“Our server, Abby, was amazing. She made the experience. The food was great. Portions were actually way too big, but we have another meal now with our left overs. “My partner been to the Hopcat in Kzoo and GR (both awesome in their own right), but EL is by far our favorite. The atmosphere is awesome, the food came out fast and delicious, and everyone was so friendly. Samira is a wonderful server! We just moved here, and she gave us great recommendations on places to check out. Definitely going back soon!“

“This is my daughter's and my favorite restaurant when we meet up in Lansing. We've never experienced anything less than delicious food. The staff is courteous and it's a busy but fun atmosphere. Highly recommend! 5/5 stars!“

“Get the Olive Burger! It’s a local Lansing-area creation and absolutely worth trying. The Peanut Barrel is a great old-school East Lansing spot with a fun, casual atmosphere. The burger was fantastic — definitely something I’ll get again when I’m back in town visiting MSU. Amazing!!!“

“The food is good, and the staff have always been great. Justin is a great bartender. Good portion sizes. I really like the grilled marinated chicken breast they have. Admittedly though it's not my favorite bar to sit at in town (tvs, taps, cocktails specials too Rum based, bar shape itself) but it is town staple and they do brunch!“

“This is a great bar! You should go here. Cozy atmosphere inside, great view outside. Loud inside right by the band as expected but the cozy corners and patio make for good nooks for conversation. I was here with a small group at a busy time but we were able to find seating outside easily and even after we had to move inside. This would be a great place for a date night“

“I've been to the Green Door more times than I can count. For much of my 20s it was a weekly haunt for me and my family as we sang karaoke here. We stayed with them through host changes, even briefly hosting karaoke myself (note: do NOT hire me to run karaoke, I willingly accept being about the worst host the place ever had) and we stayed with them through the downturn in service that the pandemic and the subsequent kitchen closure caused.
Now that I live away from Lansing, I still try to visit the Green Door when I come into town.“

“We love this place! My partner and I go here once a week at least. It’s a welcoming place for locals and the food is affordable and good. You can get pretty much anything for under $20 and Lynn is always an excellent and attentive host!“

Step into Buddies Grill in Holt and you half-expect Norm to slide onto the next stool and declare the beer cold and the gossip warmer. This unpretentious pub-and-grill hybrid doesn’t try to reinvent the wheel—it just keeps the wheel spinning with nachos the size of small continents, wet burritos that require a structural engineer, and a patio that somehow makes Michigan humidity feel intentional.
The vibe is pure neighborhood therapy: sports on every screen, a Tiki bar that pretends it’s somewhere tropical, and servers who remember your usual like it’s a sacred text. Service can occasionally achieve the speed of continental drift, but the portions arrive like apologies you actually want. Famous nachos? Legit. Homemade chili? Comfort in a bowl. Sunday breakfast buffet? A reason to crawl out of bed before noon.
Is it fine dining? Only if your definition of “fine” includes sticky tables. But as Holt’s unofficial living room—part Cheers, part group-therapy session with onion rings—it delivers exactly what it promises: good company, better calories, and zero pretension. “Great hang out to meet people. If you enjoy playing darts or on a league, this pub has a separate room with many dart boards. They occasionally will have live music. The parking lot is fairly big, but on a busy day or night you might find yourself having to park elsewhere. There are security cameras outside that I'm aware of, so I feel safe parking in their lot.

“Excellent food, with solid vegetarian options. The bar has plenty of pop culture and quirky decor. A laid back vibe and a good sized stage for music. Arcade machines and pinball throughout the multi-level venue. We tried the Vegan Green Curry Ramen and fried veggies. Exceeded expectations and a worthwhile destination if you looking for a good meal. Great atmosphere to hang out, play pool, have a drink, play pinball or classic arcade machines.“

“Went here for a night out in the beautiful EL and was served by Ella. She went above and beyond by continually providing prompt service always with a smile on her face. Even when my close colleague was lying on the floor she continued to provide great assistance by gathering both waters and mozzarella sticks (10/10) for him. I have since chosen her as my godmother for my 2nd oldest and she has continued to provide amazing service for us all!“

“Stopped in and overall the vibe was good. Only upset cause I told the bartender what I typically get at a bar, and asked what he’d recommend, and he just gave me what I typically get at a bar rather than giving me suggestions on other options. They did have pretty cool chalk art on the walls tho!“

“Dinner rolls and butter followed by Blackened Salmon Bites w a nice perfectly spicy, Mango dip.
I thought I took a picture of my Perch Basket! Cole slaw, house made tartar sauce, 5 or 6 really beautiful fresh fried perch, 2 hush puppies and slaw.
My DIL got chicken and mashed potatoes! They were fluffy and white and again, real gravy.“
