“Was here in early December. My boy "House" (sorry don't remember your actual name. Rick maybe?) Hooked me up. Nice conversation about Milwaukee area. Friendly guy and coffee was great. Ask him for the recommendations for Milwaukee for me. I cannot remember what he said.“
“Went through the drive through today while traveling to Kalamazoo around 2:55 and the girl at the payment window was an absolute GEM!!! I didnt get her name sadly, however, she was so kind, my aunt, who I was on the phone with, said “ where are you? That’s the best customer service I’ve ever heard!” And it truly was! She smiled, asked me about my day and was just so kind! Thank you you beautiful Angel! I will always remember you because of your kindness! THANK YOU“
“Love this sweet book store. Great selection of books for readers of all ages and genres. Staff will help you find what you’re looking for, and if they don’t have it, they will order it for you, or you can easily order online from their website and go pick it up when it arrives. Cafe has a variety of beverages ranging from coffees to flights of wine to cocktails to unwind. There are also snacks, baked goods and heavier fare if you are more than a little hungry. They have events during the week, they change it up quite a bit. Plenty of seating to catch up with a friend, do a little studying, or just buy a book and get lost in it. A lovely addition to the area, really glad it’s here.“
“This is a good spot; it's nicer than you might assume due to its location in the strip mall. It's a little small. If it weren't for the overflow seating area next door, the space would be pretty limited, so I'm grateful for the extra room! It seems that it might be temporary. I'd imagine that when new tenants move in, that area will go away.“
“I was helped by a blonde cashier, who was super friendly, and greeted me with an enthusiastic. Happy Monday! The service was wonderful. I ordered a mango smoothie, there was a miscommunication about having the cream on top, and they were so helpful in getting me a new one. It may have been my fault because my hearing is not the best. Regardless, they were very friendly and accommodating. My mother who used to have her own bakery, and is now retired, is quite a baked goods snob. In a good way. She loved the three different desserts I had her try. She usually doesn't like anyone's baked goods, but her own, but I could tell she absolutely loved the crêpe cake, the strawberry shortcake cup, and the dark chocolate cheesecake. The baked goods were so good, I went back later this evening, to get a mango slush, made with real fruit, and two other baked goods.“
“Absolute best Cortado I’ve ever had!!!!!! It’s the same delicious and perfect blend and flavor every single time!!! If you have a developed palette for good coffee, this is the best place to go in Lansing! Also best black brewed coffee! And, it’s not just the best because we’re in Lansing. I’ve traveled all the US to big cities, and Strange Matter would hold its own in any of those cities as well! Thanks friends for your dedication to the craft and sharing it with us! ?“
“My go-to breakfast place whenever I’m having a bad day. Every employee that I’ve encountered has been super nice and friendly. Their loyalty program is also really convenient (and rewarding)Dietary restrictions: Super customizable menu items“
“I’ve been a long time regular at downtown and have nothing but high praises for it. The baristas consistently improve my mood with their friendly demeanor and witty jokes! Liv, Zac, Jac, & the rest of the baristas always treat me like one of their own and always make me feel welcome. I look forward to getting food and coffee from here almost every very day I can afford to. The shop’s atmosphere matches the aesthetic of downtown to a t and I’m happy that this is the premier craft coffee spot in the area. Despite the greater Lansing area being hostile to LGBT people, it’s nice to have a little sanctuary where we all feel safe. I love the cortados and dirty chais that I get. Academic studies claim that 3rd spaces are dying and strange matter is a large exception to that notion. From a study spot that isn’t my apartment to a place to meet friends and family, strange matter consistently fills a need in my life for a reliable 3rd space. I’ve worked in coffee in the past and the staff’s passion for what they do clearly shows. Best damn coffee shop in all of Lansing.“
“Killer milk teas and desserts! Staff is very cordial and friendly. This is a popular place, and for good reason! Haven't had a bad drink or dessert yet! Definitely worth the trip. 10/10 will visit again.Dietary restrictions: Plenty of options for those who can't handle milk (lactose intolerant). Absolutely delightful soy milk creme cake.“
“What an amazing hidden gem full of DELICIOUS healthy foods and drinks. Today was my first visit and already I’m phoning friends trying to make dates to go back and grab a bite to eat! I had the pleasure of trying today; coconut bowl, PB/banana cinnamon oatmeal bowl (all gluten free), pumpkin spiced latte (with real pumpkin!), and the Mexican mule coffee, 10/10 yummmm, every single item. So so good and reasonably priced.“
“We've tried many tea places in East Lansing, but this is our favorite! The tea tastes so much better than other places, and they offer a good variety of products and flavors on the menu. Everyone is kind also and I have yet to have a bad experience there. Definitely my first choice for milk tea or boba in East Lansing.“
“I absolutely love this coffee place. I live in Grand Ledge and this is THE spot for me to get away to read, study, or simply hang with friends. The coffee is Great and the folks who work here, Michaela, Makayla, Keagen, Michael, and (Natalie, i think is the other one), is VERY hospitable and genuine. They greet us as we come in and wish us well as we leave❤️“
“I love this coffee shop! I was bummed when the Biggby in this location closed because I love the atmosphere. However I’m not a fan of Biggby- so when the Hob Nob opened, I was so excited. Their drinks are so good, not overly sugary like Biggby. And everyone that works there is so nice and friendly. I only wish they were open on the weekends so I could spend more time there.“
