honestly say that my expectations were nowhere near as high as to the level of quality that my friends and I enjoyed tonight at the 1789. In a word it was simply "AMAZING". The service was flawless, there were there when we needed them and mysteriously disappeared when we were set. Sometimes in fine dining the service staff can be hovering over us like Seagulls on the prowl at the Jersey Shore. We took our time to consume three courses and an enjoy a few libations. The dining room is intimate and inviting the fireplace was lit aglow, warm and comforting to sit by. The menu is adventurous but not contrived or so esoteric that we needed to google explanations so that we might navigate our choices. Presentations were elegant and simple with the emphasis on execution. Unlike so many trendy new places around DC seem to be awash in multiple concoctions that involve far too many syllables. The flavors were on point and the kitchen showed a prowess that must only come as a notice that it's all about the taste, the freshness and the seasonality that we find ourselves in. The New Bedford Seared Sea Scallops were delicious, plump and sweet. And the accompanying sauce just perfectly paired with the Scallops. The Escargot garlicky and salty. The only ever so slight misstep was with the Grilled Octopus, a wee tad rubbery possibly didn't poach long or slow enough to tenderize the tentacles before they were finished on the Grill. Our Entrees were all eagerly passed around the table and there was unanimous agreement that all four were perfect. We sampled the Lamb, the Halibut, Duck and the Wagu Short-ribs, whose taste and tenderness took me back to a similar experience 30 years ago at a small French Cafe in Newport. In my Humble opinion this entire experience was undoubtedly the finest meal I've ever been served in our Nations Capital. Reservations are almost always a must but trust me it is indeed worth the wait. Everyone got dessert because we were all part of the Clean Plate Club. Of particular note was the 1789 Pastry Chef's interpretation of Classic Carrot Cake. Reservations are highly recommended and be assured that you will leave with a delicious taste in your mouth and an overwhelming urge to plan your return to the "1789".“

“My partner and I walked in at 6:30 PM on a busy Friday night without a reservation (I didn’t realize they had started taking reservations!) The host said the only options were bar seating or outdoor seating under heat lamps. We didn’t really want either of those options, but understood that since we didn’t have a reservation, we could not be very choosy. The host then kept looking at his reservation app and offered us a very nice table as long as we could be finished by 8:30 PM. We said that two hours is plenty of time! He said he felt bad that there wasn’t room for us but we assured him this was perfect and we would definitely be finished by the time he needed the table back. He was so kind and accomodating. The rest of the staff was also excellent (as always!) and the food was outstanding. I have always loved Purple Patch and will certainly return soon. Thank you PP team for being awesome!“

“Loved dining at Nina May’s for Easter Brunch! Made the reservation quite last minute but we were still able to snag a table for two at one of D.C’s best restaurants! We were also late on our res. due to easter traffic and finding parking around the place but the host was very accommodating and nice. We got the chef’s choice and everything was amazing! Super fresh and the flavors all worked really well together. I also got the cucumber mocktail which was really good! Our server was attentive and really went the extra mile to fix a small mishap (we got to try the amazing carrot cake, on the house!!! it was splendid!!!!). Will definitely be back since they have a seasonal menuParking: Parking is quite limited as most of the streets surrounding this restaurant are restricted/limited to zone/permit holders which seems to be a theme in D.C. Be aware and plan to arrive 15-20 minutes earlier so you have time to look without getting late. Though a host did mention there is a grocery store nearby that you could park at though!“

“Update April 2024Another 5 star experience with excellent service by Caleb and his colleagues. Food was delicious with timely course delivery and lovely presentations. Constructive criticism - the sugar on the vanilla creme brulee was burned. But seriously, I still ate it and it was good.Update 3/6/2023Again, excellent greetings by host staff, only a momentary wait for a table for two (Monday night, non holiday), excellent service by Eric and his team. Food was amazing - always recommend the deviled eggs with sugared bacon, chicken with angel hair pasta with tasty mushrooms, and the bread pudding a la mode for dessert! Ambiance is filled with families. only constructive criticism to offer is that the music is slightly louder than needed - as it is difficult to hear across the table and this seems to drive the background noise from other parties even higher. Still a delightful dining experience and food and I will return.Original:Excellent service provided by Brendan for dinner. appetizer was deviled eggs with delicious candied bacon, the cheese burger was perfectly cooked and the dessert was white chocolate bread pudding a la mode!! “Today, we were incredibly fortunate to visit a unique restaurant, Monocle, located on Capitol Hill. We initially chose it due to its proximity to our hotel, but it turned out to be a true "Washingtonian gem." Opened in 1960, this restaurant has been operated by the same family ever since. The menu is concise, which we believe highlights the culinary excellence presented in merely five dishes. We were in search of "authentic American steaks from real American beef from real American cows." What we received far exceeded our expectations. Both steaks we ordered were exquisitely prepared to perfection. We both agreed that these were the best steaks we've ever had the pleasure of eating in our lives. #MasterpieceAs if the meal itself wasn't enough, our server, Marinos Apostolopoulos, provided us with a genuine journey through the history of this establishment. We are deeply grateful!Given its location near the Capitol, the restaurant has been visited by at least half of American politicians over the last 60 years, including Presidents Nixon, Kennedy, Bush, and Clinton. Celebrities like Robert De Niro and Al Pacino, among other incredible individuals, have also frequented this place. The number of VIPs and their dedications displayed in their own photos hanging on every wall is truly astonishing. One of the servers celebrated his 50th work anniversary here two months ago with a surprise party for 250 people, an event that was featured on the front page of the Washington Post, which we had the opportunity to read. The place is beautiful, with incredibly friendly service and excellent food. The wonderful experiences we had will stay with us forever. It's worth traveling for moments like these. We highly recommend it and would love to return someday.“

“My friend and I both had excellent meals, wonderful service, and just truly enjoyed the jazz Friday, which is free! And I understand they're going to be doing this now on Fridays and Saturdays! Will definitely be going back; this is my go to restaurant. “Greet food and drinks served, friends found.”“

“Persimmon has very attentive service, lots of great menu options, and a nice buzzy atmosphere that is cozy and not too loud. Our favorites were the tuna tartare and blue cheese ravioli with truffle sauce. I love that they have so many seafood options. Don't miss the sunset dining from 5-6pm M-F: 3 courses for $45!“

“Cute spot located very close to union station. Came in for dinner on a week night and the place was decently busy. The server was kind and attentive. For food, I had the lamb shawarma which was very tasty and actually the perfect amount of food, although the pita bread that came with was pretty dry. My friend got the lamb sliders which also looked pretty good!“

“I love this neighborhood gem or a bar/restaurant. Great vibes and elevated food. My only suggestion is to take the Triple H sandwich off the menu. There's no honey flavoring and for a person that loves Nashville Hot Chicken this was incredibly hot to the point of being nauseating. Unless there's some insane hot chicken eating contest this is not for regular human consumption.“

Still, the food was lovely and Katya gave some of the best service we’ve seen in a while. Our brussel sprout app came out cold and the manager Camina quickly fixed any issue and gave us a new one on the house. Awesome team and great food, we will definitely be back when the outside patio is open again!!“

“If I could give this place 100/5 I would. Went for a drink, stayed for 3 hours. Luke is the best bartender both in the drinks he makes but also helping find the right cocktail for your mood. Even gave us a few small samples of the drinks on tap to try beforehand.GET THE RHUBARB SODA it might change your life. Most of the people at the bar with us were locals and regulars. Very cute decor as well.Small spot so limited seating. If you want to go for dinner recommend getting a reservation ahead of time.If I lived here I’d have my name engraved on a stool.“
