The server's are always knowledgeable and prompt. My lady gala cocktail is my favorite. We love the dumplings and spring rolls and always share those. Looking forward to our next meal at Franny's never disappoints.”

Winona's 31 Elm St, Camden American • $$$

“Feel free to read the full review below, but If you’re terse, the scoop is that Winona’s is quaint, exceptionally unique in its excellence, and is a must stop.

While on a waitlist at a bustling nearby establishment, my wife and I decided to take a walk. Our goal: a quick snack and beverage while we wait for our spot at the bar.

A few steps away from our original plan, we walked past Winona’s, an unassuming but inviting front, and put our eyes on the menu posted in the window. It was compact, but refreshingly uncomplicated and clear. When our attention drifted from the menu through the glass into the interior, we caught the attention of an older couple who emphatically waved us in with thumbs up and smiles. How could we not stop in..

We were greeted with nothing short of exceptional hospitality, and found a spot at one of their limited tables by the windows. We mentioned we were just in for a quick drink and snack, and the response was nothing short of miraculous. We felt we received the same service and hospitality as if we were the most important guests of the night(which I assure you, we were not).

My wife and I were traveling from Montana, and I begrudgingly consider ourselves “foodies,” but we admittedly each know our way around a kitchen and bar. She got a glass of white, and I got a beet root beer, I think “Helleflower”. Great.

We ordered what I can only remember was titled “Scallop Crudo”. As i’m writing this review from memory a month after my visit. Which, if anything, should attest to how compelled I was to write this, and how great my experience was..

The dish was fresh. The scallops sliced thin, sitting in a perfect acidic Leche De Tigre, with sweet cut apple, tobiko, and bitter greens. I likely missed a few small details..My point is that our “snack” was rich, balanced, light, filling, refreshing, and unique. My only regret? Leaving this place for a nearby establishment.

I told the proprietors they should be proud of what they built and are putting out into the word. I meant it.

“I honestly can't understand why this gem isn't getting more attention. We have eaten there three times, and each time, the food has been out of this world. It's shocking that such a small, unassuming place knocks it out of the park in terms of bread (every single bread on the menu is FANTASTIC--last time we went, our table got one of each!), entrees, drinks AND baked desserts. If you want a stellar meal in a low-key atmosphere, you must go to Albatross. I sort of don't want the secret to get out, because I want to always be able to get a table, but this place should be packed every day.”

There is no room to even wait for the bagels. IF you decide to sit down you end up being crowded by the line waiting to order. Parking was easier at the previous location as well. Please move somewhere better! 🥰”

“I loved this restaurant so much that I ate here 2 of my 4 nights in Camden. They have such a wonderful menu that changes often. I ate outside each of my 2 times. They have a global menu that was very appealing including dishes from Brazil and Africa. The Spitzers were very refreshing. On my first visit I had the Marcequa (spelling) which was basically a stew with Haddock, shrimp and mussels in a coconut lime broth with jasmine rice and tomatoes. I loved it so much I went back another night. The whole menu looks great. The service was excellent. The only issue that I had was that my dish was priced on the menu as $35 but rang up as $38. When I pointed it out, they said that the menu changes (but the price??) and he didn’t offer to get the manager or anything. It still was great and if ever in the area, I’d go back!!
Things to note- Prices vary between menu and receipt. Bread and butter costs $4. The spritzers and the food are excellent!! Service very attentive!”

“Food typical subway. Staff helpful and respectful. But we were not sure how to get my elderly mother up the steep from steps. She was determined and we did help her up with some trepidation, only to find out that around the back door is a place to walk out with a ramp. But this safer place wasn’t at first obvious to us as an option. I don’t believe there was a sign directing handicapped persons into another entrance that wasn’t seen from the main entrance. In the end we drove around back to pick her up. But if we hadn’t seen someone go out that back door mom planned to try to go back down the steep stairs. I had to stop her

In retrospect when we didn’t see a safe way inside we should’ve left and not attempted fate. Fortunately no one was injured. They need to find a better location or make it more obvious a safer place to enter and exit. It’s a huge risk and liability for Subway.”

“The fried haddock sandwich we had here may have been the best meal we had in Maine, and that's saying a lot because we had a lot of fantastic seafood while in Maine. If you're thinking this sandwich is anything like any other fried fish sandwich you've had, you would be wrong. It's impossible to overstate how wonderful it was. And the views from our table on the deck? Some of the best anywhere! The only negative part of the experience was the very long wait. We didn't get there until almost 2 pm and still had to wait 45 minutes on a table. Then, the amount of time it took for our food to come out was also quite long. This lunch took up more of our afternoon than we had planned, which was unfortunate because we were only in Camden for a day. Nonetheless, it was still a highly memorable meal, and I would definitely go back again the next time we're in Maine.”

“We had a harbor cruise scheduled and arrived early to beat the traffic. On our way to the harbor we passed this deli and looked in. Saw the baked goods and that was it. I'm pretty particular to the calories I consume, but couldn't resist the peanut butter cup brownie and coffee latte - both of which I've never had. YUM! We sat inside to watch the water for nearly an hour. After the tour and walking the town we were nearly to our car and decided to go back for a sandwich to take home for dinner. Best retracing of steps ever! The sandwich was very tasty and there was enough for a second dinner the next night.”
