“Ruth and Wimpy's in Hancock, Maine, is an absolute Downeast treasure. This charming eatery exudes a laid-back, authentic Maine vibe that's as inviting as your cousins' home. It's a place where you'll feel right at ease, and the hearty portions of delicious food only add to the warm, welcoming atmosphere. When you step inside Ruth and Wimpy's, you're not walking into a flashy restaurant; it's more like entering the cozy home of your long-lost relatives. The Downeast essence is palpable in every nook and cranny, from the decor to the friendly faces of the staff. The food at Ruth and Wimpy's is not only mouthwatering but served in generous portions. It's comfort food that warms the heart and fills the belly, just like a family gathering. The service is as friendly as a conversation with a close friend, and it's clear that they genuinely want you to enjoy your meal. The prices are incredibly reasonable, making it accessible to all. Yes, there might be a bit of a wait, but it's absolutely worth it. Ruth and Wimpy's is not just a restaurant; it's an experience that embodies the true spirit of Downeast Maine. If you're in the area, don't miss the chance to be welcomed with open arms and fantastic food at this hidden gem.“
“Thanks Mike and Andre (and the other unnamed employees) We were in Bar Harbor for 3 nights: we ate dinner here twice and one lunch. We tried the whole fried clams: fantastic! Lobster, fried haddock, lobster, lobster stew and local beers. Super value and super fresh. All the employees were smiling and helpful. I highly recommend this place!!!!“
“I'm not sure why this restaurant has gotten such average reviews. We went there for our anniversary dinner and the food was excellent. I had duck confit and it was amazing. We shared the whipped blueberry cheesecake and plan to go back again just for that. Highly recommend.“
“We got the whole lobster, corn, cup of clam chowder, and a slice of blueberry pie for $52. It was delicious. The atmosphere of the place was fun and lively. Our waiter was very nice. I would definitely eat here again. A reservation is a must I think.“
“Lots of bees today. This is their season. Good coffee. Way too much food. Serving eggs Benedict on very thick biscuits was too much food. The potatoes were mostly onions. But I like my annual visit. Next time coffee and biscuits and jelly will do me!“
“Absolutely fantastic restaurant in the Bar Harbor area. Excellent lobster rolls. My preference is the "cold one". The clam chowder is the best that I've eaten. Really, really good. And the top it off, the wait staff and management were great to us.“
“Their lobster is delicious and tender (even without the crack butter which is never the case for Philly area lobster), if need be for those with family members that can't eat shellfish or avoid seafood they have traditional cuisine like burgers made to your liking, chicken tenders and salads...veggie burgers too for that family member you weren't able to leave home no matter how hard you tried. If your waiter/waitress isn't sure what you mean when asking for garlic butter (common with uncultured seafood eaters like myself from the Philly area) then ask for the "crack butter", they'll know what you mean. Thank you to our waitress for her hospitality, the owners for the great family dining, special thanks to the husband for the fresh caught lobster.“
“Nice place most times nice customers as in all places theirs the few undesirables but nice workers overall and convenient access to tables scrumptious crab rolls and burgers are handmade unlike other places from the freezer to the grill overall nice place“
