“GB’s is my #1 spot for vegan options. They also offer gluten free dough—and they’ve done a fabulous job recreating it people like me who have issues consuming gluten. The environment is laid back, easy & chill. And the view is spectacular on Michigan Ave. Grabbing a seat at the bar—no problem! You’ll be dazzled by the large selection of craft cocktails—that’s a view in it self! It tends to get crowded quick, so calling ahead or beating the crown is suggested but it’s sooo worth it. What a wonderful way to kick off the new year with a great event! It was my first time trying Polish cuisine, and I loved every bite. Every dish was made from scratch and full of authentic flavors — truly a treat.

The restaurant itself is beautiful — the long mural, the decorations, everything has a charming, native touch that makes the space feel special. The upstairs area was a lot of fun, and the Polish vodka and DJ music added a lively, festive touch to the atmosphere.

I decided to skip cooking this year, and I’m so glad I did. I discovered Veganly Essential with Vegan Chef Kameal Paree' by a random vegan restaurant Google search, and ordered her Party of 1 Thanksgiving Meal — and wow, it did not disappoint!

The meal came with crispy oyster mushrooms, smoked greens, sweet potatoes, creamy vegan dressing, vegan mac, a cornbread muffin, cranberry sauce, gravy, barbecue sauce…plus a slice of vegan sweet potato pie and lavender lemonade. It was honestly enough to share, and everything tasted amazing.

My absolute favorite? Those crispy oyster mushrooms! They were perfectly seasoned and truly crispy.

“The restaurant is a little smaller with a more intimate feel. We sat at a small high top table next to the bar and we couldn’t have asked for better service. Throughout the night, at least 6 different servers took care of us (sitting next to the bar, we were taken care of by the bartenders.) The food and drinks were amazing and the service was top notch. My boyfriend had the peach cocktail and then an old fashion with honey cinnamon syrup and I had the mule which all of the drinks were absolutely delicious. We both had the Steak frites which was cooked to perfection and the fries I just couldn’t get enough of. For dessert, we took home the banana pie dessert and the Dubai chocolate cheesecake special and let me just say, oh my goodness. Neither of us knew which one we liked better.
