“This is a family owned resturant in Highland Park. The food is fresh and made to order. The service is welcoming and feeling your being serviced by a member of your family. There is no indoor seating but when the weather is nice the small outdoor seating space is very nice. Highly Recommend. 😀“

The atmosphere inside the restaurant was warm, friendly, and fun, making it the kind of place where you immediately feel comfortable and welcome. “The price of the bill vs the food taste didn’t add up. The food wasn’t seasoned, the Mac and cheese was meh, and the yams and greens tasted like something you’d find pre maid. The fried chicken had zero seasonings on it. The only thing good was the fried fish. Service was great and the atmosphere was good as well. But I wouldn’t go here again.“

“Best soul food Downriver! We usually just get their wings, macaroni, and greens. So good. Customer service is great as well. I've ordered from them multiple times and never had a problem. The only thing I hate is their inconsistent and tough hours, but I understand it's probably a small business thing they have to deal with.“

You have an occasion coming up where you will need or want a pan of macaroni and cheese...like today...because it's today and you will want a pan of macaroni and cheese. My family had turkey chops and chicken wings, yams, green beans, greens and cornbread and everything was good but when I tell you that mac and cheese is some of the best I've EVER had, including my own, which slaps, I mean it. The lady taking orders was friendly, the dining room was clean, maybe too clean? Cleaning products were left out in full view and maybe that's not the ambience you want while dining in but that mac and cheese tho...I will sit next to a vat of bleach and Fabuloso if it meant having more. Go. Order it. Order other stuff too. I think you'll be pleased.

“I went to Velle's Grille yesterday for dinner in the hope of supporting a black owned business. I have no regrets. I had the Turkey Chops with Mac & cheese, collard greens and a side of yams. Good portion sizes. Everything was hot and seasoned perfectly. My meal was delicious. My husband had chicken wings with baked beans and macaroni. He also ordered a burger. He says the burger was delicious and the sides were on point. He woke up and ate the chicken for breakfast and he says we gotta go back lol. Overall we are definitely giving this place another chance.“

I stayed to make sure nothing happened.And now is constantly harassing them and won't leave them alone. Then called her husband and had him come up later that day to harass the owner, And her employees. Now i'm on facebook and watching this lady, Her husband, And her friend harass this business owner. yes It is very important to say that her husband kept repeating he owns his own business. so I am guessing they are doing this because he needs more business? trying to put her out of business so he can get her customers? I was there and this owner should not have to deal with the harassment from them. sorry you have to. keep doing you and all your customers that know you will keep coming back. I know I will.“

“Detroit soul is possibly the best meal from start to finish I've had in years. Walking in you notice how delicious everything smells, how clean everything is and how friendly everyone who works here is. The food is top notch. The breadding on the catfish fritters made my mouth water, the greens made me want to write home, the mac and cheese was perfectly cooked and the meatloaf was so tender and tasty. Then the dessert! Peach cobbler that made me make obscene noises, the creamy vanilla scoop and the amazing red pop sorbet were bursting with flavorful perfection. I highly recommend going here and trying everything.“

“I was referred over to this place by a friend as we were discussing good bbq. I’m originally from the Midwest but spent my formative years in the Deep South. And hadn’t had great bbq in a while. Came this way to taste their so called amazing Beef Ribs but when I got here they were sold out so I settled for what I found out to be one the BEST DAMN CATFISH SANDWICHES I HAVE EVER HAD!!! (Yeah I know it wasn’t the bbq we had talked about). So I decided to come back because of the dang catfish sandwich. MAN I AM SO DAMN GLAD I DID!!!! Their BEEF RIBS AND RIB TIPS ARE FREAKING DELICIOUS!!!! A very friendly, clean well run environment. Every time I am in town I stop in here and it’s a hike because I stay in the Canton, MI area when I’m in town. Can’t say enough good things about BBQ Central. Everyone needs to try this spot. He recently stopped chicken and will only eat turkey. ive made so many turkey dishes the last few months since him stopping chicken and i know hes getting bored. We decided to give Gingerberry a chance since we only had it once years ago. OMG! soooooo delicious! We ordered the turkey chops, got 3 large chop, a nice large scoop of mac and cheese and mash potatoes. Weve been dragging about it all wkend. We ordered it on doordash and paid $25. thats including door dash fees so ofcourse if u go in it’s such cheaper. Superb Ginger Berry and Thank you for making my hubby happy.
