“The bartender Jon was amazing. The food is so good and the restaurant is absolutely beautiful. I will say that the hostess, Ms. P was extremely rude, and I almost left. I wanted to dine in, but Ms. P said reservations were required. I told her if we can't eat in, then we can order to go. She interrupted me while I was speaking and asked, "You wanted to eat in, don't you?" I almost left because as her being the face of the restaurant, it was not a welcoming experience.
I'm glad I walked away from her and ordered at the bar. She definitely needs a class in customer service.“

“Dinner was amazing! The hot crab dip was exceptional, shrimp and grits to die for! The chicken was unfortunately unseasoned and dry, when we told our server Krystal, she replaced the whole meal to go and was so kind about it! Brought it back to our hotel to try it and it was incredible!! Perfectly seasoned and moist, thank you Krystal, you’re the best!!“

“Go order a pan of macaroni and cheese. A pan. You have an occasion coming up where you will need or want a pan of macaroni and cheese...like today...because it's today and you will want a pan of macaroni and cheese. My family had turkey chops and chicken wings, yams, green beans, greens and cornbread and everything was good but when I tell you that mac and cheese is some of the best I've EVER had, including my own, which slaps, I mean it. The lady taking orders was friendly, the dining room was clean, maybe too clean? Cleaning products were left out in full view and maybe that's not the ambience you want while dining in but that mac and cheese tho...I will sit next to a vat of bleach and Fabuloso if it meant having more. Go. Order it. Order other stuff too. I think you'll be pleased.

“I love this place. The other day a woman came in and Without trying her food tried to say it was disgusting. Made a Big huge scene which caused some customers to leave. I stayed to make sure nothing happened.And now is constantly harassing them and won't leave them alone. The owner and the staff was professional and tried to solve the problem which the lady was not having. Then called her husband and had him come up later that day to harass the owner, And her employees. Now i'm on facebook and watching this lady, Her husband, And her friend harass this business owner. yes It is very important to say that her husband kept repeating he owns his own business. so I am guessing they are doing this because he needs more business? trying to put her out of business so he can get her customers? I was there and this owner should not have to deal with the harassment from them. sorry you have to. keep doing you and all your customers that know you will keep coming back. I know I will.“

“stopped on my way back home to Cleveland, wanted some bbq ,the gas station recommended uptown bbq &soulfood rib tip dinner was very good and that sauce is the bomb, definitely enjoyed it 👍🏽“

“Lilly Bell's did a superb job of catering my baby shower / birthday gathering event. They were prompt and professional and the food was so good!!! I recommend this catering company for anybody who's interested in good quality food prompt service and very a very respectful staff.“

“Best black owned food I tasted so far and very friendly! I really want to try everything on the menu. They make your food fresh so you might want to call it in. I had the turkey ribs, greens and yams. Them turkey ribs were tender and falling off the bone. The yams were sweet to a perfection and the greens were perfect also. I went yesterday and I can't wait to return again today. Must give them a try yall!“

“For a soul food restaurant the food was very close to homemade.The collard green were good.The bathroom left a lot to be desired. It was very nasty.The floors were sticky even in the bathroom. Overall the food was good and I would go back again.“

“Steve's Soul Food at 1440 Franklin Street in Detroit's Warehouse District, just a couple blocks from the River, is finally back open as of August 20, 2023. I'd prefer 2-3 visits before providing an opinion, but it's definitely worth a try. According to staff, hours are 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Wednesday thru Sunday.“

“I tried them again, this time not right when they where opening. The place looks and feels alot cleaner. I got the spaghetti and rib tips. the Ribs where excellent. the spaghetti was good but not my style, I prefer traditional spaghetti. the noodles where not soggy this time but the sauce was a bit runny more like a Chilli/stew sauce. if the noodles where separate from the sauce they wouldn't get soggy over time. you can keep noodles from drying out by tossing with a little bit of olive oil but every one has there own style“

“This place is the number one spot for Detroit. Food excellent and the cook was definitely on point,the ladies smiled and made us feel like we were so special. My chicken wings with that special BBQ sauce wow. Thanks again for the tasty food. We will be back.“

“Tighten up in the peach cobbler...too much juice, where's the crust. Chicken wings best in Detroit. Im satisfy with customer service completely. The peach cobbler is very delicious..Keia accommodated me for the delicious freshly made greens for the delicious mac n cheese. Thanks you for being a special place to eat in our neighborhood. 😃 😊“

“I was laying in bed and started googling soul food near me. This place popped up and it was only 5 minutes from my house. I called and placed my order.
When I got there my food was ready and the service was good.
Now when I got home and tasted the food I was shook. I don’t find good soul food too often here in Detroit and this spot served me up just right

“Got two chicken dinners the Mac and cheese was good and cheesey not overcooked, dressing was very good chicken was seasoned I although I should've gotten the wings instead of the mixed it was all good but the star of the show was the STAFF the young lady that takes the orders & cashed you out Miss.Treasure is the best at what she does very efficient with attention to detail then you have Miss Wanda packing them orders to the highest level of efficiency keep up the great work ladies! Highly recommend this restaurant.“

“Here is a well kept secret that we are about to put on Blast. This establishment was amazing… The food was exquisite… The lamb was delectable, and the Hibachi rice was over-the-top exceptional with the salmon. The salmon burger was out of sight… Just downright delicious all the way around this is a well deserve stop along your culinary journey.“

“Overall the food was great. Probably one of the best fried pork chops I’ve ever had!! Meatloaf was fire and the gravy on top was on point . The only negative was the greens and green beans … they need more love and some meat inside. The cornbread was sweet, soft & buttery 😋 I can’t wait to stop in on a Tuesday to try the turkey & dressing special.“
