“We had our wedding at the Commentary on 5/31/25 and we could not be more thrilled with our experience. Olivia Martel and Chef Fran were PHENOMENAL to work with. Anything we wanted, we got. We wanted a low key, chill wedding, and decided on stations and the pasta bar with a plethora of appetizers and the execution was a 10/10. We loved having the whole bar and restaurant to ourselves in Ballston and welcoming guests from across the country and being in the Commentary’s/Westin’s care. They took really great care of us and we couldn’t be more grateful for the most beautiful day of our lives.“

“I love this place! They have a bunch of local and craft beers on tap and one of the best selections of beers for retail in the area. If there is a beer you are looking for but can’t find, as long as the county sticks it, Ashish (the fabulous, friendly owner) will order it. The store is very clean and bright, I never have trouble finding parking, and the prices are on par with other stores. In the wine side of things, there is a good variety and prices seem a little lower than other area stores.“

With Rockville/Kensington becoming younger and younger there is a lot of potential to bring in more business if they remodeled a bit and boosted the atmosphere (better music, more talkative staff, maybe some wine-special events like a “Pinot noir night” or themed around highlighting specific regions…or trivia is always safe). The place did provide me with the option for a side salad instead of fries, which was made with fresh greens and very tasty. “My husband and I decided to stay here overnight during our drive home from a beach vacation. I am covered in mosquito bites and am just miserable. I couldn’t wait to take a shower. Well let me tell you, I have NEVER taken a shower as good as the shower I just took in this hotel. It scratched every mosquito bite on my body simultaneously and felt so amazing. The provided toiletries smell like I just stepped out of a spa. The towel was fluffy but not linty. The water pressure was immaculate. The temperature was consistent and easy to set to the perfect amount of hotness. And my skin doesn’t feel like it’s been stripped of all of its moisture like it does after a shower at most hotels. I will only stay at this chain from now on if they’re all like this. I need to know how to get this at home. I’m serious. Best shower of my life.“

“I hosted a friend’s birthday party at ShipGarten and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From start to finish, the staff was absolutely amazing. They made the entire planning process easy and stress-free, with clear, quick, and efficient communication every step of the way. They were incredibly accommodating. The food was great, my favorites were the funnel cake fries and the guacamole. The Cider was delicious!!! The venue itself is fantastic for hosting events, and I highly recommend ShipGarten for birthdays, gatherings, or any special occasion. One of the things I love most is that they also host dog-friendly events, which makes the place even more special! I had an amazing time and will absolutely be using ShipGarten for future events!!!“

The Ravini Politiko, coconut cake was the best I ever ate! The Thalissina, seafood pasta had plenty of seafood in it and delicious. Even the cappaccino was delicious, very smooth, no bitterness and taste great with dessert! The server, Baris, was attentive, friendly and did a great job taking care of us. The food was absolutely outstanding—fresh, flavorful, and authentic. Every dish we tried was delicious, and you could tell it was prepared with care and attention to detail.

A special thank you to Howaah for making both visits so memorable. She was warm, welcoming, attentive, and genuinely kind. She always seemed to anticipate what we needed before we even had to ask and made sure our family was comfortable throughout our meals. Her positive attitude, professionalism, and friendly personality truly stood out and added so much to our dining experience.

Great food and exceptional service are hard to find, but Satay Club delivered both. We left feeling like valued guests and look forward to returning again soon. Highly recommended!“

“Every thing we had was so delicious. We started with genmaicha tea as it was a chilly day and then ordered appetizers.
The
tea was perfectly roasted and cozy. We had the rock shrimp and fried sweet potato- lightly fried and full of flavor. Next I had the salmon teriyaki and friend has Ramen. Also delicious, no complaints. The true winner was our waiter. He was so welcoming, accommodating, funny and kind. Will be back very soon.“