“I have visited both East Lansing and Williamston locations and both of these donut shops have the cutest atmosphere! Those who work at the counters are always very sweet, enthusiastic and helpful with their jobs. The donuts are innovative, flavorful and delicious as well! I will always recommend this donut shop and hope to see them expand more arpund Michigan!Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options“
“I always try to stop in here when I am in the West Lansing area. The atmosphere is always calm and peaceful, the staff always go out of their way to make you feel comfortable, and best of all the furniture is very, very comfortable! I tell everyone about them!“
“This is the best Starbucks I’ve been to, the staff is amazing and friendly and the management makes an effort to make you feel at home when you are here.Parking: Easy accessKid-friendliness: From little kids to high schoolers this is a great family spot“
“Stopped by on a Saturday morning for the first time. The restaurant was busy but not full yet. The menu is the perfect size for the staff to be able to produce an amazing product. As the food comes out, you will notice that every plate is photo worthy. I was thrilled that my Bongo omelet looked as great as it tasted. The table behind me had ordered the Huevos Rancheros, and I will be back soon to order it for myself. I also need to try the corned beef after noticing it go by. If you are looking for a wonderful way to start your day, please stop by.“
“I had a simple latte which was well made with just the right amount of frothiness. The baristas were attentive and laid back, enjoyed the quiet friendliness. The venue was in East Lansing across from Jolly Pumpkin--liked the vibe there. I've yet to visit the Trowbridge location.“
“Whoa, Drew just made me a surprisingly amazing decaf peppermint latte. One of the best I’ve had in quite a long time. Feeling so grateful right now. He was also extremely welcoming and entertaining as we sat at the bar for a bit.Dietary restrictions: Welcoming to food sensitivities“
“Love this place! Excellent bubble tea/boba. I come here all the time, and every Saturday with my family. The food is only 4 stars because sometimes it makes me feel sick but it ALWAYS tastes good ?Vegetarian options: No vegetarian FOOD but plenty of vegetarian friendly tea and drinksDietary restrictions: Great for lactose intolerant people!Kid-friendliness: Mostly kid friendly“
“Love this place :)I live nearby, and come in when I need to get work done. It could be considered loud, but the smells of coffee, the music, and the consistent bustle of people around you is the perfect recipe for people who like working in public spaces. One wall is all windows and I love the natural light that floods the whole shop.In the years I’ve been coming here, I’ve never met an unpleasant employee. Quite the opposite ! In fact, not long ago I ordered my usual iced Earl Grey latte, but it was a little weak, so I asked the workers if they had steeped the tea enough. It turned out that their coffee machine’s hot water was not heating up enough, so they quickly brought out their kettle to make my tea instead. Since then, I’ve had a perfect latte every time ! It was that extra effort that makes this place so special, especially since coffee shop baristas aren’t always well acquainted with the science of making tea. Love them. Love it <3My one gripe is that the baked goods tend to be a bit too sweet. But whatevs. Maybe im just an old geezer.“
“It's Dunkin' donuts you know what you're getting before you arrive. Play every once in a while I need to have a unhealthy sugary donut. Your body will regret it later but it does taste good. Been awhile since I've went to one I didn't realize how expensive donuts had become.“
“I went here for the first time today and was blown away. To start, the staff was so friendly (shoutout Lesley and Chloe). Since it was my first time, they gave me suggestions based of my dietary restrictions (vegetarian) and my taste of coffee (sweeter). I got the Greek wrap without the chicken and added avocado based on Lesley's recommendation. It tasted great. Chloe suggested the Smores latte and it was exactly what I wanted. I sat in the Cafe for some time on my laptop (they offer wifi :)) and Chloe and Lesley were so friendly. They also had multiple regulars come in during this time and they remembered their orders; they clearly had built relationships with these customers.“
“I grew up in Lansing I live in Florida now every time I come home to visit I gotta get me some Sparty’s Coney Island. What’s my favorite well the chili cheese burger and chili cheese fries would be my favorite. The olive burger is fire as well I mean you really can’t go wrong I mean Really everything they make is fantastic you can go to any other Coney Island in the country and it doesn’t get better than Spartys trust me.“
“Fantastic staff, drinks are always right for me, and they take MSU Student Cash. I would highly recommend this Starbucks to MSU students but would advise going at rush hour times because the line gets insanely long. Love the location and the staff is very friendly.“
“I love this place! Took my friend for a surprise to remind her of her trip to Paris. We each chose a savory croissant and a dessert pastry. She knew she wanted a latte, but I don't know a latte from a café au lait from a cappuccino, but the barista took the time to help me choose a latte, and it was perfect. Our pastries were delicious and our table in the window was a perfect place to enjoy our brunch and catch up with each other.Parking: We had an excellent parking spot right outside the door.“
“My wife and I often stop on weekends before our grandkid’s hockey games up the road off Hannah. It can be very busy or totally dead in here but the staff is usually quick to get our coffee/chai tea orders prepared. No drive through option here but parking is usually available right out front. Just need to be careful backing out.Parking: Parking spots are a bit tight especially in snowy weather.“
“Went in on Sunday and it was my birthday so I tried to get my freebie that was emailed to me and the manager that was working on 06-25-23 till closing was being very rude to me and my stepmom then put toward a effort to have us call the help line that was already closed so it would have been no help to us.“
