“This is the best Chinese food. I'm very picky but I LOVE their Honey Chicken and my favorite is the Beef, Chicken, and Shrimp with Broccoli in Garlic Sauce. I adore the family that owns and operates it who recognized me even when I hadn't been there in a while (I don't live nearby so can only get it if I'm in GR). I can't recommend them enough and would give them a sixth star if I could.“

“We ordered 2 family meals to go, which included 6 entrees and 4 sides. The order was done on time, pickup was easy, and the food was delicious. We fed about 12 adults, and everyone was very satisfied and couldn't stop talking about how good everything was. We will definitely be ordering again in the near future.“

When she arrived, we got our beverages and were given plenty of time to visit and catch up without pressure until we were ready. She had her favorite, the Orange Chicken, and I had the new Korean Chicken and both were excellent. Julia's service was exemplary making our entire experience perfect.“

“They are a little bit expensive I will say but you do get a lot of food for the price you pay, also the food is enough for two people and even have some left overs. First time trying them out and definitely was not disappointed at all. Very friendly, customer service was great and the lady who took our order was really sweet. Didn't take long at all for us to get our food, there are fast and prompt. Everything we ordered was all correct didn't have any issues. We will definitely be back again to try out some other menu items..Thanks again“

Don’t eat at the restaurant. Covid changed this restaurant to a to-go restaurant, probably for the better. They don’t care about the dining room anymore, and neither should you. Grab your meal and skidaddle. 3. The world is more expensive, stop listening to these people complaining. A single McDonald’s hash brown is $2.50, and one order of something here is enough for two meals. The price is the price. 4. Pay with cash, the lady at the front will love you for it.“

This can be determined by each person when they visit because when you walk in you can clearly see the kitchen! It’s wide open and you can see all the way to the back it is always clean swept. They are very very friendly, they speak broken English so if you call that rude then you don’t go there you don’t belong in a Resturant if you’re not patient ! They give u so much food when you order whatever my favorites are the orange chicken combination, or beef or pork lomein, sweet and sour chicken combination, beef and broccoli comb, Mongolian beef combo, these are some of our favorites but try whatever and I promise you will not be disappointed. Yes the prices have increased because of the inflation of everything going up of course but they didn't go up that much like 2-3 bucks more. But for all the food you get it's definitely worth it. Hell I even have food left over for the next day. Definitely give them a try you won't be disappointed. The family that owns the place are really super sweet, very good folks.“

“I decided to order food here because I saw that their lunch menu was very affordable and I’m a broke college student working downtown for the summer. I got the beef and broccoli order with the side of chicken fried rice- I just took my first bite and it’s wonderful! The flavor is awesome in the rice, beef and vegetables and my order came with an AWESOME amount of food as well! It was ready for me to pick up only 15 minutes after I called to order.

Look at the picture I’ve provided, I got all of this for a little less than $12! I will absolutely be coming again and getting my lunches from the Hong Kong Express! :)“

“I’ve only ever gotten take out from here, but, it’s the best vegan Thai food/food category adjacent take out I have had in Michigan. So many people praise Bangkok Thai downtown GR but they never fully season their vegan dishes and this place actually does, they don’t skimp of flavor and texture even with the plant based substitutes. I 10/10 recommend.“

“Grand Lakes Chinese, thank you so much. I love the beef lo mein. Im a teacher and whenever I have a bad day, I get Chinese food. I used to go to other places in GR and they were fine, but Grand Lakes Chinese takes the cake. I know the moment I take a bite of the beef lo mein my day will get 100% better. “The employees are very friendly and I’ve never eaten an item off the menu I didn’t love! They do lunch discounts and combos too. The food isn’t greasy like other places I’ve been and there’s always quick service - though I’m not a fan that they pick their own hours to work as any time I call when their website says they’re open, no one is there. After 12:30p seems to be the best time. I placed a take away order and had to call back as I realized I left my car keys in a friend’s car. She kindly said she’d hold my order. Nearly an hour later when I finally got my keys, Wendy had told me she cooked what would save but didn’t want to make the rest until I got there so it wouldn’t be cold. I appreciated her so much.“

But I've ordered Chinese food from restaurants that cost twice as much, and tasted the same or worse. I was bummed that China Garden didn't have teriyaki chicken. But their BBQ chicken (I just like saying "chicken on a stick") is so crispy in a good way, that I want all my "chicken on a stick" to be like theirs! Even though the place was fairly full, the atmosphere was calm and not too loud. We had a both and it felt private even though it wasn't. Service is precise and swift.“
