“UPDATE: After discussion with Mid-Atlantic's owner who refunded my order and explained there is a seasonal shortage of their usual 6 oz. flounder, the substitution is from the same distributor and is a smaller 4 oz. flounder, they have not lost a long-time customer. However, I'll be ordering other things (no flounder) in the future! 😁

CUSTOMER BEWARE!!
Poor customer service gets me fired up. 🤯 Especially when you've been a loyal customer. Mid-Atlantic Seafood New Carrollton has lost a long-time customer. When you think you can attempt to pass off tilapia/sway/whiting as flounder and think the customer will not know the difference- not once, but twice- it's a problem, especially when they aren't the same price. 🤑 I now understand why folks check their orders before they leave! Sorry, but if I can't trust you to fill a cook-to-order properly, I can't trust you to eat anything you serve.”

Overall, the food was good and I'll definitely be back.
🍖 The Food
The dry suya seasoning was excellent—very flavorful and probably the best part of the meal. The meat itself was good, and the portion size was fair for the price.
The sauce was decent, but I think it could use more seasoning and definitely more heat. I like my suya with a stronger, spicier kick.
⏱ The Downside
My biggest complaint was the wait time. It took a while for what was essentially a simple $10 plate of suya. What confused me even more was that I ate it immediately after getting into the car, and it was already cold. I was expecting it to be hot and fresh considering the wait.
📝 Final Thoughts
Even with those issues, I enjoyed the food enough to come back. I'm actually planning to order a tray for an upcoming party, and I also want to try their fish and rice dishes.
For comparison, I usually go to Project Suya. I think Project Suya's sauce is a little better, but Bros J Suya is still solid.

Project Suya: 8.7/10
I still haven't found a perfect 10/10 suya spot in the DMV, but the search continues. If anyone knows a hidden gem, let me know!”

“This precious unassuming restaurant isn’t fancy, but what it does have is an abundance of customers and smiles. The entire time we were eating there was always a line. The team is super friendly and efficient so the line went super fast but just kept coming. My daughter and I had the breakfast burritos, which were full of flavor. They were fresh, the tortillas were delicious and they were a great size. We also got a side of potatoes which were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside - excitedly what you want in a crispy potato. And I can’t forget about the cheesy grits! Creamy, peppery and poppin with flavor. If you are looking for a chill place where the food is the star - you’ve found it.”

“I stopped in with friends before a event Sunday evening. The staff was warm and welcoming. I had the lentil sambusas and a peanut-infused coffee at the staff’s recommendation. The food was fast and delicious- the sambusas were warm and spicy, and the peanut coffee was delicious! In a kind gesture, the chef sent over a sampling of sushi to our table. Fresh and refreshing, the sushi was a nice complement to my sambusas and hot beverage. I’m not on this side of town often, but now I have a reason to come back.”

Wagyu beef skewers from the bar was one of the best things I’ve ever had. All the skewers were amazing and the fried chicken and other bar snacks are classic bar foods, but way elevated- can not wait for the rest of the space to open!”

“Absolutely phenomenal experience through and through. The cocktails were the star of the show! All were fantastic, but Little Hats and Fast Trains was the crowd favorite among greats. The food was genuinely excellent. We shared the entire menu and found everything to be delicious and creative. The service was outstanding as well. The space is intimate and has an informal vibe for how elevated the cocktails are which we enjoyed. Prices are beyond reasonable for the quality. Can’t wait to go back, take an Uber cause you’re gonna want an extra cocktail!”
