“We had such a great time chatting with the ladies that make Northern Latitudes Distillery such a fun place to hang out, get educated on spirits and have a delicious meal with a nice drink. The chips and artichoke dip are really a fantastic start to a meal. The spirits tasting was very fun. Try some new libations! Every one we tried was very good. Above all that, we enjoyed visiting with the phenomenal ladies behind the bar.“

“Took the ladies here for a Sunday afternoon tasting. They were busy but with plenty of room. This is a gorgeous winery with lovely outdoor seating on a very large patio. I love the grounds, landscaping, buildings, and views. The wine is very good too.“

“Stopped in on Sunday 3/16. Middle of a snow storm but they were open. Guy was working the bar and was pleasant to talk witymh as I enjoyed a pint. He was informed of the industry and welcoming on a crappy day. I look forward to going again.“

“This winery is a find for our first time in traverse City area. Spent over 2 hours there learning about the wines. And blind geeks were incredibly impressed by the certifications that they have achieved for sustainable production, and the variety of wines. Very much enjoyed the natural Pet Nat wine and others. “Party of four had dinner there on July 4, 2025. Food was good, but not as advertised on the menu. The apple salad was small and did not have candied walnuts on it and the nachos had no cheese on them. The 1/2 ribs that my husband ordered were tasty, but we ended up ordering cheesy fries after our meals because we were still hungry. The ribs came with coleslaw and nothing else.The server was friendly and efficient.“

“My fiancee (now wife) and I hosted our rehearsal dinner here. This was a new venture for the folks at Mawby, but you wouldn't know it. Wife and I loved our experience, and our guests adored the location and their visit. The staff helped us select the exact right amount of wine to purchase ahead of time, and they worked with our caterer to serve a magnificent meal. Not only are they a great location and wine, the staff could not be nicer and such a joy to work with. Thank you all for making our event such an overwhelming success!“

“I have visited Black Star Farms numerous times over the past several years for wine tasting when we take our yearly trip to northwest Michigan. My husband and I decided to join the wine club this past year because there are so many of their wines that we enjoy drinking year round, it is truly our favorite winery. We are obsessed with the dry reisling, dry gewurtztraminer and pinot noir rose! The outdoor tasting area is beautiful and so serene!

During this last visit, I discovered they held regular goat yoga classes, so my aunt and I took a class together. It was so much fun! There was a great mix of time interacting with the goats and taking pictures as well as flowing through a yoga class. The teacher was so sweet and kind and excellent at guiding all levels through a yoga flow. I would 100% do the goat yoga class in the future. Beautiful landscape, adorable and sweet little goats, a wonderful yoga flow and happy, relaxed people - would absolutely recommend if you are a fan of farm animals :)“

“Truly a special meal. This was BETTER than the photos. Every single thing we ate (baked mozzarella, parfait, salmon Benedict, apple pancake) was so incredibly delicious. Honestly the best meal of the trip. Service was also wonderful. So glad we made the trip out here.“
