About Ladder 4 Wine Bar

Ladder 4 Wine Bar, located in Detroit, offers a cozy atmosphere with intimate booths and a lively ambiance. The restaurant, set in a former firehouse, features a friendly staff that is knowledgeable about the menu. The food selection is relatively small but diverse, including dishes such as sourdough bread, oysters, venison tartare, and cappelini. Recent reviews highlight the excellent wine selection, with a sommelier making perfect recommendations, and praise the staff for being attentive and well-timed. Customers have enjoyed dishes like the salmon kabob, white bean and arugula, and endives with duck, finding the food fantastic and well paired with the wines. The open space of the restaurant is surprisingly suitable for quiet meals and easy conversations. While some dishes like sourdough bread and oysters received mixed reviews, venison tartare was praised for its flavor and texture, and the mille feuille was noted for melting in the mouth. The wine menu offers options from lesser-known regions, though some reviewers suggested that full-bodied reds could be improved. Parking remains a challenge, as street parking is limited. Despite these minor issues, Ladder 4 Wine Bar is highly recommended for its quality dishes, extensive wine selection, and inviting atmosphere, making it a great spot for a date night or a weekend treat.

Don’t skip dessert! Incredible

Had a great dinner here. Gem lettuce salad, damn good. Short rib tartare, delish. Braised beans, hell yes. Highly recommend. The service was also exceptional.

Excellent food. Just so impressed! We came in on a Sunday evening with a 3 and 1 year old and sat outside on the back patio. We got the Sunday roast special that came with a fois gras appetizer, whole chicken (different from the menu chicken), and an olive oil cake. In addition to that since we had 5 people and 2 little ones, we also got the sourdough bread and the croquetas de jamon. Every single food item was DELICIOUS. The croquetas were so unique and less heavy than normal...read full review
