“This lil cozy place is a hidden gem in Southgate! We were recommended by our Ameriprise planner (thank you Shawn) down the road and this is my first time dining here. The food was fantastic with the Lobster Ravioli the best we both have ever had. I see others have commented on the food, so I will focus on the LOVELY staff... from the initial greeting to our fabulous server, Heather. We estimate that we have ordered from Alex Kabob around 50 times. Expect to wait 15-20 minutes to pick up because of the demand.“

“Staff was extremely friendly and courteous. Our waiter Giorgio was charming and worked hard to make our evening perfect. Upon discovering a tiny mistake in my order, he immediately brought me a new plate (although I had not complained—the first plate was yummy). The dish I actually ordered was so delicious, but of course now I had too much food, but they expected me to take both pastas home, providing containers before I thought to ask. Then a complimentary tiramisu on top of that! We felt very well taken care of. We squeezed in to the last two available seats at the bar today (Fish fry Friday) and ordered the walleye and the perch. The wait for it was a little long but holy moly, well worth the wait! The owner was in constant motion at the fryers working his butt off as were the wait staff and bartenders too. I’ve had fish all over the downriver area and this place was the best! I’m from Irish Hills where they have good fish too, but I’m telling you, try the fish at Franks! Outstanding!“

“I had breakfast at Nanas kitchen this morning. After eating, talking with company I noticed the cook wasn't wearing gloves while handling the food. He handled bacon, wiped his hands on his apron, proceeded to grab his phone and coffee and talking to customers. Not washing hands before returning to handling food. Another cook also started, no gloves, while grabbing bacon, pile of hash browns with 2 hands, in-between grabbing the trashcan from under the counter. The service and food was good but seeing the above grossed me out. Waitress was told but, said she would say something but I continued watching the cook handling food with no gloves until we left.“

“Cameron came to our table and sat down to go over the specials with us. He was extremely friendly, knowledgeable about the entire menu. When he mentioned the lemon rice soup I told him that was my favorite and he brought us a complimentary cup for each of us to try. As you can tell by the pictures it was absolutely wonderful. I do like mine a little more soupy but the flavor was off the charts. We ordered omelettes which were absolutely delicious and we also ordered the Club Sandwich. I did ask to have my hash browns extra extra well done, they were not and that would be my only complaint. Otherwise the whole experience was wonderful. I would give this restaurant a 9 out of 10 and we would most definitely come back to try other things on the menu. The entire staff appears to be very friendly and welcoming. This place I would definitely recommend.“

Of the options the flour tortilla beef birria seemed to be the best fit. I ordered those, a side of beans and, a side of consomme. Was amazing. Just on the edge of what I can tolerate heat wise (I am a wimp). Great taste. I used the consomme to make birria ramen for a later meal. (Just beef ramen, 2 sticks string cheese, and the consomme). It was also great, very satisfying.“
