“Charming. An old school Italian restaurant in a charming part of Grosse Pointe Park. A family friendly restaurant without being adult unfriendly ?. I went with a classic lasagna and it tasted like I was a “made man” in the Corleone family or something. Heaven! Atmosphere was classy without being stuffy. Midweek dinner and not much of a crowd so we were seated right away. I think my favorite part was tomato sauce that was used in the lasagna.“

“This is one of my favorite places to eat when I go downtown. The food is excellent and I love the atmosphere. The outdoor dining option is small, but very nice. It's on Library Street so there is not a ton of traffic. Parking in the Z Garage right around the corner is convenient and you can scan a QR code in the restaurant lobby to get your parking validated.“

“We have long been loyal Cook Shop customers and I am writing this review as we recently ordered a take-out catered dinner for ten people and it was outstanding from start to finish!

The entire process was smooth — from placing the order and the excellent recommendations to the thoughtful packaging that made serving at home so easy.

Every dish was fresh, flavourful, and hot as if we were eating at their charming and intimate restaurant. Our guests could not stop raving about the quality and generous portions, from their signature caesar salad to the Orechetti a La Sausice with rapini. We also served Chicken Lemonata paired with mushrooms and it was perfection on a plate. Their tiramisu served as an outstanding finish to an already exceptional meal. My guests were asking the ingredients in every dish as the flavours were spectacular.

The staff was friendly, professional, and went above and beyond to accommodate our requests. It is evident they take great pride in both their culinary quality and customer service.

It had not crossed our minds to use this incredible restaurant for catering, and we are so glad we did. For me, The Cook Shop delivers a dining experience worthy of Michelin Star recognition. “Ordered pizza for pickup while staying across the street at Holiday Inn Express. Although the toppings were plentiful and delicious, the crust was undercooked & a little doughy! Plus, it was on a sheet of parchment/wax paper that was completely stuck to the crust & impossible to peel off! Unfortunately, these 2 details turned what should have been an enjoyable night into a messy and frustrating experience!“

The plates were so pretty to look at and even better to taste. So much love went into each plate! The Gorgonzola gnocchi melted in your mouth. “This food is hands-down, some of the Best Italian food in the metro Detroit region. I had to write this review directly after eating this food because it was so good. It’s a little bit on the pricey side, but believe me you get what you pay for. I ordered the shrimp scampi, and it had a lot of shrimp on it. I was completely stuffed by the end of my meal.“

“I’m going to call this a hidden gem because “The Hill” is kind of a sleepy business district if I’m being honest. Cafe Nini is also on the opposite side of the street from the majority of the restaurants The Hill has to offer.

Make no mistake, this cozy little Italian restaurant is one of the better restaurants on The Hill. The wife and I went for our regular date night and were definitely not let down.

I had the fruitti di mare and the wife had fettuccini alla carbonara. Both were excellent. Can’t wait to go back and try something different.

“Oh MAN Rocco's is the place I have searched for in vain until last year when I tried them for the first time. Since that first meatball sub I have had almost every sandwich on the menu and so far not one has disappointed! Today I had the Corner Deli and was transported to Italian paradiso! In case you non-Italians did not know, ciabatta is the Italian baguette and Rocco's bakes many fresh loaves several times per day! Usually it is still warm from the oven even if you get a cold sandwich! There is no better sandwich bread in my progenic-Italian opinion! They are in Midtown on Cass just East of Mack. Try them if you have yet to do so. You will thank the gods!“
